I agree that the handoff from Synchrony to Barclaycard by Gap was a nightmare. They didn't allow activation until June 20 and by then the previous payment was due even though I paid it to Synchrony. I was assured there would be no fees during this transition period, but they tried to charge interest. Customer service is a nightmare. I am cancelling the new Mastercard. I don't like shopping at the Gap enough to endure this.

Bar at wanted me to send in the mail mind you, copies of my bank statement, license and social security card for verification of my credit card application for a Hawaiian Airlines. Who would send those vital things in the mail, let alone trust a worker w them?!!!

Worst card ever. They will help you ruin your credit by reducing your limit regardless of a stellar payment history across the board! Never again - wish I had closed my account before they did it a second time.

So Gap which was from synchrony bank now switched to Barclays, boy I was in for a surprise when I called the new customer service from Barclay, so I have now newly issued credit cards, I will not even bother to use them as customer service representative is very flat affect and sounds like I inconvenienced her, well… don’t even expect professionalism these days, but this is multi billion business and they can’t appoint somebody to work professionally without having to hear a wailing baby in the background? (And it took almost 30 minutes waiting on the phone, where as Synchrony bank, I can always expect a lively representative if I request for one) C’mon! I’m a mother but if I am working with multi billion corporate America I expect the company to pay well and treat customers right…oh well…the economy and the pandemic just add up an excuse not to serve their customers anymore and to think it is Us customers that made them billions….long story short____will not even bother activating my card, not even use it….sorry NOT SORRY! I KNEW IT POOR PAY=EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE! Here’s to America going down the drain….

I've had a Barclaycard for over 15 years, never missed a payment, always kept my utilisation below 30% and I've got a really good credit score (over 950). I have received a letter on the 18th of June 22 that they are reducing my credit limit from £9500 to £1300! on the 16th of June 22! I rang the customer service and lady called Laura not only was very rude but couldn't provide any information as to why my credit limit was reduced. This will now considerately affect my credit score. Horrible customer service and lack of transparency, avoid like fire!!!

I have had a Barclay credit card for several years. However this year, my experience with their version of customer service was, in a word HORRENDOUS. It took FOUR phone calls and a full 90 minutes of my time today to finally get an answer that made sense. My first phone call was answered by a very poorly train customer service rep at noisy overseas call center who had absolutely NO CLUE what he was doing. My second call was answered by a customer service rep in the US who seemingly could not think beyond the script she seems to be reading from. My third call to Barclay today was answered by a so called "customer service manager" (who identified herself as "Anna") here in the US who, in my view, did an extremely poor job of 1) listen carefully to my question so that she could; 2) identify the issue; and then 3) provide relevant answer or offer coherent options for the issue. Is that not what customer serivices mangers are trained to do. Finally, the FOURTH person I talked with today was a customer service manager who was able to answer my question in less than three minutes (her name was "Connie"). Once I pay off my zero interest promo in a couple of months, I do not intend to use my Barclay Mastercard again because I don't want to deal with Barclay's customer service "circus" ever again. If I could give ZERO STARS, for their customer service, I would do so.

if you never, ever want a credit increase a Barclay Card is perfect. CORRECT, not without a hard credit pull, EVEN THOUGH Barclay has your FICO and credit right on their app!! If I'm going to do a hard credit hit I may as well open a different card that comes with automatic reviews and increases. Cmon Barclay, you can't keep up with your own technology?? The rest of the banking world figured this out years ago.

Terrible service. Spent over 5 hrs on same issue, over $8K of several over $1K transactions from same vendor for towing in another state, which were fraudulent & never stopped by then, happening over a week's time. They hung up the phone, put me on & off hold, could not speak English, blamed they system for going through updates, did not annotate the conversations, did not provide case #'s, could not connect me with an American staff. I am not getting any resolution for days. I have no idea what is going on with them. Incompetent business!! Stay away!!!

Didn't receive first card in the mail. Called to get another issued. It arrived. Got a notification that first bill was due, figured it was my annual fee, so I went to pay that in full to see $800+ in fraudulent charges. Called to report it and have them removed, spoke to 9 people that didn't understand what was going on. Finally they told me they would mark the charges as fraud, investigate it, and remove them from my account. This was an airline card that had a 90 day promotion of spending $1,000 and getting a large amount of miles. It's been 6 months and the charges are still there. So, I couldn't take advantage of the promotion, and they won't give me a promotional extension. Now I'm stuck with $800 worth of fraudulent charges they won't get rid of. Wait times are absurd for getting through to people that have no idea what they're doing. How this company even operates is completely beyond me. If you're thinking about getting a Barclays card, please for the love of god, look elsewhere. It's a bigger headache than it's worth. I'm reluctant to give this company even 1 star, because frankly, they don't even deserve that.

Worst company ever. Applied for a credit card was told I needed to send the more information. I asked the lady if I could fax it she said no. Turns out I could’ve faxed it so I just sent all this sensitive information in the mail for no reason. I never heard back from anyone and I still don’t know if I’ve been approved or not. I sent a complaint to customer service and never heard back every time I call I get transferred to at least four different people and nobody ever helps me. They haven’t even sent me a letter saying that they got the information that I sent so that’s just out there. So mad.

My card expired and I have called a dozen times for a new card and still have not received one. I like Barclaycard but cannot use it because I do not have a new card. I have been a customer for twenty years and can no longer be one simply because no one will send me a new card. I have never had a company turn down my business! If it wasn’t so frustrating, it would be laughable.

Had been with them for many many years, wouldn't help me by lowering my rate despite that I've never had a missed payment. They would honestly prefer to lose your business then to help you.

Stay away from this company. Absolutely terrible. I accidentally paid off my card. I called and said it was a mistake. Then I called back and said never mind keep the money. Then 73 days later they returned the money. I called and said I didn't want the money and immediately returned it within hours. They then charged me interest for 2 months that they had my money and said it was in perpetuity. I said what you had my money, you can not charge me interest on money you had, that is illegal. They won't reverse the interest charges now I will have to sue them for 40 dollars because no way will I pay this lying cheating company any extra money.

This company is absolutely mercenary!! Avoid them at all costs! I had to get this card to upgrade my phone when it became absolutely necessary after 5 years. They were Apple’s provider. I paid it off, and asked them to close it. I never thought about it again. Well, they didn’t close it, and a registration I forgot I paid on this card renewed for 150$. I would not have Renewed that charge anyways. I started getting five phone calls a day from a number that I didn’t recognize. Come to find out it was Barclays calling me about late fees on a charge I shouldn’t have had and didn’t know about because I had requested the card to be turned off. Closed entirely. Mind you this is now during Covid when I am unemployed. I’m still trying to pay off that charge And the late fees that still somehow keep adding up and are an exorbitant amount of about $35 I believe. Run …run fast away from this company.

Closed my account on April 23 and paid off my balance. Today, May 23, I was informed that my account was billed for the amount that I paid off the account the previous month! There was no balance but I was billed for the same amount as my paid off balance. The "explanations" given by customer service made no sense. One customer service representative used the expression "repeat payment!" I told her that in 60 years of having credit cards I never heard of that term. Then she recognized that I had automatic payment and blamed the customer service representative who closed my account for not turning off my automatic payment. I said even if it was on, with automatic payment one doesn't pay the bank when there is no balance on the account. The amount was well over a thousand dollars! I was told they would mail me a check in a week to 10 days. I was not told about this egregious error! CI really found out about it quite by accident. I told them since it was their error that they should do a wire transfer into my checking account. I was told I would get a call from "higher management" in the next 24 hours. I said to a frontline customer service representative as well as a manager that I was very dissatisfied with the way they responded to my situation. It seemed to me that I received the most disinterested customer service from the actual representatives. Usually I get good customer service from the representatives, with the policies being the problem. In this case there was both. I cancelled my card because of poor service and policies and now I can't escape same. Really bad experience and since it is an AARP sponsored credit card, I want to call them and report my experiences.

They have very irrational fees...late fees? I didn't even get a bill...i only got a statement saying we were closing your account, their fees are a total scam. I got the card on American Airlines...The stewardess told us you only need to buy a pack of gum and that gets you 55000 points. I should have known better.
