Appalling. They deliberately provide no phone number so you're forced to interact via live chat. The first time I did that I was placed 12th in the queue, but it took so long for them to get to me that I was forced to abandon the process. Later, when a discrepancy arose after I took out car insurance, they emailed and wrote to me – an odd duplication of work for a company otherwise committed to doing the bare minimum – asking me to submit more documents. Having done so, they emailed me to tell me how much my quote would increase by, but not the new overall total. Then they tried to take the additional payment from an account so suspiciously named, my bank blocked it, decided it was fraud and issued me a new card. One Protect then wrote to me telling me my insurance would be cancelled but failed to say why. Instead, they directed me to their hopeless online portal, where I found zero information. So again, I was forced to engage in their degrading live chat "feature". I was placed 85th in the queue. Finally someone helpful (Bethany, the single star I am awarding is for you) was able to explain that the apparently fraudulent payment was in fact them, but also that the new total for my premium was to be nearly 100% more than the original quote. I am now cancelling my insurance, for which I am to be charged a £60 administration fee, despite there having been little to no administration to speak of, of anything, at any point.

My car insurance price was very competitive and easy to arrange. I did not know my policy would auto-renew until I received my renewal quote. At this point I was disappointed to find out that you cannot remove auto -renew via the online portal, and the ONLY way to do so is via the online chat system. I was 85th in the queue when I logged on. After what seemed an age, I got to "chat" with an agent identified as ruby-rose (RW1). This agent was very efficient, quick to respond and very polite. Understandably, several attempts were made to retain my business, however I had already taken out a policy with another company. The agent confirmed the auto renew was removed and the policy would lapse. The only communication I had with this company was via the live chat, which was successful, despite wait time being excessive. I suggest alternative lines of communication be opened to deal with this, as currently it could appear that it is a deliberate ploy to discourage people from looking elsewhere for insurance.
