Turo ripped me off. I made an agreement with the owner to return my rental a couple of hours after it was due. In exchange, I agreed to drop it off at his workplace, even though I paid extra for airport drop off. Tho owner agreed but Turo still charged me an additional full days rental. No customer service. Idiots!

Turo is a complete scam! We rented a car in Cali, over 48 hours after we returned the car & had returned home. The host decided to file a fake claim against us. Our credit card was charged by Turo with NO RECOURSE to in fact report the host as a complete con artist. At NO POINT WAS THE CAR WE RETURNED DAMAGED. WE HAD PICTURES AS WELL! WITH NOOOO DAMAGE. We're actually asking our attorney general to look into it because this is in no way acceptable.

Avoid this car share rental at all cost!!! The first impression and rental rate is compatible and you thought why not give it a try! It's a big mistake! The host will send you reimbursement for where the car was pick up and returned a month later!? I have never heard any renters have to responsible for where the car were parked? And the fee is more than the rental cost!? Really!?

Absolutely disgusting service and behavior. Could not extend my trip on the App, wanted to pay in advance but couldn’t - so they send a tilt tray truck to pick the car up at 10.45pm on a Sunday night, waking up my 92 year old Mother. They then charged me $120 for it! Absolutely disgusting behavior and work ethic - NEVER NEVER use Turo for car hire - EVER!

I wish I could give less than 1 star. My poor experience with Turo was completely avoidable and, in today's app driven era, almost unbelievable. For those who have not rented with Turo in the past; it is a vehicle rental app with listings driven mainly by single private parties who lend their vehicles out, through the app, to registered users. I was the renter in this instance. I needed a passenger van, larger than a minivan, so that I could travel on vacation with myself, 3 other adults, and 2 children in car seats. We rented the car 6 MONTHS ahead of the vacation and had everything to be packed ready according to the size vehicle I rented. The turo app charges the balance owed on the rental a week ahead of time (note that this went through without issue). The Turo app will also, on the day of rental, give you location updates of where the car is (where the person who is dropping the car at the meet point is) and will display statements such as (1 more hour until your rental begins etc). I was at the drop off point waiting for the vehicle (I waited for half an hour past the time at which the van was supposed to arrive). The app allows you to forward calls and text to the person you are renting from, I received zero response. I finally called Turo support (note we are about 10 hours from vacation starting). When speaking with the agent I was told that the Van had been unlisted from the site (I wish I had taken a screenshot with timestamp here as when I opened the app while speaking with the agent, I was still able to search this listing). I asked when the listing was removed from the site and was told I could not be given that information. However, the main issue I have here, is that, while I cannot be sure when the vehicle was unlisted from the site, there should have been an immediate notification through the app that my trip had been cancelled. I was left in a lurch, if I wanted to find a 12 seat passenger van (which I would have had to drive almost 2 hours to a bigger city) and it would cost me more than $1000.00 more. I should have been notified the instant the van was unlisted. Was Turo hoping I would forget to call and request a refund? Had I not done anything (called Turo) I would have been charged for a vehicle I never received!

I booked a hire car through Turo for the 2nd week in July this year to be picked up at Carcassonne airport. During my flight from Manchester to Carcassonne Turo cancelled my rental. On arrival in France I saw the email and tried to contact Turo for alternatives. There were none. We were in France with no hire car and no alternative car was available. Turo have no back up plan for this. If the car is not available, for any reason, you are on your own. I had to rent the last car at Europcar and pay an astronomical amount to do so. Trying to rent a car from Turo cost me £800 more than the original Turo booking. Do not use, they have no back up plans and you will be stranded in a foreign country with no help from them.

Terrible customer support. Scamming hosts with incidental charges. They don’t have insurance that covers your vehicles. If a customer declines coverage then they are basically driving without insurance and the renter is responsible for the whole vehicle value. Be careful so you don’t get scammed. Not worth your time and investment.

The customer service is just terrible the only thing that care about is taking people money and not even complying. They charged me 140 dollars for failing to provide. Proper drivers license and in the end I didn’t even get to use the car. They have no idea how bad their service is. They always find a way to take other people’s money in completely inexplicable ways.

I've been using Turo for a few years and have made several trips with their cars. Years ago, it was definitely a cheaper alternative to traditional car rental companies but it's no longer the case. As a matter of fact, I now find it worse. You're at the mercy of the car owners who will ding you for every tiny detail (much like traditional companies) except that this company will never give the benefit of the doubt to the customer AND, worse, your credit card won't cover any damage done to one of these cars like they will with a traditional rental agency. I had an awful experience recently where I incurred MINOR damage to a car's bumper and was charged $2500 to replace the whole thing. I total ripoff.... beware!

Had one experience where things worked out OK , had to cancel a traditional rental, due a a flight issue and they came through with a car although the car was not as nice as what l had lined up and was more money it was fine, got me out of the pinch. Decided to give them another try when l had to do last-minute trip for a funeral , prepaid for the rental which is normal with Turo. There was confusion over the pick-up time (am/pm) no big deal, so I thought, I communicated with the host and explained that I would pick the car up at midnight not noon , received a text saying " no worries" landed to make my connecting flight and noticed an email from Turo, my rental was canceled, called Customer Service which is anything but, was given a few cars that were available last-minute and upon choosing one of those was informed that my account had been suspended for a "no show" , argued my way to a refund but the suspension made it impossible to rent any of the cars offered. This rental was pre-paid yet I was still suspended , thank God Phoenix had one 24 hr. Counter open and I was able to rent a car from Alamo and make the funeral. Never again will I use this sub par company that wouldn't know Customer service if it bit them in the butt! They expect me to convince them that I shouldn't be suspended. I prefer to warn others of this joke of a company that I wouldn't do business with again regardless of how desperate the situation may be!

Let me start by saying at the beginning. I absolutely love turo un tell it was time to return the car. Not only was I ripped off by tero but they also didn't explain to me that when I picked up the car from the airport that I'd be charged to exit . Also, when the host lied about me and where I picked up the car, they charged me a penalty for something that had nothing to do with me. So I tried to rent a car again through turo And to my amazement I couldn't rent it until I paid that fee so I paid the fee but guess what? 8 hours later, after trying and trying and trying I was not able to rent the car but they not only didn't rent me the car, but they took the money out of my account. Now when trying to get reimbursed. I can't even tell you how many ups and Downs. It's been since I've been told that I'm not going to receive my money for another 10 days. So not only do you steal my money? But you're going to give it back but in 10 days, so that leaves me screwed for anything else that I needed to do because they took not only one trip but 2 trips. So, you tell me if I did that to somebody, I would be. Jail how is it that they're allowed to do this to people and nothing happens.i could go on with all the bs I've Ben put through but really it's guns do nothing . So if I can make a negative 5 star I would . Saying I'm lieing when it's the host so disappointed so disappointed

Turo was absolutely horrible. Their customer service does not work with you. Their policy is all over the place. They don’t help you if something goes wrong with the vehicle incident I was in Myrtle Beach and the check engine light came on in one of the vehicles I had rented through Turo I contact support to assist with it, and they said I could drop the car anywhere and they would put me in something new but they would not be able to let me drop it off at my pick up location and they refused to pay for a plane ticket or any other means of getting back home so I had to drive a vehicle that was unsafe for 8 hours highly do not recommend.

Total scam that you return the vehicle back to the owner who drives off without inspecting the vehicle then later claims scratches no one else can see or pre-existed with charges you cannot defend after the event. Perceived saving versus standard rental companies is lost, spoiling your holiday. Stick to the mainstream, where they inspect on return with you present, probably cost less without frustration and annoying follow ups. Would NOT entertain using them again.

I was charged a late return fee and not returning to the correct location in the Mass airport. The airport is one of the smallest airports in the country. The host can makeup fees too increase their income.

1. Turo showed me the car pick up is from airport but I realize later that they provide shuttle to the place where car parked which is outside of airport. I waited for long time for shuttle 2. They asked me to pay parking fee when i picked the car and now they asking me to pay parking fee for dropping the car to their shuttle location- $70 usd together. I book cars using many other apps but they charge only if car is parked in airport. also they usually dont charge in and out but just once even if car parked in airport. Its two day i took car and parking they charged is almost the rent charge. Very disappointing.. me or neither anyone of my friends will be taking Turo.. also considering what other steps i can take here
