I’ve been with One Call Insurance for 5years, always renewed without issue, and have generally been happy with the prices and service until now. In December 2025 my Direct Debit failed because I’m currently unemployed and in financial hardship. Unfortunately I didn’t see the warning email in time and didn’t receive the letter or the phone calls One Call say they made. On 7 December my policy was automatically cancelled. When I discovered this on 8 December I immediately contacted live chat and begged for reinstatement as a one-off goodwill gesture, given my long history with them and the fact this was the first and only missed payment ever. Both the original agent and later a manager were polite and sympathetic. Went above and beyond by progressively waiving the entire £144 cancellation fee and a £40 broker fee, eventually leaving only the £48.62 of unpaid premium (which is now being collected on 31 Dec). That generosity is genuinely appreciated. However, despite all of that, they both repeatedly told me that One Call’s policy is “once cancelled for non-payment, it can never be reinstated under any circumstances” even for a long standing customer in hardship who contacted them literally one day after cancellation. I completely accept the missed payment was my mistake, but I do feel the blanket “no reinstatement” rule is overly harsh when a loyal customer is willing and able to bring the payments up to date immediately. In the end I will have to take out a brand-new policy and hope my no-claims bonus is fully protected. One Call did everything correctly by the letter of their terms, but they lost the opportunity to show real customer loyalty in a genuine hardship case. Date of experience: 09 December 2025. Letter arrived on 10 December 2025.
