My Jaguar was totaled by an 8 point buck weighing around 350 lbs. It was a complete surprise and the insurance gave me 20% less than I thought the car was worth so I was rather heart broken. The Jaguar XJ8 cost me no more than my Buick Park Avenue and I really enjoyed the car. With less money than the car was worth, I shopped for a year for another Jaguar and found a mid-priced 2004 with 25,500 miles. In 11 years the car had averaged 2,300 miles per year, or 44 miles per week. I could not find another Jaguar with that low a mileage in the 2003-2008 Jaguar line and thought the mileage had to be wrong. Carfax verified the mileage and I purchased the vehicle. Unbelievably, the local Jaguar dealer gave a passing grade to the car mechanically on their 35 point inspection list. Checked good condition on all items and I have a car that mechanically is about 2.5 years old, and the interior appears brand new. Thank goodness there is a way to verify mileage. Worth the fee, Paul

Obviously, CARFAX doesn't have all the information on every car because many maintainence jobs and basic oil changes, et cetera, are not reported (such as work done at Walmart). However, I would and did not consider even buying a car without looking at CARFAX report and finding a vehicle with clear history. CARFAX was an invaluable asset in finding a car with a guaranteed good maintenance history.

I used the car fax to learn about the vehicles history on 2002 WRX I was going to buy. The previous owner wasn't sure of the vehicles history. I'm glad I learned the source of the damage that was on the vehicle and that the vehicle was well maintained in its early years with receiving regular service and oil changes.

It helped me narrow down the car of my dream. First few cars I saw the seller hide the fact there was damage. Carfax assured me otherwise

Carfax is a valuable service that everybody should have if they are shopping for a used car. It has saved me tons of headaches and given me great information on how the vehicle was maintained and what types of owners it had.

I knew exactly which car I wanted to buy. Unfortunately, since the company stopped manufacturing them in 2012, I knew that this probably would be my last opportunity to get one of the later models. I saw the car I wanted at a dealer; I contacted Carfax, and I received a report that shed questionable light on my prospective purchase: long-story-short, it had had 2 owners, and one of them had been involved in an accident. I was able to get more info on the car, and it came with a limited (60 days) warrantee. I did homework taking it to a service station, getting some advice, and then to a dealer to have it examined. I then took it back to my seller whose service department did a few hours' work on it. This, followed by my installing best quality new tires on it has bumped it up to Best and Brightest in the land!! My "new baby..."

I used CARFAX report when I was searching to buy a used car. It was helpful for me because I was about to buy a car of a friend of mine. She had said the car has involved no accident. However, when I checked the CARFAX report the car had an accident as well as an odometer issue. So, I did not buy this car. I purchased another one which has clear CARFAX report. However, I realized that some information may not be included in the CARFAX report. For example, I am the third owner of my car but the CARFAX says I am the second one. It is better if you could check your algorithm to clarify the number of owner. In addition, CARFAX price adjustment means nothing to me because there were no clear pattern about this adjustment. You may add a legend about this adjustment. For example, what are the criteria when a car is worth more or less?

I bought a 2010 Nissan Altima. The Carfax report showed the detail story about this vehicle and I got a good price on it due to minor damage accident and few service records. Also, I helped few friends to check the reports which avoid them to buy trouble cars. We got a great experience with Carfax. Thanks!

The car I was looking at came back with a report that there had been numerous owners....for a 2011 vehicle. Apparently the first four were dealers who the owners maybe wanted to have for themselves and then decided to let it move on to another dealer. The person I bought it from was the fifth and me the sixth! It originally went to a dealer in NH, then to NY, then to NJ and finally to a dealer in GA where the seller bought it. These were not used car dealers but the OE manufacturer dealers. It was immaculate with very acceptable mileage enough for me to buy it for less than 1/2 the MSRP! I feel I got a good deal thanks to all the history provided by CarFax

Carfax was a great first-pass resource for my recent used car purchase. I used the data from Carfax as well as data from free national and state databases to confirm there was nothing unusual with the car from a mileage, title quality, or emissions standpoint. I strongly recommend pulling a Carfax report before buying a used car. If it checks out, have a thorough pre-purchase inspection completed by a professional you trust.
