“I previously used A-Plan in St. Albans and have found that Horsham provide an equally good service. I am puzzled however that you only seem to refer to a limited number of Insurers when obtaining competitive quotes and that sometimes I might do better by trying the market myself. I would prefer not to have to do this but would like your comments.”

Dear Mr Strong We are delighted that you have been pleased with the service you received from our St Albans and Horsham branches. We deal with a broad selection of insurers, which includes a number of the well-known names in the insurance market. Each time we provide a quotation (and at renewal for existing clients) we review our panel of insurers to ensure that the cover offered meets our client's requirements and, of course, provides overall value for money, especially when taking into account the vital elements of service and cover (very important when it comes to a claim). We do not deal with the 'direct insurers', as they will only deal directly with the public and do not offer their policies through brokers. This doesn't mean that we are unable compete on price of course. Our knowledge and the facilities we have with our panel insurers means that we are able to offer competitive rates, and our relationships with insurers also means we have ready access to decision makers on behalf of our clients if ever there is a need. “Although your representative was polite and explained what I wanted to know before I purchased the policy, I was not very happy with when I had bought a 'modified vehicle' policy, the statement of fact stated 'no modifications'! When I inquired why, I feel that I was being fobbed off with a load of rubbish about and I quote ' that's all o.k., the form won't let me load modifications' and 'its o.k., we all know about it and conversations are recorded'. This is obviously NOT what I expect and a 'A STATEMENT OF FACT' should be just that - FACT. I was not impressed and will be seeking quotes from other companies next year.”

We do have branches that specialise in a particular area of insurance, for example, commercial, travel, taxi and even marine insurance teams, and we do this to ensure that our clients receive the very best help and guidance when it comes to considering their individual needs. “The rating would have been very good but sadly I have been told by my son that there is an 'accident' marked down on my policy from a few years back which never happened. He called in to put me on his insurance which would cost a lot more because of this 'accident'. I was a company car driver and the garage manager had forwarded a letter stating I had no accidents but somehow this was not put down on my insurance. I would have complained but I have already paid and will probably move my insurance elsewhere when it expires. Andrew Compton”

“A very dedicated and organised sales team! Can't make any comments about claims or aftersales but the young guy who worked with me was really excellent. Also very good value for me - a middle aged dullard with a boring old car!”
