It is made using a really good and thick fabric but as for the heat I am afraid it is almost non existent! I am an invalid and my wife bought this as an early Christmas present, but we are not happy at all, no better than a normal blanket and we have already got a few of those! so we are sorry to say this was money wasted! It is more of a blanket than a "heated" blanket
