ZERO STARS don't touch. Go with AA. Young driver broke down midnight, dark, raining, unsafe location. Called RAC who said he didn't have any recovery. Although he knew he had, he knew he'd need recovery so he had to leave his car, call police, and pay to get home. Then first thing in the morning pay for recovery. Complaining to AVIVA that they'd sold recovery when RAC said they hadn't. This was all in March. Only now after Aviva looking into it, they say the issue is with RAC. So put a complaint with RAC, who basically say yes they said we didn't have recovery, which was wrong. But... WAIT FOR IT, because we cancelled the call out, which we had no option as there was no recovery, they THIS BUNCH OF COWBOYS, say they're not at fault!!! WHAT A JOKE... BUNCH OF FRAUDSTERS... stay well clear. I'm off back to AA!!!

I’ve been with the RAC for over 20 years. I was working at a different location for my job….not using my car to transport goods or making money from my car. Not a fleet vehicle. Not a company vehicle. My windscreen wiper flew off on a busy dual carriageway and it was raining heavily. 90 minutes to get through to find I’m not covered. £165 to come out for a windscreen wiper, which I had to wait another 90 minutes for. RAC you are a complete joke. Cancelled policy and gone with the AA.

Shocking customer service, cant find existing policy, will not honour item listed as covered. No call backs, no emails received, they love that it is so difficult to get hold of them. Constantly asked me to contact the RAC approved garage, constantly asked me to call back - RAC ! THATS YOUR JOB - be great if anyone actually did it !

The driver with an rac van is very rude, very inconsiderate, he has very dangerous driving He has a problem with disabled people Have asked him to stop Parking over my drive as I need 24/7 access and the taxi picks him up daily and can’t get access to my drive.

I am writing this to ensure nobody falls for sales tactics in shopping centres or conducts their own self purchases of RAC online . I had door to door cover and broke down last Sunday just north of Exeter at 4 pm . The RAC took my call and promptly passed me around on 3 occasions different lines whilst on a dangerous road to take their excess payment of £40 . They then told me they could not guarantee a pick up time . No updates were issued or follow ups and left me without any idea on what to do . Bad news is bad news but being fobbed off is worse . After I had to re ring and ring I was offered a possible 2 am pick up with my car or a quicker option of a hire car pick up and my car to follow 3-5 working days . This was a clear cheaper strategy to push you towards a hire car. I took the second option but there was no explanation of how this would work . The wrong location was given to the eventual pick up . At 10.15 Pm a private contracted out trucktook my car to the next service station in Taunton which was a whole 15 minutes journey . He had only been asked to do this at 8 pm and decided to do another job first despite my car being first on his list . There was no linking with a hire car and no details on how to avoid fines for leaving a clapped out car at services or where to leave the key for later transit of my car . I later found out RAC only pay £70 to Enterprise cars to give their customers a car if they cannot meet their contractual obligations . By the time we received the hire car and sorted out leaving my broken down car safely it was 12 midnight . 4 pm break down , 12 midnight and my car had been moved about 10 miles . I had to then drive back to Manchester arriving at 4 am. A nice round 4, 4 pm break down home by 4 am . It is now 5 days and my car has not been returned . No updates again or calls to explain . Poor resourcing of staff and capital is starting to be a common theme in the Uk but on top the RAC offer no communication or customer care . The help line is inhuman and purely delivered in a functional manner without any functional outcomes . On top they only answer what they are asked and don’t offer any other information that would help calm or explain a poor situation . Elderly or people with poor health would be at direct risk from this company . Please don’t use RAC for your own safety and don’t fall for their sakes tactics in shopping precincts .At times reviews can only see one side of the argument or be over dramatic but the above is 100% factually accurate account of the RAC on the M4 motorway

Avoid using RAC at all cost, I would have been left for 12 hours in -3 while in the middle of Wales if it wasn't for the traffic police. Also onward travel is a joke and don't answer the point. To make this better they also lost my car on the way back home taken it to the wrong location. Complaint made to RAC who advised there's nothing they can do. Would highly recommend using another recovery company.shocking service and even worse feedback.

My 80 year old Disabled step dad has been with the Rac for just over a year on a 2 year policy. First they told him he wasn't covered as his policy had run out, when he finally established that he was covered they left him waiting for 9 hours from midnight to 9 am in the morning in the cold. Had it not been for the police helping to move his car to a service station he would have been sat on the side of the motorway all this time. I have just cancelled his policy and would not recommend the Rac to anyone.

I called RAC at 9:00am and was told I was priority because I'm pregnant and someone would be with me shortly. Over three hours later and after many changing times someone still hadn't come and I was told they would be with me in another hour. It could take much longer then that, I have no idea. As a result I will cancel my subscription with them. I wouldn't recommend using RAC unless it's for a home start and your not waiting around for them.

They are worst company They are worst company, first they didn’t change the car to imported car and then I changed they last month insurance to the other car which already insured and said just cancel after completing yearly policy and give me my NCD… I was out country they start the new policy without asking 31/05/2024.. when I came back after holidays I phoned them on Monday they because 1st and 2nd June was Saturday and Sunday. Monday I phoned they are telling me the long procedure via DVLA…. And asking the cancellation fee… It is insane never happened before when you tell them u bought the insurance they maximum ask send the prove and cancel the insurance…. Here no email considering that car already insured from different company since March 2024. Rid staff and nonprofessional

Awful customer service department. I am still awaiting a resolution of my complaint that was raised over 6 weeks ago. I was misled into purchasing a premium battery from RAC at great expense and was told to reach out to their customer service department by their own engineer as he said they should address the issue given the circumstances. However, 6 weeks on and still no resolution from RAC customer service. They asked for evidence to be sent of the engineer selling the battery which I have said I will send to them, however, now they are attempting to avoid my emails and refusing to accept the evidence to be sent. I will continue to chase a resolution to my complaint and have notified independent dispute resolution services.

I live about 60 miles away from Trowbridge where we unfortunately broke down last night on a fuel carriage roundabout exit, they were the sloppy they said it would take anywhere from 2.30am to 4.30am to come and get us, they are an absolute joke, highly recommend aa

I was paying £45 per month for this shambolic service. Twice I have had the misfortune to have to all them. On the first occasion, the patrol was extremely rude and abandoned me on the motorway. A few days ago, again I had a terrible experience where I called them approximately at 18:30 and they kept pushing the time back. The final time I was given was 02:40 but fortunately for me two very kind gentleman helped to recover me and send me on my way. And all this was free of charge. Thank God there are decent and kind people who are willing to help you. My question to you is why was I paying an extortionate £45 a month for a service never received.

This company has me waiting over 24 hours for somebody to come and tow my car. I have been waiting in the cold with no battery power to charge my phone or to get heating. They told me to go home at 1 point and come back. I did and still waiting. I am now sick because of waiting in the cold car shivering. This company is ridiculous! I keep get given false hopes. I don't understand why I have been given a eta for it to just keep going up. Even if you guys was coming from Manchester to come to where I am you could of done the journey over 4 times now. I don't understand how I have paid for a breakdown cover service that clearly I'm not getting, I feel as I have waisted my money.

Waited 3 hours for patrol man & being constantly lied to by there call center , then told it would be six hours for the tow truck, then after six hours they told me it wouldn’t be until the next morning, absolute shocking company. AVOID THEM

Multiple attempts to cancel insurance for our deceased mother. More than 6 months and still the lawyer is being ignored to stop. Seems this topic was raised in the royal commission into banking and insurance and RAC think they can still take money from dead people. Disgusting.

that is second time RAC never accept that they did something wrong their petrol boke the key and i get the email that we investigate it and petrol did not brake the keys so no more discussion this i sour final email.thats all

We have been with you since 1978 and only called you out 4 times in October we called you out I was told I was not on the break down cover it had to be the member it is a joint member ship that was at 23.10 recoverd at 0730 next morn gave us 75 pound for our trouble that took weeks to come due to them not having our address since 1978 on 11may 2023 we put wrong fuel into our motorhome phoned at 12.50 told us to phone police to make us safe in a live lane phone them back when that was done 13.30 police came still there until 16.10 still no Rac police had to get there recovery for us charged 192 pound still waiting for a refund due to no recovery waited another 3 hours to have fuel removed by another firm very bad service will be leaving this year

Had a puncture called rac was told a pick up truck was on its way it arrived and car was put on truck and rac told me and truck driver to go to kwick fit in elgin 6 miles away all was great . Until I arrived at kwick fit truck driver left my car in car park and I was met by a kwik fit mechanic . He told me I needed a lease number from rac . I told him my car was not leased I was owner . So I called rac and they spoke with the guy he then went to his computer and put in my car reg ect and told me as they were closing I would need to leave my car over night and come back next morning at 0915 . So I was now stuck in middle of elgin 6 miles away from my holiday home in lossiemouth silver sands . So I flagged a taxi to take me back and then asked the guy to if he could return next morn to take me back to kwick fit which he did cost to me for both runs £40 . When arriving back at kwick fit next morning was told rac declined the tyre replacement they no longer deal with kwick fit so had to call them back . Was told they were now sending a mechanic from Aberdeen 2hr drive and wait for me was told to go get a place to wait and get coffee and something eat wile waiting. Mechanic arrived at 1200 put a plug in my tyre and told me to take it to kieth 23miles away just when he was about to leave told me the tyre wouldn't be ready until the Tuesday 4 days later . It was on order . Now I never knew or was told I could fit and pay for my tyre myself . My tyre cost is £160 fir my jag xe . And then try and get it back from rac. So I just took my car back to silver sands lossiemouth. And went down to kieth on the Tuesday. I emailed rac about the hassle and the extra day I had to spend at lossiemouth. Also told them of the extra expense I had for taxis food and extra day and night. Email back asking fir receipts which I never had as didn't think at the time I needed them I just flagged this taxi down and I couldn't remember the firm as it was weeks later. Was told by rac they can't reimburse me because I didn't have receipts. How could I have got back to my place without getting transport no bus goes to silver sands did they think I just walked the almost 7 miles there and back next morning . And just stood around for over 2hrs in the wind and rain waiting fir them to come from Aberdeen for nearly 2 1/2 hours . All in all for a punctured tyre the hassle was a disgrace the customer service was diabolical . And the reply from them is like tuff sorry but can't do nothing you kept receipts. Disgusting way to treat thaire customers .

RAC Been waiting for over a month for someone to contact me for my refund. They misdiagnosed my car... charged me nearly £300.... car broke down again and RAC came out and admitted the misdiagnosed my car.... I've been asking for my refund since 28th April and today one of their customer service staff ended the call when I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told I would get a response by 28th May and now they have extended the expected response date by another month...
