We have been with L&G for over 6 years, and each year the Home and Contents insurance policy premium went up by quite a lot, but every time I rang them up, they agreed to bring it down a little, so we stayed with them. However this year, I think taking advantage of the Covid crisis, they have been extremely hard to get hold of (spoke to 5 reps in total, overall waiting time of 2.5 hours), and when I eventually did, got told they couldn't negotiate at all on the renewal price (which this year went up by a whopping 20% - ridiculous). I have since gone with a quote from elsewhere, but when I go on their 'Smart Service' which each advisor told me was very straightforward and easy to use, it refuses to let me in to cancel. S case of Computer says no. So frustrating. Will be glad to see the back of them frankly.

Hold an existing house policy. Phoned to talk about renewal and told 'we're too busy. We'll phone you back within 5 days'. 6 days no call. Instead I have found an alternative insurer with better cover and 20% cheaper and moved insurer!

Avoid this company. I have held two insurance policies with this company and each time they have “walked up” the costs. Avoid!

Just renewed online my house & contents insurance. No problems in past, but the latest website is a nightmare to navigate. After 20 minutes I gave up. Despite warnings that there could be long delays in responding to my call, it was answered within a minute and the agent was very helpful.

I insured my pet with Buddies over 2 weeks ago and received no documents. They have now told me that they have no record of me or my policy. They were quick enough to take my money however. I have emailed numerous times and spoken to I dont know how many people who just pass me from person to person with no resolution. I have asked for a refund but as predicted that email is being ignored too. Meanwhile I have an uninsured pet. Avoid at all costs!

Trying to take out home insurance policy been on phone for 1 1/2 hours been hung up on twice ...all i want to do is pay for it

Have my two pets insured with them on life policies . They have just renewed the policies with over £200 increase ???? They think they have you trapped & basically are just a profitable loan company !!!

Illegally took money and didnt provide policy! Avoid at all costs Went to take home insurance out, they had a "technical error" on their web page and it didnt process. Next day they took the money out. Somehow they had details to take the payments out but none of my personal details to locate a policy. Avoid at all costs - dodgy company and I have formally reported them to FOS, FCA and ICO regarding their behaviour in this matter

Web site frequently down, system throws you out as soon as you log in. Different 'log in journey' with different screens leaves visitors unsure which pages are real, or potential scams. One of the worst financial platforms I use. Certainly the most unreliable and most frustrating.

I got in the pension scheme from my company without knowing this... When I wanted to opt out from the pension and get all my money back I’ve found that till the age of 55 I can’t do nothing. Proper scam company!!!

Refusing to carry out a valuation on my property for my mortgage even after Boris confirmed that these services could re-commence. Horrendous cronyism allowing the state-owned RBS banks to avoid lending to people when they need it most.

I would give Legal and Genarel no star at all . My home insurance policy comes with Home Emergence service which means if I don’t have hot water in my house they should repair my hot water system. They refused to do so stating it’s part of my responsibility to maintain. My hot water system is basically a water tank which is heated by emerssion electric heater or element and nothing to be maintained . After dispute over the phone they eventually send a plumber who said the heating element is croded and it is not covered in the policy. This isn’t the first time I tried to make a claim . In February 2017 I made a claim for storm damage to my property, a tree knocked part of my boundary wall which is part of the building. They refused to honour my claim so I made a claim through court and received part of the claim. This company is not easy when it comes to make a legitimate claim that you are entitled to . Now I have decided I had enough so cancelled my policy with them and would not recommend them to anyone.

They are rude, pushy and just nasty. Do not use. My partner and I started an application to apply for joint decreasing cover and critical illness cover for us both. We had to sit through an hour long phone call because they said it would be quicker and once we had done that we wouldn't need to fill in an more questionnaires. Then received an email saying that before they could even start an application I would have to have a full medical. (Obviously with COVOID-19 I was not agreeing with this) We needed our cover so we could finish buying our first house with our mortgage. They then said that they wouldn't start any cover until I had this so we decided to try another company and just get the joint decreasing. I emailed them to cancel and then the next morning I get a phone call, from them trying to sell me extra cover, after listening to the woman talk for five minutes I interrupted and that I've already messaged to cancel. She said that she cant do that and she would get someone else to phone me. Half an hour later a guy phoned me asking why I wanted to cancel, after I explained he just kept arguing with me. I told him I want to cancel the applications. And he wouldn't he kept arguing and trying to push me into their cover. Told me that they are a much more reputable company then any I have looked at and I wouldn't find more cover. That no-one would cover me quicker and yet they wouldn't do it when I wanted either. So it was useless for me. Eventually I told him no cancel it, and all I could hear was him huffing and puffing on his side. It was disgusting to be talked to like Im an idiot. Do not give them your money!!

The length of time you have to wait for a claim to be settled is appalling. I have 3 claims outstanding and despite sending several copies of the paperwork they are still saying they have not received them. I have written several letters of complaint and their responses fail to address the issue on each occasion. Also offered cheque as compensation but length of travel to a bank - in access of 40 miles makes it an empty gesture. Absolutely dreadful customer service.Now saying claims will be settled in 4-6 weeks due to the current crisis but problems flagged to them long before this occurred.I have contacted the Ombudsman.

Dealing with a claim with Legal and General is a pain! I have been waiting for nearly 3 months and they are asking me for my dog’s full medical record! They should ask my vet directly but not me! I am going to switch to another insurance company despite all the previous existing health conditions policy. Keeping an insurance policy which you cannot make a claim is useless anyway!
