we bought a buy a gift voucher for Greenwoods hotel and Spa, Stock, Essex for my daughter in law and Granddaughter. We tried to contact them by telephone several times, we hung on, were passed from pillar to post, waited in a queue and eventually got cut off, twice! The same thing happened again this morning! an e mail told us that nothing was available until 3rd and September, by which time they will,have gone home. The receptionist told us the manager was unavailable. So disappointed, a lovely hotel but no customer service.

Purchased a voucher to use for a specific occasion but when I called to book the date (3 weeks in advance) I was told the experience provider has no availability until mid September. Not entirely Buyagift's fault but it means I can't use the experience for the occasion it was intended and may struggle to use it at all, so wasted my money on the voucher. It would be helpful if Buyagift gave some indication of availability on their website before people committed to buying their voucher.

Poor customer service. Experience provider closed down after we had booked our experience. First we found about it was when we arrived as provider failed to answer their phone. Buyagift knew that they had shut down but failed to inform us. All they offered was their usual 20 percent off another experience and the world’s smallest box of chocolates. Not happy

Got a gift for our wedding present, vouchers only last 10 months and run out, they wanted nearly as much as the value in the vouchers to extend them by another 10 months. Stupid validity length and really found it a bit of a cash cow for them making even more money extending the vouchers by another 10 months.

Ordered a break for a gift , Standard delivery was 4 - 5 days so I paid for next day delivery , it turned up 6 days later , a day after the party . Emailed twice and got zero response , rubbish

STILL having trouble using website? Keeps on saying my card is invalid!!! Spoke last year to the team but was laughed at and did told obviously I didn’t have the money!! Suffice to say went elsewhere and used my card to buy gifts no problem, have been using other sites no problem , so thought is give buy a gift another go, guess what my card was invalid again!! This time I called up and bought the gift over the phone , a birthday present and it came but spelt completely incorrectly!!!!! It’s gonna look really good thanks team will go back to virgin experiences there wen site works!!!

DO NOT USE TO BUY ACCOMMODATION. You will not be able to use the voucher in a nice(ish) hotel and certainly not on a weekend or during any time of year except maybe a Wednesday mid-winter. Then your voucher will expire and they will charge you £20 to try and use it on something else.

Avoid them. I combined two vouchers and put my own money in as well to book a deluxe night in a hotel, including dinner and breakfast - it total about £200. The hotel choice in Cornwall, where I wanted to go, was poor. In the end I chose a Bodmin hotel (not somewhere I wanted to stay, but the hotel looked reasonable). The hotel was not keen to accept the vouchers as it was peak season (September?!?) and when the did it was on the basis that I booked and paid for two other nights. The hotel are now querying with Buyagift how much they will be paid to cover the nights stay. Strikes me nobody wins out of the other than Buyagift. I did try phoning them for help - that was a waste of time!

Beware! They don't deserve your patronage. The organisation appear to be dysfunctional and definitely unreliable. For your safety, make sure you have confirmation of every dealings with this unreliable organisation in writing. I contacted the organisation a few weeks before the expiration of my combined experience vouchers; an employee of buyagift advised me that my vouchers are extended until December this year 2019. About two weeks ago, I discovered that only one of the combined vouchers was extended. Subsequently, I contacted the organisation and a manager informed me that the extension was made in error by an employee who no longer works at the organisation. Finally, she advised me to go online to extend the voucher by another £20. I have already paid £40 previously to extend the voucher on the top of the actual cost of the voucher. Don't waste your hard earned cash with this organisation. Stay off, there are better and reliable alternatives to buyagift.

Bought a voucher for a B&B stay. What a waste of time it cost £60 more than it would have done if I had booked with the B&B direct.

I’m sure the actual day out will be amazing but the delivery is awful. Paid £7.50 for next day delivery and that was 17 days ago. No idea where it is 👍🏻 Great

Had a voucher tried to convert to indoor skydiving couldn’t make use of discounted offer Tried to book hotel, Novotel Blackfriars, really looking forward to it booked Globe theatre to tie in with date 29 August when I wanted to go, converted my voucher but date not available despite being a Thursday two months ahead, they had not got buy a gift availability at hotel despite hotel not being full !!! Totally frustrated!

All the hotels that we work with do aim to accommodate as many Buyagift customer bookings as possible, but some hotels may be fully booked at certain times. The hotels do have a set number of room allocations for Buyagift vouchers and once this quota has been filled they may have to advise certain dates are fully booked. To minimise any disappointment this may cause, the hotels will always try to make extra rooms available where possible. In addition to this, Buyagift always aim to add information regarding limited availability to the product webpage and also to the My Voucher site. If you are unable to make a booking with any of the hotels of your choice on your preferred dates, you are always welcome to extend or exchange your voucher. Simply log into www.buyagift.com/myvoucher We apologise for any disappointment caused but hope the above information has been helpful.

I bought a meal for 2 deal from you for my sons birthday. I gave him the gift card and he went ahead and booked the restaurant in London, booked a hotel nearby, booked trains etc. He then got a message from the restaurant saying that they had cancelled his booking due to fraudulent behavior! At no point was I contacted by yourselves, the mess up was at your end as you had sent the wrong voucher out. Your customer service needs improvement. I shall use a different company from now on.

Item turned up never took them of the van as they were totally smashed the packaging for them item was diabolical no protection at all very disappointed

The voucher we purchased was not valid in many of the locations that it was advertised for (only 8 out of 21 advertised locations accept the voucher). Nearly a week later they are still advertising the voucher for use in places which have stopped accepting them.

Despite our best efforts, there are occasionally circumstances beyond our control that can lead to a voucher no longer being possible at specific locations given the length of time our vouchers are valid for. If none of the other locations are suitable, It's really easy to exchange your voucher! Just visit www.buyagift.com/myvoucher and once logged in click 'exchange my voucher' and you'll be able to browse all the experiences available to exchange to. You can search for a new experience by category or keyword/product code. I hope the above helps!

Online booking easy to use. Next day delivery not so good. 5 days after ordering, it still has not arrived. I wouldn’t use if you’re in a hurry!

Not good value for money in comparison to making the booking direct. Two night stay at Stradley Park Hotel in a standard double on Buy a Gift is £220. Buy direct is £170 and this includes dinner for two on the Thursday night that we are staying. For the £220 that the voucher cost if I had gone direct I would have had a superior spa double and dinner for two. My children bought the voucher and it was a significant sum of money for them, I don’t like to see them being ripped off.

The gifts are not good value for money and are a significant premium on the price that you would pay direct with the hotel. 2 night stay at Stradley Park Hotel in a standard double on Buy a Gift is £220. Book direct is £170 and includes dinner for two on the Thursday evening. One night in the Hackness Grange is £209 on Buy a Gift and £165 bought direct. £200 was a significant gift from my children and Buy a Gift are not giving a good deal just a big mark up for themselves. I don’t like to be ripped off and certainly don’t want my children to be who thought it was a good gift.
