I have called the RAC twice in 4 months and interestingly, they send the identical texts both times-firstly they give you a time(in our case 3 hours) then within 30 mins the excuses start coming out-busy period,motorway, trying to get someone local to me to come out...text after text. Last time they did not even have the decency to tell us that it would be delayed overnight. Today we got the call saying it will not be with us until tomorrow. No surprises. PS First time I rang they put the phone down on me!!

What a bunch of whoppers. We’ve been waiting for over two hours. Really, really rubbish humans. They keep saying it’s just going to be ‘another hour’. We’ve even been told off by a highway man we’ve been here so long. Although he did give us some space blankets. Which was kind. He’s going to come back in a bit and charge us £170 to tow us to the next junction. I’m really cold. And sad. And far away from home. Naughty RAC. Naughty. Just be a bit better.

Bought tyres from RAC. Should have been fitted 6th sept 2022 but no one turned up Called them said garage had the booking but no time If they had the booking they had the time slot or just turn up on the day Asked for a refund Not happened!! Tried calling all day Thursday waiting 1/12 hours each time to be told lines are closed at 17.30 but it’s not 17.30 all day!!!!! This group is a sham they do not care about customer service!!! I’m about to issue a charge back which the RAC will have to pay a charge to the bank and receive a black mark

Worst company ever worst customer service ever I'm saying that because I spent 16 hours in London waiting for recovery truck I got traffic ticket I lost my income for the day work and all this because you need to wait so long for the recovery truck unbelievable I will recommend to not use that company ever ever because you gonna make for yourself much more problem than it's worth it they should help to the drivers not putting them even deeper in the hole customer service ignoring you telling you that is your fault you lost the money and they have nothing to do with your problems because they are just recovery they didn't recognise they make that problem I still cannot believe you can wait for the recovery 16 hours in Wimbledon if I could I will give this company - 5 Stars I added the pictures of the recovery truck which was smaller than my car ridiculous

Left in service station with a total flat for 5 hours. In the end had to ring a local garage. Single woman who had managed to ‘ limp ‘ off M25 with no hard shoulder. Just received constant texts every 30 minutes. DUSGUSTING SERVICE for ofbver £ 300 per year !!

I pay a small fortune for this monthly, only ever used once before 8 hour wait and then sent 3rd party who could not offer the service we pay for now used again today given I am disabled and had a medical emergency they promised I would be dealt with in 2 hrs 2.5 hrs later called to advise another 2.5 hr wait, I cried to the lady!! She still could not help, my advice if your disabled and can’t wait this long avoid them! If your happy to sit in a car or wait by roadside and wait for hrs on end then join them! Shocking service we will be cancelling! Also if you have no signal you can’t use app and there is no phone number not helpful at all!

Reported breakdown at 11:02am, initial response to disable driver excellent less that 30mins fault diagnosed car needed recovery. That's when it went to wrong initial patrol response was unable to take 4 passengers, so recovery vehicle was requested to cut a long story short numerous phone calls and waiting in temperatures of 34 Degrees finally recovered in two stages to home total of 15.5 hours. The worst part was on every call to the RAC call centre they did not seem to have all the relevant information and to add insult to injury having written a letter of complaint and giving them 14 days to respond, and have still not received a response, and this is the service give to a customer of 20 years standing. It is my understanding that they should have booked a Taxi in first instance and that patrol that first attended should have recovered the vehicle.

Car broke down waited for help from Rac no one turned up Walked home left car And was told after getting home 6 hours later no one available What isvthe point paying £354 For service which is not up to scratch. Very disappointed Still have not been called from Rac to apologise and give reason Thank god my failmy was not with me

Victim of perceived racially motivated malicious RAC breakdown engineer claiming that I am lying about the circumstances in reporting a breakdown ( as a member ) - means I am unable to access any recovery of vehicle / young family until customer services can resolve the situation Nearly 2 days later and still waiting at the back of a queue for assistance Hired a car for family to get home from personal finances Clunky online only system that regurgitates you back to the telephone automated queuing system to repeat the process and actually try and talk to a human to explain Not user friendly / inconsistent advice from different people during process / seemingly unable to resolve situation and may need to resort to arranging own recovery I and all family members will be cancelling membership - my advice is to find a user friendly - person led alternative at all costs #RACnotwhattheyusedtobe Still waiting 7 hours later in car - phoned RAC again ( 5th time) and told that there is NO LIVE JOB pending - 3rd breakdown assistance referral made ( they know my car and location obviously but keep getting details of when I reported breakdown and timing details wrong ) Promised immediate callback from Special investigation team to help resolve issue Text received but no further communication … expect 270 minute delay to mobile RAC unit ( if it arrives and job doesn't get cancelled / dropped for 4 th time - utter shambles of a company Reply to my twitter blog Reply from RAC Breakdown Cover Good afternoon, I'm sorry to read that you are feeling discontent with regards to the service you have received, this is certainly not the service that we aim to provide, and I can appreciate the frustration this must have caused you. Could you please send the full details on the complaints form via the link below and our team will assign a case handler to investigate this accordingly. Well that'll fix the car then ! Oh wait maybe in a few weeks … 1730 hrs Friday … now 8.5 hours since reported … No call back and helpline / customer services closed until Monday - phoned through call handling system again ( call number 6) told to expect further delay of another 90 minutes informed that of my Panic attacks over last 2-3 hours due to uncertainty and apprehension explained to call handler - moved to urgent medical priority list … same eta for patrol of 90 minutes Help me please After 10 hours of waiting contacted RAC again ( another 30 minute wait for them to answer) - 'no one has accepted the job yet sir' - apparently the person was very sorry ( again) but could offer nothing further as 'it isn't his responsibility to follow up on cases … I only take the phone calls !' - as he's speaking an RAC patrol drives past ( unknown to the helpline) so I flag him down , explain the situation - he assessed car ( unfit to drive ) calls up the recovery unit ( the car May or may not be recovered today !!) and organises a hire car for me to travel home No further contact from RAC by phone or text …. Now 150 miles away 15 hours later and wonder whether my car will EVER be seen again ( it is still in the original location ) RAC man himself was embarrassed by the inefficiency and sheer incompetence of the firm he works for Phoning AA tomorrow !

You only find out how good or bad a company is when you need them. Broke down near an airport when about to collect family. Given unbelievable 4.5 hour attendance time, they were not prepared to prioritise in any way. Had to arrange at considerable personal cost for family to get home. Predictably RAC don't want to know, they have no customer service ethic. They couldn't care less about me and just parrot terms and conditions. I wont be renewing and would advise prospective customers to steer well clear. Imagine if you were stranded in a dangerous place having to wait 4.5 hours for them to deign to arrive.

Left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing To complicated to get quotes and repairs done Took over a month and am out of pocket even though they were claiming repair off 3rd party Not professional people at all

Nothing 'Royal', 'Automobile' or 'Club' about the mindless automated and dysfunctional 'chinese whispers' madness of the RAC. We pay £250 a year for 'assistance', but today got NOTHING but stress, costs and no service, or customer care. Phoned it in at 12.00. Got a 4.5 (!!!) hour estimated arrival time. Waited for 2 hours then got a phone call refusal for free recovery due to no tax (the DVLC website currently will not renew my disabled tax; their website fault). Sorted recovery myself for £10 less and FOUR HOURS quicker than the RAC, from the same garage that they used hours later. The folk that recovered me in 20 minutes then called me 2 hours later to tell me the RAC had just asked them to recover the same vehicle , which the RAC had earlier refused to recover. 6 hours after calling it in I'm still getting text messages saying they're on their way, despite the same 'trusted supplier' having sorted it out hours ago. £250 a year plus £100 to sort it myself, but much quicker, from the same garage. Thanks for leaving a disabled amputee at the roadside to sort it out better/quicker/cheaper themselves...........So what exactly our we paying for apart from dysfunctional text messages? The emperor wears no clothes.

Car Loan: Got rejected because I just started a new job even with a 8 year perfect working history across 2 companies previously, 150k of assets, living at home with parents rent free, working as mining engineer in WA, high paid job but……… because I was on probation I was denied. I called up thinking I will talk some sense into these Monkeys and upon talking to the manager she was just a robot to policy. She said “we take all factors into account before approving a loan not just probation” to which I mentioned all the above again which is “all the other factors” (income, savings, job history, spendings and credit rating which I don’t have as never taken a loan). After that moment I realised she didn’t have the capacity to think for herself and I was wasting my time so went and proceeded with loans.com.au. They talk a big game about helping WA but RAC is BS and they think only inwards.

If I give give you less than 1 star I would. you have had me waiting over 6hrs tonite. I have made numerous calls and due to to not a very smart person putting the job in wrong was told because I had a collision they would not recover my car?? What collision?? My car hit a pot hole and the tyre went down. I had one of the recovery team have alook and tell me to rebook the job as they had put it wrong I then called explained the situation and was told they would get someone else out to me guess what they left me waiting and waiting to then get a phone call to say I wasn't covered at this point I'm pulling my hair out. Tomorrow I will be cancelling this through my car insurance asking for a full refund and will also be seeing you RAC for the money I have lost, my Uber ride home and for the stress you have caused me tonite. (I only live 3.5miles from where the car stopped) worst customer experience I have ever had in my 36 years.

I broke down on M25 but managed to roll to A10 slip rd, phoned from dangerous situation 30 mins later highway patrol towed me to a safer position so rac reassessed my recovery and i then waited 5hours for a patrol man, who couldn't start the car ,as u had onward travel they r still assessing my situation its now been 7 he's and we haven't moved or been updated at any point everytime have had to phone with lies everytime i call, my girlfriend in tears no duty of care the worst outfit and company in the world

***WARNING*** If you own a Motorbike or Moped avoid the RAC Breakdown service, In my short of my current experience using this company. My moped had broken down less than a mile from my home, I called the RAC Breakdown service, 3 hours later an RAC Mechanic turned up, he had a look around the bike and established the drive belt had snapped and said he would arrange for the moped (Which is quite heavy) to be transported home. He dropped me off at home at 8 PM I got a text to say my moped would be collected within 90 minutes, no calls at 10.00 PM, I called the RAC Breakdown service and was advised and I quote, "can you go back to the bike and switch off the alarm, and we will arrange for the collection of the bike during the evening "(No chance as I would then be uninsured), He said he would call me back within an hour, I went to bed at midnight as no call received. Got up the next day to go to work at 06.30am, I checked my mobile phone and 1 missed call at 00.42am and another at 05.43am, I got home from work at 15.00pm another missed call at 14.46. I again called up the RAC at 1500 and was fobbed off to be told another team were going to call me, I got called an hour later to be told they cannot get to my bike for FOUR DAYS and he said, again they cannot guarantee that they can get to it in that time. Remember my bike is less than a mile from my home, he gave a lame excuse that there was no bike transfer companies within 35 miles radius of where the bike is, but he said he would call me back in an hour, as I said to him, would the RAC pay, if I organised the bike to be collected by a company not on their list after I rattled off several locally on the internet that are not on their list, he said he would ask his manager if that was ok and call me back in an hour. Again, no call back and now when I call the RAC Breakdown service, the operators say they will transfer me to another department and put me on hold for hours at a time and then nobody answers. so, I am in limbo now, my bike may be stolen by the time anyone reaches it from the RAC Breakdown service. The service at the RAC is non existent, I have now arranged for my bike to be transported the less than1 mile to my home by a local professional bike pickup company less than 5 miles from my home, at my own expense, as I cannot take the risk of my bike being left at the side of a busy road for 4 or more days. the past 24 hours have been really stressful by the lack of service. I would advise you take the breakdown service of Motorbikes and Mopeds off your list of vehicles you say RAC Breakdown service can help, as this is misleading , your company is not fit to service any bike rider in distress or their vehicle to be recovered in any given time. One very dissatisfied RAC customer.

I was falsely given assurances on sign up that cover would include recovery to home even if it was further than 10miles by paying a surcharge. The patrolman told me that wasn’t the case and moved my vehicle to a safe location 5miles in the wrong direction from my home. I submitted a complaint 5weeks ago and despite my repeated calls they have not yet reviewed my case (listened to the call I made). When I call I’m told I’m a priority and the manager is aware. They have never contacted me it has always been me that has called. I feel like they are not going to do anything at all but fob me off. I feel like I have been duped by them. They took my money under false pretences and have no intentions of returning it. There should be a way of leaving no stars because they don’t deserve any. Shame on you RAC.
