Junk ! 15 years plus with these robbing turds ..last 2 call outs over the past three years have been worse than pointless .. The second to last attempt to gain help I was left for 6 hours with no attempt ever made to collect me or my car I ended up having to find a recovery company. Do no use the RAC ... Pay the AA or anyone else for that matter ..

RAC promised to call me when they arrived. They did not. Instead, I got a message saying they tried to call me, which was untrue, because I had no missed calls during the time. I had my phone beside me at all times. I found the attitude of the call centre insulting and unacceptable.

Incredibly poor customer service, not only did they give me incorrect advice which cost me over £750, the lady in customer services was also incredibly rude. For this reason I will be cancelling my membership and wouldn't advise anyone else to sign up with them.

I phoned at 1500 because I'm car broke down whilst picking up my children from school. I phoned and was told as I have three very young children in the car I would be a priority. An hour waiting in minus 2 I managed to get a friend come and take the children home whilst I waited. Two hours later I was still waiting with no contact from RAC my friend came and picked me up so I could go and do dinner for children. I got home where I had internet and the online waiting time went up to 2200. This was a full 6 hrs after I rang. So how was this an emergency time from them. Lucky for my friend or I don't know what I would of done. It got to nine at night and still no contact, I got someone to tow it home with me sonat least it was at my house. Very dangerous with no engine but options were limited. We got it home and I phoned RAC again. They said it'll be tomorrow now, early morning. I'm sitting here now writing this with still no contact. It's been a full 22 hrs of waiting for them to help me. I would of died in the car if I was left waiting. STAY AWAY! I wil never use these again and will cancel my membership today. Pay ore and go AA.

I had to wait over 7 hours for someone to rescue me tonight. In the end it was a partner firm as apparently there were no RAC service vehicles available even though I was only 3 miles from home. What's more the partner firm arrived within 20 minutes and could easily have picked me up a couple of hours earlier at least. No accurate timings given and no follow up. I was also on the phone for over 2 hours in total because it takes half an hour to get through to anyone whenever you ring. The partner firm weren't asked to pick me up until after I had been waiting for 7 hours. It took a manager 2 hours to call me back at the very end of the long wait. He said he was the only manager on shift that evening! Interestingly an AA man stopped after I'd been waiting 2 hours to see if I was okay just out of the kindness of his heart. Had it not been for a friend who lived nearby who brought me food and tea on a very cold evening it would have been even more difficult. I'm lost for words really.

Yet another dreadful, dreadful experience with RAC Breakdown. Contacted them at 4:00pm via their contact number. Recorded message telling me to go online to log my details (not able to speak with an advisor at any point). Received a text stating estimated time of arrival 21:45pm - which I thought was bad enough - but they finally arrived just before midnight (8 hours in a freezing cold car with text updates every so often saying it would now be any time up to 12:50am. The final text from RAC themselves was 21:03 stating they were sending one of their, 'Trusted Partners'. Short phone call from RAC to say sending someone out to recover my vehicle. Waited with no update until approx 23:00pm when the Trusted Partner phoned to say any time up to 1:00am - another two hours in freezing temperatures. My initial texts from RAC asked if you are alone/elderly - I was/am both. Why do they ask this if it makes no difference to your wait time? The Trusted Partner phoned back to say they had a cancellation and would be 40 minutes. Hurray midnight and as it was only a 35-40 minute journey, I would be home by 1:00am- (9 hours). Trusted Partner arrived, gave him the postcode for his satnav and he set off in the opposite direction. Kept telling him he was getting further and further away from my destination and he refused to accept it until we were heading out to the M62/M1 instead of HARROGATE!!! I was freaking out as surely he knew the area. Eventually he turned round as he could see I was in a state of panic. Thus a short journey became a ridiculous and stressful event. This experience at 2:00am was bad enough for me as an older woman but can't imagine a young woman in the same situation. Clearly not acceptable. He did apologise as I disembarked from his truck. Not sure if that was for going miles and miles out of our way or for his general unpleasant demeanor / comments- but I have never been as happy to be on home turf. This is first the one star review I have ever given but I felt it necessary to make others aware. I hope RAC will take heed of these comments along with all their other terrible reviews.

RAC is worst uk breakdown service. I have been paying for months until I need their help for an easy fix breakdown and I was told to wait for seven hours for an engineer. The worst part is when I cancelled their membership they are now after me for a cancellation fee. Please never join RAC is worst of money. Join AA you will get excellent service for your money.

Shocking Experience I wish I wasn’t providing a one star score as the RAC doesn’t deserve a score, We arrived at a manned car park after an 11 hour flight to find our car had been broken by the car park attendants so we called the RAC to arrange a pick up for the vehicle to take us from Heathrow to South Wales (our cover has national breakdown assistance). This happened at around 5pm, we phoned initially and was told someone would be with us within around 2.5hours, but the time on the link they sent us kept changing, we were freezing cold as we couldn’t start the car to keep us warm. We called the RAC back after no one attended to be told that the next time they would get someone to us would be at 12:15am, we waited and again no one showed, after over 7 hours of waiting we called them back to be told we were best off finding a hotel then calling them back at 7am in the morning. We found a near by hotel and set the alarm and called them at 7am and spoke with a manager who informed us that we would get a call in the next hour to confirm where we would be picking up the rental car, 2 hours went by and no call! We called to be provided with an incorrect telephone number for the rental car firm which we had to chase and source ourselves. At every point of their service we were handled with undue care and attention, we were just fobbed off at every point of contact. They have confirmed that they will cover the costs for the hotel and rental car but this doesn’t cover the stress it’s caused us. I can’t understand why they would action something but then not let us know what they’ve done, they need to train their staff or put a process in place where their system keeps their customers informed. I’m now absolutely mentally and physically drained by the experience and the RAC has a lot to answer for,

RAC Warranty – what a mockery of a policy. I bought a car, and within the initial two months, the turbo failed despite the vehicle having only 20,000 miles. The Turbo had coolant and oil issues, but due to the slightest trace of carbon, the entire claim was abruptly cancelled. This decision was made despite the carbon being minuscule and impossible to accumulate significantly in the 1,000 miles I had driven the car. I was assured that RAC was the best, seeking peace of mind at the age of 18. Instead, they brought about stress, aggravation, and prolonged delays in getting the car repaired. Eventually, the burden fell on the garage where I purchased the car, causing a three-month period without a vehicle and rendering me unable to work during that time. In essence, it's a complete joke – strongly recommend steering clear.
