Stormy weather in Glasgow today, walked through town with a puncture on my way home to the South of the City. Enter shop, friendly staff inform me I might need to wait an hour to change the inner tube, manager is heard from the repair room, says to come back tomorrow. All of 5 repair staff too busy, the generosity is beyond belief, quite clear the 2minute job isn't £££ worth his while. Avoid this place is now in my vocabulary. Took train home being a Sunday, probably will be without bicycle till Saturday. Thanks Evans!

Just been to the branch at canary wharf to order my brompton bike. Was told at spitalsfield store a few months ago to build the bike on the brompton website, save it and the website would generate a build number, which I'd need to quote at an Evans store and they'll order it in for me. However the assistant at the Canary Wharf branch didn't want the build number, he wanted to go on the brompton website and build it using the Evans account. If they could do this all along then I would have ordered it when I was last in an Evans store months ago. This assistant quite clearly displayed his annoyance when I didn't have a print out of the build, something which was never communicated to me in the last store. Overall, my view of evans is that there's no conisistency between the store and of the assistant, well he was the architypal arrogant bike specialist with a superiority complex. No interest in customer service. Thanks Evans.

What a bundle of muppets!! Purchased a new "free Hub" online and paid by credit card, 8 days later no sign of it, called the helpline and was told that they had used a low cost courier who has agreement with them for up to 14 days delivery, Not happy to wait another 6 days I asked for the order to be cancelled and the money returned to my card, you wont believe the response, "you will have to wait and refuse delivery of the goods, after which when they are returned to the store the money will be refunded to my card" and wait for it, that process could take another 14 days, needless to say I argued profusely with the sales girl who frustratingly repeated the process three times despite me pointing out that no tracking number or delivery schedule was provieded with the despath e-mail, eventually as it hit 8pm the sales girl just "hung up" Never waited anything more than 4 days with Amazon or similar sites, Evans are a "computer says no joke" really frustrated!!!!!

Avoid any mechanical repair - your bike will come back worse - that is if they attempt the repair in the first place. Gear cable frayed within 200 miles after they adjusted because of chain dropping since new. At first service this was pointed out - it was printed on the repair receipt and .... they didn't touch it. Bike given back to me and first ride the following day, the chain drops off. These guys are not imo bike mechanics. Reminds me of yts trainees.

Ordered a bike from Evans. Paid deposit. Had to chase. Apparently their computer system is not good enough to allocate stock. So someone else got my bike and i don't get what was ordered and confirmed as ordered. unfortunately no one told me so by the time i phone to follow up, sales are over and of the Bikes i was looking before at elsewhere, have sold out. They will offer to refund my money or sell me a worse bike. They won't offer me the new model unless i pay GBP 200 more. If you ask for help and make a complaint you get a replay of choose a worse bike or take you money back. Pretty awful experience. beware an order is not actually an order at Evans. Money changing hands means nothing.

I recently visited Evans in the West End in London and was served by Julian W. I had pretty much made my mind up what I wanted but we went through the elimination process nonetheless. Julian was very keen and helpful and I bought the bike after a short test drive. I did get the feeling that he wasn’t really that bothered about serving me and that the attention I was getting was just the usual stuff. I then bought some other stuff, a helmet and a hi viz. Julian pointed out that I would get a £20 voucher if I spent over £100. The two transactions were put through separately so not qualifying for the voucher. I pointed this out and he just wouldn’t answer if I would get it or not eventually only saying that I should. He was furtive and really was avoiding the subject. i had just spent over £700 without effort or quibble and so it’s not the money it was just a cheap move by him. It’s a relationship based on trust and to be honest I just don’t feel comfortable about shopping there again. I have since bought another bike for my girlfriend with the hat and hi viz and lights etc from the shop just around the corner who were great. I would recommend them but not Evans, sadly. The vouchers didn’t turn up, as I thought. Poor choices Julian.

Do not even think about working for this company, particularly because you enjoy cycling. Make no mistake - this company IS the Sportsworld of the cycle industry and actively encourages its managers to exploit and hurt you in any way they can. It even incites other staff to do this as well. It has such a low opinion of its staff it even struggles to pay the minimum wage to them. I've never worked for a company that has such an inherently nasty culture - avoid!, avoid!, avoid!

Evans delivered a faulty item, rang them & they said send back & send proof of postage cost - returned it special delivery and they signed for it so I know they got it. 7 days later I got an automatic email saying I had filled in the returns form but they had yet to receive the item. Liars!! So now I have no item, am £200 out of pocket and another £8 postage and they are refusing to admit they have lost it!!

REALLY AWFUL PLACE TO WORK! They are the worst place I have ever worked - full stop. Minimum wage, poor training.. If you love cycling go and work for your LBS, give this Sportsworld of the cycle industry a very wide berth as they get off on really hating their staff! :-(

Tried to buy a tyre today but the guy on the till ignored me because he was on the phone to a customer. Continued to ignore me for further 3 to 4 minutes. No acknowledgement of my presence, no attempt to find another assistant to help me. Rude and unwise behaviour. I just walked out without buying anything and shop lost a £45 sale. I generally find Evan staff very helpful but I shan't shop in that branch again

The Wandsworth branch in London is a must avoid. Long story short, they told me they could repair my broken chain and provide a gear service for £45. I was informed I could collect next day by 5pm. Arrived at 5pm - bike was not fixed, no one called me, I tried calling them twice with no answer prior to arriving and now the cost of repair was suddenly £155 and it would take at least 3 days to fix. 15mins later and attempts to resolve the issue with the store manager - I was given my bike back and told to get out the shop. Raised this issue with their customer service team, who tired to tell me it was my fault. I did mange to get my bike fixed for the cost of only £35 and half a day's work, proves it all really. Fair to say I will never use Evans Cycles again.

Bought a lock from them and it was received with no keys. They did send a replacement however. Also bought two Knog lights in 8/2015, but the recommended recharge date said 10/2014! They barely hold a charge and Evans wants me to pay JPY 1200 to return the lights to them to inspect. Seems like fraud to sell expired products.

very disappointed, the shop staff are clueless and the customer services are an abomination. No clue what they are doing, customer services isnt in their forefront at all. Shame as they could possibly be a good company if they trained their staff!

I work in one of the shops and it's a destroyer of a love of cycling, believe me! I'm horrified how nastily it treats its employees - even those who work on the front line. I love talking bikes all day, would love to work for a company that truly supports its local cycling community but am prevented from doing so by this shambolic company - a company that treats us like something smelly it's trodden in! Despite that, you'll get the best service we can muster as we care helluva lot more about our cycling community than this abysmal company does about us! :-(

Another unhappy customer. Returned a light to the shop due to an intermittent fault (ie it would not switch on!). Was told it would have to go back to the manufacturer for testing and may take 4-6 weeks. Went in 3 times to be told its still not back but be patient. We will let you know when we receive it. Today, after 4 months waiting, i get told it never actually went to the manufacturer and it works fine so warranty claim cancelled! WTF! Last time i shop there!

Booked bike in for service, took bike the night beforehand and called Evans at chilfactor to see when the bike would be ready. Called twice more told me they are busy and would get call to say when done. Now it's four days later still no call went to store still not done no apology nothing !! Totally uninterested staff.

Ordered a Bianchi and paid deposit only to be contacted a week later to be told the bike had been sold and it was the last one. Rubbish excuses offered and crap customer service. No resolution offered just o sorry bad luck you can always pay more money for a bike. Rude condescending patronising staff at Norwich. Never again.

Really really bad service! No staff, they all seem to be in the back. Never answer the phone. When I did get hold of them they said my bike would be ready the next morning, when I got to the shop they said it was nearly ready just needed about 20 mins. 1 hour later still no bike. While waiting in the shop people came and went without even seeing a member of staff. People asking me if I worked in the shop. Appalling ! Still need other items for my bike but will not be getting them from Evans cycles that's for sure!!
