I have been expecting RAC Mobile Mechanics to carry out a FULL SERVICE today Tuesday 21/05/2024. I received an email this morning at 10:23 telling me they only have my postcode and it stated that I need to 'confirm the first line of address or else the booking will be cancelled', which I have replied straightaway. But I have provided my full address when booking the service and from the CONFIRMATION BOOKING, my full address is clearly stated. I tried to call their number 03330702784 many times, NO ONE ANSWERS !!!!!! I was hoping somebody is going to show up today to carry the service, I was sat at home hoping for the best but fearing for the worst!!! That is they are going to cancel my booking charging me £25 and no service!!!! At 5pm, NO REPLY, NO ANSWERS ON CALL, NO SHOW!!! WASTED MY TIME WAITED A WHOLE DAY!! I strongly question the authenticity of the positive reviews on TRUSTPILOT!!!

Abysmal service, useless automated telephone service - do the RAC employ anyone? exorbitant charges and membership. Needed them once in 7 years - gave up and called a local garage - quicker, cheaper and personal service. I will never use the RAC and my advice is avoid them at all costs, save your money and use it for a local garage if the need arises.

I've been with them maybe 10 years now… I've been with them maybe 10 years now and I don't think I've had one call out. I got a punchure by hitting a stone and was told that it's driver error so your not covered. Grim!!

My 78 year old brother-in-law together with my nephew had been on holiday in Lincolnshire. They called RAC breakdown to tell them it was a clutch problem. They were at side of road with their luggage in car. They were told it would be a couple of hours. 3 hours later a van turned up with no means of towing or repairing the clutch. Eventually someone turned up 10 hours later with a vehicle to take the car away. Told my brother-in-law there would be a taxi arriving shortly to take them to Lincoln to get a hire car so they could get home, the arrived home at 11pm. This is a disgrace, my nephew has had surgery for a brain tumour, he'd also suffered a stroke 3 years ago. To leave these vulnerable people at the side of the road for all that time is scandalous. I would NOT recommend RAC for your breakdown cover.

Decided to go with RAC for both my children when they passed their driving test. Having recently renewed my sons membership to what we believed included onward journey to anywhere in the UK we were told today no we will only drive you 10 miles. My son and his girlfriend broke down just outside Bristol this morning. My son was told he would have to wait 3 hours. An hour later he was told someone was on their way and would be 20-30 mins. An hour after this message he was told sorry it will be another 2 hours. I then called RAC to state that my son needed to get home as he had run out of medication. I was told at 4pm that he would be prioritised. By 7pm nothing so my husband and I borrowed a tow bar and drove 80 miles to get him. At 8.30pm he was told to expect a different breakdown company to be with him anytime up until 2am !! The breakdown man arrived at 10pm took a brief look stated he couldn't fix it and left (after sharing his less than favourable opinion of the RAC). After a 4.5 hour round trip of 160 miles we got them safely home. What an appalling service a 10 hour wait to be told there's nothing they can do, no garages open in a 10 mile radius. I will be cancelling both memberships immediately. I'm so angry that they were left with terrible communication and arrival times constantly changing. What a joke. Would advise people to avoid RAC at all costs

Apparently breakdown at home isn't on my insurance - I always opt for it. Then you are given a different number but end up at the same place going round and round... luckily I was at home but would be incredibly stressful at the side of a road. As I have not managed to get anyone out I can't comment on the actual service.

Purchased second hand Mercedes SLK. Came with RAC warranty (gold) Car broke down first time driving and nice lad Scott arrived and fitted new battery £204. He left red cover on battery but not screwed in properly. This fell into the engine and caused damage making the car illegal to drive!!! After 16 hours of abuse from customer service, told gold warranty doesn’t cover for ill fitting by RAC brake down guys!! Total cost for car including insurance, tax £12,000 !!!!! Car hasn’t moved since. The worst service I’ve ever came across in my entire life. The way I was treated by customer service was one of the most rude and stressful experiences I’ve ever experienced!!!!!!

What a disgraceful service, they treated me like it was 1980 mini cab service made me wait 7 hours for the patrol leaving without even contacting me the initial time was 60-90 minutes which was at 12.30 pm I called them every hour and oh 9 minutes away they apparently came around at 7.15 and didn’t even notify me that they had left like what a joke of. Service stay well away from these cowboys sent me email saying oh we sorry and that’s the end of my compliant think it’s an absolute disgrace of a service

For almost 30 years I was with the AA (never one issue) however this year I changed to get a cheaper price, biggest mistake of the year. My car would not start so called RAC as had home start, took four and half hours to arrive so missed all my appointments (4) for that day. Trying to speak to someone was impossible had to do everything on an app. I was informed by text I would get a 15 - 30 mins notice before arrival, NO, I got a phone call asking where I was when she was in my car park. I went straight out. I asked what would of happened if it was next week and I was going to the airport. Her abrupt reply was "Well you would have had to get a taxi" I live almost 2 hours from the airport! In the end she said battery no good. As it was a relatively new battery I found this stranage as she could not jump start it so I could do a longer drive. I was not offered a replacement at that time or any other alternative than "contact your supplier". PLEASE do not use the RAC - I regret so much leaving the AA - I am now having my car repaired locally.

A member for 20 plus years, and certainly not a pain as very few calls for help and none over the last 3 years, I find this year membership renewal went from £29.50 to £46.99, which by any stretch of the imagination is taking the ‘P’. I called your customer service number to cancel and within mintues of speaking to someone the price had magically come down to £31.00 which at the time I accepted following my call a few days later I checked with one of your competitor’s to find the same cover would cost £18.00 so I decided to go with them and called your customer services again to cancel. Even on this call there was some talk of coming down lower with the £31.00 quote which I told the guy I found insulting so had he offered it for a £1 I wouldn’t have stayed. It’s a great shame that being loyal counts for nothing anymore with the attitude being they have been with us long time they won’t leave, Always had great service from the guys and gals in the vans and I told the guy I spoke to that I didn’t blame him but I’d be happy to speak to a manager or such to tell them what I really think of the rise in membership. I contacted customer service by email and found them a total waste of time.

Very bad service. Firstly, the vehicle was broken down and RAC 💩 said they'll be there in half an hour. Suddenly, it changed to ONE hour, then TWO hours, then FOUR hours. Finally, when they arrived, RAC said they'll organise a taxi to pick us up. The taxi was supposed to be half an hour, then it got delayed again and again to the point where it didn't turn up at all!! Had to get an Uber myself. Terrible service, would not recommend to anyone at all!!!

Shocking. Came out to replace a battery, but were unable to do this - while visiting they broke the wire/plug into our DPF sensor. The next guy changed the battery and pointed out the plug break. RAC refuse to accept any fault for this, despite us now having a check engine light that we did not have before. Appalling service, I will never use them again.
