“Complaint Title:
Misleading Ticket Sale – Wrong Artist Image Used in Event Listing
Complaint Description:
I purchased 4 tickets for a total of $213.41 for an event in Sacramento on June 15, 2025, advertised as a performance by Alok, the well-known Brazilian DJ. The ticket was sold via StubHub, and the image shown on Google (connected to the StubHub event link) was that of the DJ Alok.
However, after completing the purchase and reviewing the event details, I discovered that the show is actually by Alok Vaid-Menon, a comedian. Although the names are similar, these are two completely different artists, and using the DJ’s image in connection with the event link is false and misleading advertising.
I contacted StubHub support, who acknowledged that the transaction was processed correctly in their system but refused to cancel the order or issue a refund, only offering to help me resell the tickets.
This violates California consumer protection laws, including California Business and Professions Code §22507 and regulations regarding deceptive trade practices. I was misled into making the purchase due to incorrect promotional material.
I am requesting:
Immediate cancellation of the order
Full refund of the purchase amount
An investigation into the use of misleading artist imagery in online listings
If this issue is not resolved, I am prepared to file formal complaints with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and other appropriate consumer protection agencies.”
“I wish I could give zero stars. I haven't used this company in over 2 years. Yesterday my account got hacked for several hundred dollars. StubHub said "sucks to be you, all sales are final" I was on an airplane when the transaction was made. They clearly had a security breach but said "not our problem" I cancelled my account immediately and now have to go through the process of getting a new card. Horrible company, Horrible account security, and even worse customer service.”
“I was supposed to attend the Xscape concert in Stockbridge, Ga. The event got cancelled due to the inclement weather. I had booked a hotel room for two nights. Which was a waste of money. They are refusing to give me a refund. Because the concert was postponed.”
“No delivery of tickets and no notification until less than 2 hours before the event. I spent almost 10 times the amount in flights and hotel and while they did provide a refund (still pending), they could not provide me with a replacement ticket. Horrible experience!”
“Bought tickets for broadway show, flew up to NYC with two hotel nights booked and two hours before the show with NO tickets received, contacted Stubhub who said the ticket owner was not responding to emails. So now have lost out on cost of ticket plus my travel! DO NOT USE STUBHUB. Would give negative stars if I could!”
“When I was buying my concert tickets, they sold me a parking ticket for the venue, which was miles away with a highway overpass above the sea (Miami), walking distance according to google maps is 1 hour 45 min. They refused to change or refund.”
“Do not buy tickets from StubHub. They tell you they have tickets and cancel right before the show and then give you terrible seats for the same price. HORRIBLE customer service!!! Run”
“I purchased a Chicago White Sox ticket in March for today's May 3rd 2025 game. It was not delivered to me as promised by 10:10 am. I had to purchase a ticket from Rate Fields box office. So I just checked my email and the delivered that ticket at 2:22 pm when the game started at 1:10 pm.”
“Bought the wrong date and immediately (30 seconds later) called Stub Hub to try to change the tickets. They refused and said I can buy another set with all of the fees. Then try selling the other tickets and lose money on the fees. I asked if that was ethical and the representative had no idea what the word ethical meant. I’d stay away from this company and buy tickets elsewhere.”
“Do not purchase anything from stub hub. I purchased tickets that were not valid. Then when I tried to reach out to stub hub the wait was over 1 hour. After getting ahold of somebody they said they wouldn't refund. I suggest anyone who has been stolen from stub hub to call you CC and report it.”
“I wouldn't even offer a 1, if it weren't the only way this would let me continue with the review.
It's a 100% scam. The customer service is a joke.
I Purchased a parking pass for a May 1st event. I received a pass for May 3rd. I only figured this out at the time I was trying to park and was denied access. So I focused on finding a new parking location on the fly, so that I could still attend the event.
I Notified them on May 2nd for a refund. I was refused the refund, because Screwyouhub wasn't notified during the event. They were made aware of the issue on May 2nd. Technically it was 24hrs before the event, seeing as the parking pas was issued in error for May 3rd.
In the end a 25% voucher was offered.
This company is a joke. Never use them.”
“Worst company I've ever had the displeasure of purchasing tickets from. Fees double what tickets cost and were hidden behind extra buttons at checkout so I was paying more than what I was told I would be paying. DO NOT USE STUBHUB”
“Transfer was easy, buying the tickets was easy, the resale price was actually reasonable. Why were the fees attached almost more than the tickets?!? Absolutely insane.”
“allows you to relist tickets if you can't make it and "guarantees" you will get your tickets - but if you relist tickets, it stops selling them 48 hours prior because they can't "guarantee" they will have them. WHich is it??? HORRIBLE.”
“While I did receive the tickets I purchased through StubHub in a timely manner and with no entry complications, I find the $100+ service fee OUTRAGEOUS! The tickets were about $265 a piece but to add almost 40% as a “service” fee is usurious.”
“TERRIBLE! DO NOT USE STUBHUB! I bought a 3 day ticket, received the email from StubHub for the 3 day ticket weeks before the event. 3 days before the event I receive a 1 day ticket, I reached out to StubHub multiple times, they stated “the computer glitched the seller posted a 1 day ticket, I said but my email states 3 day, they acknowledged the error, however did absolutely nothing to fix the problem other then offer me a refund, their Fan Protection isn’t for you the buyer at all, Customer Service is a joke & a bad one! Spent hours trying to get them be be accountable for their error & got no where! Have nothing good to say about them.”
“Bought tickets to Beyoncé concert within couple of hours before the event. First was doubtful whether if will I get my tickets as the price was too good to be true. But all went well. Except for one thing: once tickets were purchased, StubHub sent the link for downloading the tickets. The link redirected to Ticketmaster page. For me that was an issue, as ticketmaster wouldn’t let me download the tickets until I sign up on their page. And tm was refusing my registration as I did not have USA sim card (I am a tourist and in states I use eSIM with no phone number and data only, no number, no sms). So I had to go and buy USA SIM card for 60$ just to be able to get my tickets. I did not book on Ticketmaster in a first place as I originally couldn’t register there due to not having SIM card. But at the end I still had to purchase that SIM card which I didn’t even use much as I left the country shortly after. StubHub did not ask for phone number for tickets purchase, so I was very happy first. But when they sent link to Ticketmaster I felt a bit disappointed. I understand it’s for safety reasons, but it wasn’t convenient for me as Ticketmaster refused my home country SIM cards.
In other words, I was pleased with StubHub, but not pleased that third party was a hustle for me. If you have USA sim card, you should be fine.”
“Purchasing tickets were easy and efficient. I was hesitant at first because it wasn't Ticketmaster but since Stubhub advertised the tickets would be transferred through Ticketmaster I purchased them. I also felt more confident about their money back guarantee.”
