excellent service above and beyond my expectations. due to an oversight when changing to a personal plate my son was not insured. A customer service advisor was able to help us with the issues outside normal working hours to enable my son to return to his place of work following a weekend leave. Many thanks

I cannot fault Admiral. I had an accident and within an hour they had arranged to have the car picked up and taken to Just Car Clinic. One week later my car was delivered back to me.

Absolute Cowboys. OK in year 1 because they low ball to get you in. But beware Year 2: they'll ramp it up. So, look at their first renewal and if it has been ramped up, phone them in plenty of time before the renewal date, and they'll offer you a reduction 'because of changes in the rates' about which they won't tell you otherwise. Don't leave it at that: having got their reductions, go to Direct Line and get them to quote based on the numbers you've got and from whom. I've just saved £700 on 4 cars that way. Customer loyalty has no part in their vocabulary. I've no doubt that I'll play the same game with Direct Line in a year or two and go back to Admiral or another similar automatic renewal insurer. This process gives car insurers a bad name, but they deserve it.

I had protected bonus and made sure I always have it with my 15 years no claims. To be competitive on my renewal without telling me they removed it. I had a crash in my wife's car (dual policy) and my wife lost her no claims.. which was unfair as she's never had a crash. I failed to see they removed it on my renewal. For me they should never have removed it without my consent. Awful by a big company.

Admiral wrote to me a week into the policy claiming I had an endorsement on my license, which I do not. To top it off, they told me they would be taking £190 from my account. The customer service department expected me to prove them wrong, which I did but it took a lot of wasted time. Terrible service - avoid.

My partner and myself were both insured on the same car with admiral and 2 months into our policy they rung and demanded the full premium or the policy would be cancelled. They said the payment (due on that day) was declined, which turned out to be a bank error and we proved that but they still want the full premium paid. Safe to say we are looking elsewhere even if we have to pay more.. I rung up and the guy barely spoke english and kept repeating himself and told me that if i don't pay the full premium by May 12th then they will cancel my policy and add an extra £49.50 on top as a cancellation fee. It's safe to say that admiral will be receiving absolutely nothing from me. Not a penny. If you are reading this then shop elsewhere.. Admiral are thieves!

Contacted Admiral to add vehicle to Multicar policy. Was quoted £125 . Bought car 3 days later and rang back to commence cover and was quoted £260. They said initial quote was an error. I appealed and was told that they would honour original quote only to be called back 1 hour later to be told they would be charging £210. Argued again and at time of writing, they are doing it for £125. If I had not been so tenacious, they would have charged more than twice what they finally agreed. Not much confidence in them.

Multi-car policies don't always offer the best value. In fact, sometimes they can actually be the most expensive option. Our family Admiral multi-car policy covers my wife's and my own car. Our son was also on the policy with his own car that he sold earlier this year. He has now bought another car and so I telephoned Admiral to add him back onto our policy. I was quoted £858 to include him up until the renewal date in October - basically £858 for 6 months' remaining cover. My son decided to run a comparison site check whilst I was calling them. He discovered that the same company quoted him £750 for a brand new policy of his own! Thankfully he let me know before I accepted the telephone quote. So beware! Always check the market before adding a car to a multi-car policy. And after this experience we'll also be checking the market for separate quotes before automatically renewing our multi-car policy.
