“I am so disappointed about the lack of customer service with this company, I received today.
Without naming and shaming this customer service repressive I spoke with. She was rude unhelpful and does not deserve to be part of a team. Maybe Easirent should put her on valeting the cars not dealing with customers on the phone, or at least give her training how to talk to people, not OVER them. Although in the terms and conditions it says up to 10 days for a refund, I was informed that it could take up to 28 days for the process. I asked where this appears on the web site she informed me that it could just take that long although not stated anywhere in black and white (IS THAT HOW EASIRENT MAKE THEIR MONEY ON OUR INTEREST?) She then informed me about being up to something called stage 3 in the process of 4, but could not outline how long it will now take. It was obvious that she was not interested in helping sort the situation out, just wanted to be awkward.
I have had a few issues with this company I will hold my hands up and say both parties are to blame, some of the staff were helpful but some terrible, but this was just the nail in the coffin for me.
After writing this review I wonder how long it will take my refund to come through? will let you know.... The refund which has come out of my credit card is over $3000 Aussie Dollars and $95 fuel, I've had to return the car early as need cashback in the account back home.
I took the car back the following morning after realizing my mistake the branch manager basically said tough luck I would not get any money back for car hire.
Is this how the owners of Easirent really want their clients to remember their experience of car hire... Cordine”
“Never heard of them before but they stated they were on airport so gave them a go. Firstly, they are off airport with no representatives in the airport. You are given a number to ring which, for me, went unanswered. The voucher says to go to zone 16 and pick up their bus to their office. So, with assistance, I find zone 16 which is outside between T1 and T2. I also find someone else waiting for the easirent bus. This poor man has been waiting over 40 mins and just flown in from Australia. He was told the bus was yellow and comes every 30 mins. There was a yellow bus there with a sign for Hilton Hotel, however on speaking to the driver it turned out that this was also our transport! The story doesn’t end there as the bus did indeed serve the Hilton and was going there first! About 6 miles from the airport!! It dropped off some people then went back to the airport industrial estate where their office is and over the road from the airport.
There was one person working in the office. He was seeing to customers, completing paperwork and taking them around the car.
The car itself had dents and scratches which were not marked on the paperwork. If I had not pointed them out, I could well have been liable which is a frightening thought.
The return process was easier, however a family member followed me to return the car and take me to the airport. It took 2 hours from arriving to collecting the car to getting to my dads 5 miles away- it normally takes an hour.
The whole process felt like a scam. They charge for everything including too much sand in the car. That will cost €300. Reading other reviews, I feel I would have been charged for the dents and scratches that they had not noted on the paperwork and thankful that I pointed them out.
I do not recommend this company and will never use them again.”
“Absolutely terrible to deal with. Ordered a van for pick up and paid in advance. Got there and no record of it plus systems down for over 2 hours. I had to leave and go find another company because I had people booked to move that day. It’s taken over 2 months to get my money back. I complained several times. All emails were ignored. I also rang up to a rude woman who was condescending telling me she wouldn’t speak to me until I registered my complaint online. Which I had done but because again the systems were down she couldn’t deal with it. Finally after managing to get online again a few days later they had closed my complaint. I then raised another. A further 3 weeks later I got a response from the branch manager who had closed it down again ( so no right of reply) and had issued a refund a week after that. No money towards the taxi I had to get to go back home and pick up my own car to go to another Van place. So I’m out of pocket.
The staff weren’t bothered at all. When I had arrived there was at least 15 people stuck waiting and when someone else said I am going to complain for loss of time etc she was told in full view of everyone that she could do what she wants and shrugged his shoulders- he didn’t care.
The staff are rude and Customer service is not customer service at all. They don’t understand the meaning of customer services. I would never recommend using them. There are more friendly, efficient hire firms locally to use instead. So please avoid.”
“Easirent is a car rental company without any cars as despite pre booking and paying when arriving at Dublin airport on 228/19 I was told they had nothing but people carriers. I was left stranded at Dublin without any real concern by Easirent employees or any help. I have complained so far no response but I will get my money back whatever it takes eg small claims court.”
“We rented a vehicle that supposed would hold 7 passengers and luggage in Dublin. After calling three times for the shuttle service, total of an hour, then waiting in line for a good 45 minutes, we asked to see the rental, but was told had to do the paperwork first. When seeing the rental it was obvious the van was not what was described to us. The company had nothing else to offer our family, and was told a refund would be submitted. No one ever said it wouldn't be a FULL refund. This company is awful. They are the ones who gave us FALSE info on this vehicle and then kept three days of the rental fee. DO NOT and I REPEAT, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are AWFUL to deal with. Rowden and LEWIS families of Chicago Il.”
“Truly appalling experience and customer service. We booked a 5+2 seater car online a number of months before we travelled to Dublin from the UK. We arrived at Easirent's office to be informed that no car was available for us. They sent us to Sixt where we are currently sat. There was little to no customer service, and Lauren the advisor simply said that she would 'text someone at Sixt' to let them know we were on our way. She advised us to contact head office for compensation.
This has been the worst experience I have had with a rental car company. For your own peace of mind, do not use Easirent.
UPDATE: two weeks after making a complaint to Easirent, I have heard nothing back. The deposit has not been repaid either. No customer service email or telephone to query timeline, and the company's Twitter has suggested that, as I have tagged them ~20 times, I am being 'abusive'. This is a tactic they employ with everyone who takes issue with their services via Twitter.
UPDATE: Three weeks later we have had nothing about our complaint. I have checked the positive reviews on Google reviews and found that the company employees are actually making them. Have a look at those written by Santis B and Laurence C. N.B. I crossed reference names with Facebook and LinkedIn. They are using their actual names... Amateur hour.”
“BEWARE: Easirent is a fraudulent company
BEWARE: This company is a rip-off. They do not respect the prepaid vouchers. I had to pay again for what was already prepaid through the intermediary (e.g. one-way drop off, cross border fee and unlimited mileage).
Moreover, their cars are full of dents and scratches. Then they charge your credit card for them...
I'm really disgusted by their fraudulent behaviour.
SHAME ON YOU #Easirent”
“I wish I had read Easirent's reviews prior to my very cheap car hire booking, lesson learned. Apart from the portable building office and building site car park, off site from the airport, my booking had to be cancelled through no fault of my own (essentially the staff weren't using the card machine properly and they couldn't process the pre-authorisation). I was told repetedly that it was "my problem". I declined to pay an additional 200 odd to reduce the excess (and complete the booking) as this was 7 times more expensive than the car hire cost. They will not refund 20 odd, it's peanuts I know but it's the principle. They will not listen, they will not see any other side but their own, however incorrect they are. They told me I had insufficient funds, which was incorrect and they told me I had exceeded my credit limit, which was also incorrect. I was able to hire a car from a more professional company the same day using the same credit card, but Easirent still maintains the card issue was "my problem". I am still waiting for my partial refund 7 weeks later and am still disputing not getting a full refund.
Book a hire car with Easirent if:
- you would like terrible customer service;
- you want to feel like you're going to get mugged at their "depot";
- you don't mind being told repetedly "it's your problem" when you know it's their error;
- you don't mind having your booking cancelled because they can't process a pre-authorisation; and
- ...just don't waste your time and energy on these unsophisticated scammers.”
“Truly awful customer service. AVOID - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Our booked car was given away and we were held hostage and they demanded we pay double for a bigger car (which also had a slow puncture) we didn't need then tried to charge 3 days rent to cancel the hire - when they couldn't fulfil their obligations. They have a 2 hour limit to hold the car after which they have you over a barrel (we phoned twice to let them know our flight time which was acknowledged without question). Disgusting cow boys preying on people at a time when they know they have no other option.”
“BEWARE - please read before booking
I booked a vehicle through this company and they hired my car out and tried to extract more money from me because I was delayed.
I have been in touch with trading standards - there are 100s of reviews of a similar nature - trading standards need someone to raise it as a complaint. My booking is through a different company so I cannot proceed with a complaint against easirent but over 3 weeks later I am still trying to get a refund.
I contacted easirent twice to advise about the delay and was told no problem!”
“I hired a people carrier through Ryanair from Belfast International Airport on 30th May 2019 with Ryanair Supplier Easirent
Easirent did not have the Vauxhall Sharon I paid Ryanair £220.93 for and no other vehicle to carry 6 passengers. We asked for 2 smaller vehicles but were told nothing was available due to the bank holiday in Ireland.
After asking at all the car hire desks we then had to hire 2 of the smallest vehicles available at the airport from Budget Hire at a cost of £184.46 and £184.42 total £368.88.
It occurred on: 30/05/2019 and copy of receipts supplied to Ryanair
This meant that I have therefore payed £368.88 on top of the contract payment of £220.93 due to no fault on my side and expect this payment returned, not to mention the stress and inconvenience caused.
It is now nearly 3 months and countless e-mails later with no sign of a refund.”

“This company totally fleeced me! They took £109 for the car hire plus £43.60 for insurance. When I arrive to collect the car the price had jumped a further £180 for the hire to £289. I also paid an additional £43.60 for insurance (that they would also not refund). I cancelled the agreement as it was too expensive and no refund was given whatsoever. They just refer to terms and conditions and the box I ticked that disclaimed them form everything. They would not even refund a little as gratuity gesture. When you want to complain you have to phone a number in Castillion in Spain and it takes forever to speak to an agent that wasn't interested in helping at all. I got fleeced by this company to the tune of £152.60 and they didn't give a damn!”
“AVOID! SCAMMERS, CROOKS, AND CRIMINALS!
Never in my life have I had a car hire experience as bad as this. These people are cowboys and will screw you over. It is not worth the saved money as you'll end up paying way more. I have reported them to the authorities and also filed a claim in the courts to recuperate stolen money. These people should be ashamed to work at a company like this and Easirent should be shutdown.”
“Absolutely appalling customer service when I recently used this company.
We booked a VW campervan for 10 days, which was fairly expensive, especially taking into account extra payments for reduced excess etc (which we thankfully paid up front).
The initial handover was reasonable, going through how things work etc. The agent demonstrating the roof managed to buckle it on the left when putting it down, catching the material in the frame, and completely left this off the paperwork. When the roof was put up on the first night we noticed see through tape over holes in the material on either side, which also were not pointed out initially.
Unfortunately on day 2 we awoke to find a flat rear tyre. This was after motorway and A road driving, not going over significant potholes, speed bumps or similar road furniture. We looked at the spare which was also flat. We acknowledge that the rear flat happened when we were driving the vehicle, we were told by a tyre shop there was a crack in the alloy (but there was no way to tell the defect in the alloy wasn’t already there when we set off as it was inside the rim) but the flat spare clearly didn’t. We were also told by two tyre shops (to confirm the report from the first) that the tyres should be ‘commercial’ tyres with higher ply to accommodate the additional weight of the vehicle. Two tyres were apparently standard car tyres. When phoning Easirent there was no apology or suggestion, they simply stated we weren’t covered for punctures. They informed us it didn’t need commercial tyres against the advice of the tyre shop. Fair enough, I’m not an expert and simply following advice, but all that doesn’t excuse the lack of a usable spare tyre. Thankfully we used our AA cover to get back on the road.
On the second day we noted water had entered the upper sleeping compartment, after a night of light rain. The pop top was up correctly. After the third night, with heavier rain (but no worse than I’ve had in tents over the years and remained dry) the left side of the upper sleeping compartment was soaked, with water leaking into the kitchen cupboard. When we took the van back to Easirent it was raining, so the company put the roof up, with the vehicle parked next to the building, left it for a short period then phoned us stating there was no problem.
On the 5 day of the holiday, a tyre warning light came on on the right rear side so we decided not to venture further in a vehicle we had little faith in and returned home early. After combined 35+ years of driving my wife and I haven’t had such issues with a vehicle.
We returned the van to Easirent to be told all the issues had happened when we had the vehicle, and nothing to do with them. They offered no apology, not even for the lack of a usable spare tyre and clearly leaking roof/canvas. We were told we should of checked these things before accepting the vehicle (I’ll ensure to climb under vehicles in the future to check spare tyre pressures). As mentioned above the pop top was left up for a short period to conclude there is ‘no problem’.
We were charged additional money to cover the excess for the alloy wheel making the whole experience not just poor but also extremely expensive.
I only hope that even though they have not acknowledged any of the issues Easirent privately look into some of the failings of this vehicle and service before they rent this vehicle out to other consumers. We will not be using this company again.”
“Shower of scammers. The price you see online is just to reel you in to make initial deposit. When you go to pick up car you end up being told you need to pay a huge credit card deposit (£1200 in my case) for a Ford Focus for two days. Plus a fuel deposit (£95). I asked for a refund of the £70 i’d already paid and was told no as I have to cancel 30 mins before the rental was due to begin. AVOID this (so called) company like the plague and go to a reputable car hire company like Enterprise or Europcar. I’m £70 out of pocket but after hearing and reading of all the other reviews of this place then it was a small price to pay as they charge you for scratches and all kinds on return of car that were already there (but not logged) and as they have your deposit they just take it. AVOID AVOID AVOID”
“We booked a car in Glasgow.
Watch out all tires-allow wheels- SCAM!!!!!!!!
They charged us 100£ per tyre plus 75 admin fee for presumably a scratching them. We got the car dirty as it’s in a field and there was heavy rain so tyres were not totally clean to be inspected. It seems 2 invisible Marks were there and we paid the BILL. Totally rude staff on top! We are doing a formal claim”
“AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Easirent Belfast office are crooks and scammers. They invented fictitious damage to steal my security deposit and threatened me physically. The savings from this “low cost” provider are not worth it. Read the other reviews - this company is criminal.p”
“DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY! I have now been waiting nearly 3 weeks for a refund of £1500, customer services are rude and unhelpful. The refund process is a joke & affects your credit rating.”
“I'm having trouble finding words to describe these cowboys. We booked a car from them through holidaycars.com(another cowboy company) about 3 weeks before our trip. Because the deposit was in the extortionate amount of over £1800 and needed to be paid via a credit card, i decided to put it in my partner's name about a week before the trip. Got an email back saying they won't be able to change the name, no explanation given. We arrived at easihire's depot in birmingham on the day we needed the car where the guy at the reception was not helpful at all and he didn't seemed to bothered either. We tried to pay the deposit with my partner's card, we were both present. Easirent wouldn't accept it because my name was not on the card. So what difference does it make who pays the deposit as long as its paid and the person paying it is present? We were given the option to pay an extra £180, which was more than the price of the car rental or lose the money. We decided not to pay them an extra penny and raise a dispute through the bank as we though we've been scammed.
Nowhere on the booking does it say you have to show 2 forms of proof of address, luckily all our bills come via email so we were able to produce them but if you dont have that, you're screwed, you will have no choice but to lose the money or pay them extra as cancellation refunds are not issued unless you cancel before 48 hrs of your car collection. When we read their bad reviews we were worried we might fall for their scam but the low price determined us to take the chance. Little did we know how sorry we were going to be for choosing these con artists.
Stay away from easirent and holidaycars.com. the price you see online is not what you will be paying, read all their reviews.”
