I was in awe by the amount of choice at The Fireplace Warehouse (Burnley). I was introduced to Neil to help me with my decision. He was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful, and I opted for Evonic Arada electric fire. I paid the deposit and was given a date three weeks ahead for fitting, which was delayed a further month because of (I was told) delays with the manufacturer. The fire was fitted yesterday (24 Aug 2023) by Daniel and his workmate - who did an excellent job, very little mess, and Daniel hoovered up after them. Then I was asked for £255 for fitting. At no point had I been advised by any staff at the Fireplace Warehouse of this, so I was completely unprepared and embarrassed. It was soon sorted by bank transfer but someone on the staff of the Fireplace Warehouse should have brought this to my attention, preferably at the initial ordering, but it should definitely have been mentioned by whoever in Accounts phoned me to ask for the balance to be paid just prior to fitting. Nowhere on the website, nor on the invoice, does it state that the fitting is a separate payment. I have had a lot, a LOT, of work done on the house over the past 18 months and not all contractors ask for separate payments for subcontractors, so if I'm not told, how am I supposed to know? It's embarrassing. I would have had the cash ready for him. Hence the dropped star.
