After constant and numerous calls to the RAC the mechanic turned up 23 hours later. Like other reviews we were told a time and then when they didn't turn up we rang again and was told another time and that went on from 2.20 pm on Friday till 1.15pm on Saturday. When it got to about 11pm they said they would put us in a hotel till the morning that never happened only to be told around 1am there were no hotels available. Luckily we managed to get to a BP service station at Brackley where the staff there were all very helpful and charged our phones up for us but we had to stay in the car till the next morning. Car'nt falt Mark the mechanic he was shocked of how long we had been waiting, He managed to sort are car so we could drive home another 100 miles but we have to take it to a garage to get it fixed. It is not the mechanics who are at fault its the call centre they just don't care, how can anyone have to wait 23 hours when they have breakdown cover.

Terrible experience, they never showed up, after calling them 3-4 times they are going to pick my car up after 3 days. The taxi they booked also never showed up. I was stuck with my old mum in a dangerous road for 6 hours.

Inquired twice., key fob or immobiliser problem, and clutch issue, different vehicles in the last 12 months. They didn't want to no. Since filling the form internet, location rural area its always sorry we don't do that. You might aswell lock up and order a taxi.

Extremely Disappointing Service - Avoid RAC Breakdown Cover I recently had a dreadful experience with RAC Breakdown Cover, and I feel compelled to share my frustration with others. The service I received was shockingly unprofessional, leaving me in a state of bewilderment and disappointment. After my vehicle broke down and an RAC mechanic was called out, I was left in the dark about the true nature of the issue plaguing my car. The mechanic failed to inform me clearly about an essential electrical fault that required immediate attention at a garage. Instead, he casually dismissed the problem as a mere engine management light issue that could trigger a limp mode. To make matters worse, I was misled into signing what I thought was a routine call-out form, only to discover later that it was a detailed report outlining the critical electrical fault in my vehicle. The mechanic's lack of transparency and professionalism is simply inexcusable and reflects poorly on RAC's service standards. Upon realizing the gravity of the situation, I reached out to RAC for clarification, only to be informed about the seriousness of the issue that had been downplayed by their own representative. The fact that I have yet to receive a copy of the report, despite my earnest efforts to obtain it, further underscores the utter disregard for customer satisfaction displayed by RAC. In conclusion, my experience with RAC Breakdown Cover was nothing short of a nightmare. The lack of communication, professionalism, and transparency exhibited by their staff is utterly unacceptable. I strongly advise against using RAC's services, as they have proven themselves to be unreliable and untrustworthy. Save yourself the trouble and seek assistance elsewhere.

I opted out of the auto renew home insurance policy because renewal price was too high. Even called them to cancel. RAC continued to debit my account 3 months later, also charged me for not signing the policy agreement I didn't want. I provided proof of my new policy in order to get a refund, RAC have refused to reimburse me the full amount for their own mistake. Shocking customer service, incapable of answering simple questions or admitting to their own mistake.

Total and utter shambles . Called them at 4.00 pm and finally got the car back home at 8.00 pm the following day. Could write a full report but so many issues it would take too long . Just don’t take out cover as it’s not worth the stress .

We moved house but stayed in the same village in Cornwall. We tried to change address online but could not do so (one technical issue after another!) so we had to use 'live' chat. For the address change we are being quoted an extra £147.19 plus £15 (the original cost was £166.94) So, for moving to the opposite side of the village, RAC are doubling the insurance cost. Words cannot describe this but try - iniquitous, money-grabbing, ridiculous abd a total rip off. I will try to spread this ridiculous situation as far and wide as possible - Watchdog, Martin Lewis, Natalie Cornah / Spotlight, Trust Pilot etc. etc.

Shame when you are with the RAC and the AA has to tow you to safety because they are concerned for your safety!!! Broke down on a very dangerous part of the A64. RAC couldn't care less told me contact the police 🚓 who did not turn up either

Where do I start. We broke down in Bristol at 6pm last night, phoned the RAC. They arrived at 10.30pm and said the van would need recovering. Told our driver that they would recover him from 4am the following day. He stayed in a hotel and went back to the van for 4am. At 8.30am he phoned me and said he hadn't heard anything. I called the RAC 11 times during the day and was told they would get a manager to call me back every time (this never happened). On my 11th call at 3.30pm I was told that breakdown was on it's way. I don't know about you but I believe nearly 12 hours stuck on the side of a busy road is absolutely ridiculous. Oh and I have just had a call off our driver saying the recovery can only take him as far as Cardiff and another recovery vehicle will bring the vehicle down to Swansea (I wonder how long he will have to wait for the RAC to sort this transition out). All I can say is that the RAC is a shower of S**T. Kind Regards Simon Chugg Operations Manager CABS.

I went to RAC after being with the AA. I didnt realise that you use the app to report a breakdown. Too overly complicated as I have my elderly mum on the membership. I have now just cancelled my membership and went back to AA where I will stay for the foreseeable future. Why do you need an app for a recovery company that I have read online is difficult to navigate. Stressful enough if you have broken down and cant just call them directly but have to use the app.

Apparently this is a Road Traffic Accident and not a Mechanical Breakdown, therefore my daughter was not covered under her RAC Recovery. Despite her paying £98.50 per month. The RAC cut my daughter off and left her alone on the side of a very busy dual carriageway!!!

I recently had a very disappointing experience with RAC. After agreeing on a revised quote for the following year, I was shocked to find out that my policy had been cancelled, despite having discussed all necessary questions with their team. This outfit is a complete shambles. My advice to potential customers is to go elsewhere—there are plenty of other breakdown recovery services available. RAC's handling of my situation was utterly unprofessional and frustrating.

Left my daughter, a lone female, waiting for a recovery vehicle for SIX hours! Absolute shambles, avoid the RAC like the plague, they are over priced, and don't really give a damn.

Any excuse, here's an email I just sent to them, it explains pretty much everything; I cancelled my policy 200110006672011 on or about the 4th july 2024 because despite paying my dues regularly your people refused to help me retrieve my keys from inside my vehicle. The excuse was because my car was untaxed. Yes being a doddery old sod I forgot to pay the £35 per year road tax! It happens, my memory isn't what it was. I was actually on private property at the time and as such required no road tax anyway. When I joined I was told nothing about road tax being a condition of cover and quite frankly I fail to see how it is relevant! I did tax the car as soon as I became aware and subsequently received a fine too! I refuse to pay this £58.03p cancellation fee, I think you've had enough of my hard to come by money for zero service! I am currently suffering from various ailments and depression, I have nothing worth taking, I live on a pittance in a grotty bedsit. And now I have to put up with your threats of debt collectors!!! Now I'm starting to get angry at the sheer greed and total lack of understanding or compassion your company is demonstrating and I am on the verge of going very public with this outrage. I expect a reply within 7 days. Yours, Mr Martin Willmott. Date of experience: 04 July 2024

Engine overheating, had to turn engine off as concerned my catch fire. Contacted RAC at 14.50, told patrol would arrive between 16.00 and 18.00. Then had a call saying patrol would arrive at 16.50. At 17.15, checked on line and found a message timed at 16.57 indicating patrol would now arrive between 19.00 and 21.00. We managed to limp home but would never recommend RAC breakdown cover to anyone. We're busy warning our friends and work colleagues to avoid!!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I had an appointment with the rac at 10 am and at 10:02 the messaged me telling me due to unforeseen circumstances your booking has been cancelled and moved to a date 2 weeks later. Below that message was a number to call if I wanted to discuss alternative dates. I pressed the number and no one would answer and it kept saying you have dialed an incorrect number. Makes no sense. I need my car fixed urgently I live alone work 5 days and week. Disgraceful and no apology explanation or compensation was given. Thanks a lot for nothing
