“Thought that the timber quality was rather substandard, there are many many knot holes in the boards which will need to be sealed and the roof was rather awkward to fix into place”
“Sorry to say not informed until day of delivery that construction would be a week later . Also when she’d delivered the unprotected roof was not covered in plastic to protect from water penetration. So I had to quickly get a plastic cover .”
“10 x 8 Mercia Helios Summerhouse - Ordering was simple, delivery on time, delivery driver was excellent and put the parts exactly as requested. All parts delivered ok. As far as quality goes, pretty good - it's not a premium shed so wasn't expecting it to be perfect, but it went together ok - one panel hadn't been nailed down one side - easily fixed, the doors were too big for the frame (shaved around 3mm off each side to fit) and one piece of wood was too long and had to be cut (door stay). Seemed to be an extra couple of bags of screws included - 1 bag of mixed and one of 60mm that were not mentioned in instructions! As far as the "10 year anti-rot guarantee" - Who is going to re-paint the shed every year ? Most of the treatments on the market last for 2 or 5 years !”
“My small shed took less than a day to build with the help of a friend, and looks great. It's a perfect size for the tools I need to store. However, some of the instructions were difficult to follow, especially concerning fashioning the roof. The roofing felt was very poor quality, and readily split. I imagine I will have to replace this before too long. Also, some of the nails and screws provided were inadequate for the task. The nails were far too short, and I had to use several of my own. Finally, I think it would have been helpful for the internal floor piece to have been wrapped against rain damage.”

“I was dissapointed with quality of my shed. More than acceptable knot holes, doors didn’t fit and an unusable piece of timber for door edge . Floor is too thin also . I thought price I paid was too good to be true and it was. You get what you pay for they say; il buy better quality next time”

“You get what you pay for. I didn't use the existing floor because is so week I did replace it with 3x2 and 18mm playwood. The roof felt as well so week is just cut to half wen I was try to install on the roof .so I did replace the felt as well .otherwise is good not too bad shed”

“THERE WERE SOME PARTS MISSING FROM THE DELIVERY OF MY SHED, NAMELY THE WINDOW SURROUND STRIPS AND THE WINDOW CILL. THE MISSING PARTS WERE NOT APPARENT AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY AND DUE TO MY MOTHER BEING TAKEN ILL THE DAY BEFORE DELIVERY, I DID NOT GET AROUND TO UNPACKING AND ASSEMBLING THE SHED UNTIL THREE WEEKS AFTER DELIVERY, HENCE WHY I DID NOT REPORT IT AS I KNEW I HAD GONE PAST THE CUT OFF POINT. I HAD TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL MATERIAL TO COMPLETE THE BUILD. IT IS DISSAPOINTING AS THIS IS THE SECOND PURCHASE I HAVE MADE FROM ELBEC AN THE FIRST ONE WAS PERFECT.”
“Placing our order for Forest Greenhouse went really well. Unfortunately when it was delivered the automatic window opener was missing, which the driver delivering the greenhouse knew about. He advised that they would get the part to us. Also there is some split timber to at least two of the panels.”
“The wooden play house is good, in itself. One of the pieces didn't fit through the garage, but we could adapt and I took it over a neighbour's fence. There were no windows or extra window box with the play house. I called to point this out and was told that they should arrive in three to five days. It took a month.The window box was fine, but the windows were the wrong size. After another call, I was told to expect the correct ones in three to five days. Unlike the window frames in the play house, I was starting to glaze over. I chased up after five weeks to see where they were.It took another two weeks to get the windows. So the lower rating is for the back-up service. The quality of the play house is fine and reasonable value. I have had more reminders to fill out this review than I had contact about the windows that didn't arrive.”
“I bought three 1.8m x 1.8m double slated fence panels and the ordering and delivery was great. However the fence panels I think are not great quality. The gaps between slats are uneven, some slats are slightly warped and generally poor quality timber for the slats is used. One of the panels was thicker that the other two as different sized timber had been used between the stats so l had to pack out the panel to get a flush fit. I realise they are made from a natural product but they seem to be put together by eye rather than using a jig for the spacing. Considering the cost I expected better but from a distance the fencing looks nice.”
“Disappointed with Shires customer care line who promised a call back, still waiting over two weeks for it. Summerhouse good with the exception of the floor which is flimsy. Some window beads not cut to the correct size had to recut them myself.”
“Initially I was happy with the purchase of a shed from you. What I am not happy about is the lack of communication about when the large product package would be delivered! During a phone conversation with Elbec, I was told that I would be contacted and informed when the product would be delivered and that contact would probably be by Friday 18th March and delivery would follow after communication with me. Well today I received a phone call from my daughter's mother at the delivery address telling me that the order had already been dropped off today 17th March, and left against the front bay window of the property. There was no communication with me at all and as no-one was at the property, because of work commitment, it was left exposed to public view and the weather without protection. If I had been informed predelivery, as promised, I would have been there to receive it and put it where it was meant to go, out of site and protected!! As it was so late when I was able to move it, I was unable to check the contents, but will do so tomorrow. If there is any problem at all with the contents, I will be in contact with you at my earliest convenience. I will also give a true review of the product when it has been assembled and installed. I very much hope all will be as good as I expect so that my review can be as positive as possible and there will be no need to get back to you for anything other than a good report and satisfactory review. “2 of the panels were poorly finished,some of the battens panels were nailed to thinned out half way up and 1 capping I had to replace as was broken off half way along costing me more expensive,where it's better to pay more I not so sure,years ago panels were made with 2inch battens and now made with roofing batten”
“unfortunately there was lots missing. The trim for the roof. 3 pieces for the joint cover and no where near enough panel pins for the fixing. its a shame as the delivery was on time and the product is ok.”
“Delivered with not enough felt for the roof, only realising after driver had left. Had to use off cuts for the last row of felt. Both window fasteners broke after the first time I opened them, they won’t close as not lined up. The door wouldn’t close either. Had to be modified by a carpenter. Both side panels have such roughly sawn timber, that the splinters of wood look awful, yet cannot be sanded away as this is where the facia panel is. (which is pre attached) yet the edges of the back panels are fine, annoyingly as they won’t be seen. The facia panels supplied cover the front and sides, covering and holding down the felt that overhangs from the roof. There is NOT a facia to secure the felt at the rear, which can be seen and I believe will cause the felt to tear if the winds are strong. I will be buying new window and door fixings, and a facia panel for the rear. I actually haven’t got around to contacting elbec yet, but doubt that they will do anything. Once assembled and faulty windows and doors rectified and painted, I am very happy with the look of the summer house.”
