I see that RAC is now advertising their Trustpilot score of 7.4 %. WOW...That's nearly as good as Wonga.com 7.6%. Brilliant ! RAC Complaint No: UF 62164500

Called RAC at 11:40 to request a recovery from my home address to my local Ford garage 2.5 miles away and covered by my policy. Told I would be seen between 13:00 and 13:30. Spoke to them again when no arrival and advised would be with me between 15:00 and 15:30. Told they were having trouble getting a tow vehicle. As the garage closes at 18:00 and no sign of recovery by 17:00 I had to cancel my request for today. Been a customer for 18 years and am amazed and appalled RAC can not arrange a simple Recovery, which is their job. I will definitely be leaving this poor excuse for a Recovery Service. By the way at least three of their Call Handlers were so bored, unprofessional and one answered the phone by saying, "Hello" Didnt identify company etc, waste of time and absolute waste of my money.

Pay your Money and take your Chance. ! Better off putting your money into roulette than backing this joke of a company. Present CEO History...Flutteroo !! HBOS !! Poor service!! Called RAC at 11:42 this morning as I discovered that my battery was flat. I was told someone would be with me in 90 mins. No one arrived. Then I was told 5pm someone would be here. No one came. Then I was told 7 pm. Well it's now after 7 pm and guess what.....still waiting! Terribly awful service! I will say adios to RAC. You all should not be getting away with such poor service!!!

RAC online. What a shame someone in the company has devised an online page where a BUY NOW button appears first. DRIVES new customers away to a competitor who fairly displays prices upfront.🤨

RAC Complaint No: UF62164500 Still being blocked by Trustpilot who are safeguarding the interests of their fee playing client the RAC. Question is can this outfit be sold off to another private equity fund before the proverbial hits the fan.? Private Equity Funding and good service seldom go hand in hand. It is easy to spot the fakes on Trustpilot..So read the rest ..It is an alarming tale of fee paying people being taken for mugs. Utterly useless! My partner's van broke down in the middle of nowhere at 3pm. He called and the RAC told him that they were very busy but would get to him within 3 hours. A couple of calls later, and he was given a 6.45pm ETA. At 7.30 they called back to say that they would be there at 9.30pm. At this point, who would believe them? Were they going to keep moving the timeslot all night and into the next day? Rather than risk being stranded all night, he got a lift back to civilization and abandoned his work van. This is winter, miles from the nearest house, shop or public convenience. Had they told him that, due to high demand, it could take over 6 hours, he probably would have been able to make other arrangements, perhaps with a local garage. Instead he was strung along until this was no longer an option. Appalling lack of organisation and communication. We will be cancelling our membership asap, and suggesting all our friends and family do the same.

Wouldn't even give one star if possible. Allowed me to drive with a broken driveshaft, garage deemed the car dangerous to drive. After my complaint the driver lied and said I wanted to drive so he followed me. Now if I really thought that would I even have phoned. Complete cowboys who now won't even call me back... Been waiting since the 10/12/2019 for my call to be returned. Tried calling and no answer. Shows what kind of business they are running!

My son's car broke down because as he was carefully driving through some floodwater in a queue of traffic a person going the other way far too fast, sprayed water all over his car and it stopped, yes we have the dashcam footage. All the other cars got through successfully. He rang the RAC and was told that as it was floodwater he wasn't covered! We pay ÂŁ240 a year for membership and this is a total disgrace. Never again RAC shall I waste money on membership of your pathetic organisation.

Arrived this evening at Gatwick Airport after a long day's work in Edinburgh. Found my car had a flat battery. Called RAC at 9.45pm to be told I would likely have a 5 hour wait. Dreadful service which may leave me waiting until nearly 3am. To make matters worse the battery was sold to me by the RAC 10 months ago. I bought the expensive battery as was told it should last five years.

Wife's car broke down last night, called RAC who advised 2-3 hour wait. Luckily I was able to take her home in my car. Got to midnight, the 3 hours was up. Called back and said to the advisor that I read reviews stating that many people had waited closer to 8 hours and she agreed and told me that its a standard phone call response to say 2-3 hours. They simply dont have enough engineers. Needless to say we arranged for a patrol man to meet with us at 8am today....hmmm lets see?!

My car broke could not be driven as it broke down while parked in a hospital car park. Purchased an emergency breakdown cover from RAC for nearly £200. They told the wait could be for up to 4 hours on a quite cold night. They told me the “patrol” (as they call him) would call me on their way twenty minutes before getting there. I waited inside the hospital (considering the very cold weather especially at night) for that phone call for 3.5 hours and decided to give them a call. I was told the “patrol” did come out and tried to call me but was unable to get through so he left! After paying £200, a long wait and no service received, and reading all the negative reviews, I cannot believe how such a big company is still allowed to operate!

Very disappointed with the guy that turned up this morning. My battery was clearly flat, he charged it then to tell me it needed replacing at ÂŁ149 which I agreed to pay for. His attitude was very abrupt and quite intimidating being a lady by myself. He then proceeded to check my antifreeze and asked if i spilled any during my top up?! Then made another comment about a bolt missing under where the battery was going stating this was an MOT failure to which I replied it had just passed an MOT. His overall manner was very inditimadating and rude and I wont be renewing my policy with yourselfs as it made me feel very uncomfortable.

Woeful, disjointed information and customer service. We tried really hard to facilitate the insurance and telematics box process . We were met with unyielding and inept responses. Had to cancel our insurance ! Should have been straightforward but ended up being a long winded waste of time.

RAC COMPLAINT No UF 62164500 Have just tried to update site users on Trustpilot . Explained legal position of my claim against RAC and their refusal to honour their legal duty.. Result...They have blocked my review on that site. Whatever that says about RAC Breakdown it also does little to establish the integrity of Trustpilot. Suggest Trustpilot finishes with them ..If you want integrity and to honour your Title you should finish you commercial relationship with RAC Breakdown forthwith.

Never in all my years as a cab driver have I had such a terrible experience as this I broke down last week at 6-30 in the evening I called the RAC at 6-40 to be to it will be 3-4 hours which is ridiculous in its self I then called back at 8pm to get an update to be told that the job had been logged at 7-20 and there was a 6 hour wait furious was not the word I got another recovery company who are a tiny little company they were with me in 45 minutes I logged a complaint the next day took them a week to email me a pathetic reply my son and my wife are on my membership I couldn’t chance putting them in that situation and when you’ve been let down so badly you never forget it.

My husband made a call to register a breakdown just before 5pm this evening, it is now 9:30pm and he is still stuck on the hard shoulder of the M1. Despite numerous phone calls by me and my husband to yourselves , all giving diff variations of time scales he is still sat on the motorway in a very dangerous position. It was reported to them that all power to his vehicle had gone , this includes his lights. So on a dark very cold slippy night he is in a very precarious situation!!! Still waiting to be recovered. This resulted in the traffic officers coming to his assistance and they called me and advised me to log a very serious complaint with the RAC as they say 'this is incredibly dangerous and knowing where the vehicle is stationed and the conditions, they are suprised that a supposedly reputable company has not acted upon it sooner'. They themselves have called to speak to The RAC to find out exactly what has happened and why my husband has been let down. They advised that no one should be left for more than 2hrs in these conditions with the vehicle being in darkness. If the traffic officers are saying this and they work the motorways tirelessly then this says something about the RAC. According to their systems , it states that someone did arrive at 8pm. I can tell you this was not the case as my husband has not seen anybody except the traffic officers. This needs looking into as clearly someone is falsifying information. If someone did arrive, what was their assessment of my husbands vehicle and why is it still now on the motorway, not being recovered !! We feel incredibly let down by them who claim to be with you within 30-60 mins with no updates. The only updates we have been given are after we have had to call several times. All these are logged on mine and my husbands phone, and the traffic officers. It will be 10pm by the time the recovery vehicle gets to my husband, if this update is correct. This needs rectifying!!! Nobody else should have to go through this appalling service. If an accident or worse had occurred due to your gross negligence in this case, then the complaint I'm sure would be coming from the police. We would definitely not recommend them to anyone!!!!

Waiting around for them to help. What do we pay our membership for??? I told them i needed to go to work we'll be with you in 4 hour's then 7 hour's the time to help and call time gets longer and longer i have never needed them to help before now i do they are not there. Bye Bye RAC

No Shame! Imagine you were CEO of a company getting these reviews wouldn't you want to do something about it ! As hard as they try on Trustpilot by posting good reviews they carefully solicited, they still cannot prevent or drown the wave of condemnation that this outfit suffers. Trading Standards needs to look seriously at RAC Breakdown and consider whether in the public interest action should be taken against them.
