“My order was placed on 27th February, and the item was advertised as having a 2-7day delivery window. It was dispatched on 28th February.
By 8th March, it hadn’t arrived - 7 working days had now passed. I called the customer service number for advice, and as a result, the tracking details were updated by XDP. The item was dispatched on 28th Feb but as of 9th Feb (when XDP then updated their tracking details), there was no delivery date indicated. The £9.95 delivery charge was refunded at this point, but Aldi still have £460 of my money and I have no item.
I’ve communicated with Aldi throughout this period via email, on Messenger and on the Facebook page. Nobody has found a resolution, and nobody has been able to contact XDP and locate the item, or advise on a delivery date.
Tonight, I have called the customer service line again. It is now 13 working days since dispatch. The lady who answered agreed that this was no beyond the point of waiting for delivery, and called her manager to authorise a refund. He refused. He said I had to wait ten working days as items are usually delivered in this window (which I was also told when I called last week).
I explained that I had waited 13 days already, and that she needed to go back to the manager and ensure that he understood that it has been 13 days already. She suggested I had called her a liar (I never mentioned that word or even hinted at it - I had suggested that the manager didn’t understand how long I’d waited). She tried again, but the manager refused. He said I need to wait ten working days from when XDP last updated their system, which is an entirely different expectation to the one outlined last week, which was to wait ten days from dispatch.
She refused to let me speak to that manager - it is not Aldi policy to do so. How can this be the case? How can customers have no way of escalating a complaint?”
“If you start with 10 items in a grocery card today, in a few months 30% of those items will become discontinued by Aldi. Aldi plays as if it is buying surplus and or discounted items or high yield low quality items such as fruits from manufacturers and places them on its shelves as long as it lasts, then it becomes discontinued items no matter how the customer has become dependent on that item. The item could be a medical need but it will be discontinued. The Albert Discount is no longer at a lower price as I found some items are more expensive than they are in Kroger or other stores. This matter has been discussed with the customer feedback, but never have seen any actual result.

“Recently Aldi sold their car park to a private parking company. Today i received a penalty change notification for £100 because my blue badge had slid off the dashboard. I parked in a disabled bay because i have a badge. It was 8pm on a Saturday night and the store was not busy. Because of my anxiety i like to use the store when it's quieter. I only called for a few essential items like bread and milk and was in the store for around 10 minutes. I am unable to work and receive benefits. I really cannot afford this fine. I will no longer be a loyal customer of this store. 🤬 You!”
“Ordered a Jackhammer (online only). Couriers tracking recorded collection a month ago and subsequently five failed attempts to deliver it (not on which was our fault). Unable to connect with the the courier's so-called customer service team due to them being inundated (I wonder why?), I resorted to phoning Aldi's. Give us 48hrs to look into it they said. A week later with no news, the same promise and failure a second time. The product is no longer available so the can't replace it, and I'm still awaiting a refund in order to buy one elsewhere. Total shambles! I can't complete most of the review because it doesn't allow for non-delivery and non-refund.”
“Not had a bad experience, but very disappointed unable to purchase batteries for my Ferrex products. I’ve been trying for over six months in store and on line, none available. My concern is that I’ve purchased lots of these products, no batteries with any of them. I currently have six products I can’t use because no batteries. Can you advise where, when I can get them.”
“So I love shopping at aldi at the Ramona location. I save a lot compared to stat bros. But I have to be honest o put one thing, I question how well the tray employees. I not they throw things in the cart when checking out like fast and furious. The cashier are time by speed and they end up damaging the food. Hope this company is not another slave driving company. You know to many chefs and not enough little Indian. Retail is hard but they push really hard. That’s to bad.”
“I'd give Aldi 5 stars if they gave you a second to look at your receipt. More than 1/2 the time they charge double for items or the listed sale price does not reflect because they have to work too fast. Therefore, it has become a job to get refunded. It causes anxiety which is why many skip the store.”
“I went to Aldi today and picked up a handful of items. The check out person first dropped one of the items on the floor and said ooops the total was Apx $18 and I gave her a $50 and she gave me change for a 20. Then she said oh yea you gave me a 50. Then she said I have to have a manager come over . Then I had to wait while they took the drawer back to the office and counted it. They did determine I did indeed give her a $50 and they did apologize but I had to wait around Apx 20 minutes while this was happening making me late for other things. It was also at end of shift and the check out person was going home. They said that they have been scammed in the past so they have to verify which I understand but she acknowledged I gave her a 50 and it seems a little bit fishy that it happened at the end of her shift. Mistakes happen but this was very annoying as it waisted my time for nothing. I asked how are they going to make this right other then an aPology and crickets. Also on the way out when I was talking to a supervisor the check out person made a inappropriate comment which the supervisor said she will deal with her inappropriatenesses. My first thought was perhaps this was a scam who knows but it sure felt that way.”
“Still waiting for £40 parking fine refund. Its a joke don’t park in Aldi car parks they fine you, cancel your fine then don’t give your money back. Boycott Aldi, park on the street not in there auto fine car parks. Unscrupulous. I’m seething.”
“Very bad customer service, I have been in more than one Aldi stores and its the same thing, rude assistance. Never going to buy at this store. Aweful experience...”
“I had a full trolley of shopping today at aldi in Biggleswade. I packed everything into trolley and paid in cash 2×£50 notes only to br told you do not accept legal tender in these notes. Was then assaulted by staff trying to prise the trolley from me. Absolutely disgusted by the actions of staff which could have resulted in a much worse situation had I not been a calm person. I left the trolley and will certainly never ship there again. I have never in 58 years had a shop refuse legal tender, I am not even sure it is legal to refuse legal tender”
“Bought a pair of curtains online which was very easy to do. The website is easy to navigate and use.
The curtains arrived promptly which was impressive. When the parcel was opened only one curtain. Contacted customer service who advised sending them back, but I just want the curtain I payed for”
