Do not use this car rental agency. They gave us a smaller car than we had reserved which created problems on our journey. They charged me twice for a deposit. I made a £50 deposit when picking up the car. When I returned it with less than a full tank I told them to take the fuel balance out of the deposit. The gas charge was £41. They charged me another £50 and insisted that balance of £9 was a "service charge". I pushed hard to correct this situation, but gave up due to pressure to make the plane departure. Believe this and other negative reviews! Save yourself heartache and money!!!

This rental company is rogues, behavior that shame their name, charged us for a scratch that we did not check, but after returning to their land they issued a report that we had drawn the wheel by 8 cm and it costs 250 euros. Nasty behavior do not approach them

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are refusing to return our $3000 deposit until we pay an additional $800! We had to return our rental to Heathrow Green Motion at the last minute, when we inquired, he called "a guy" - we couldn't speak to him though. We were assured that we could leave the car and it would be just "a few dollars a mile" to have them return the car the 40 miles to the Stanstead Green Motion. Ok, we should have gotten it in writing. They are now charging us $800 for abandonment! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Date: 11/21/23

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IT IS A SCAM! They lure you in with a great price but ask for over £1000 deposit for a 2 day rental and if you don't want to pay that they will charge you an extra £25 on top of your agreed price to lower the deposit amount. They will look for anyway they can to penalise and squeeze more money out of you including charge and obscene amount for every mile over the 100 mile a day limit. To cap it all the staff are incredible rude, unprofessional and have little regard for customer service, doing little more than compounding the micky mouse operation this is. This was meant to be and advertised as a cheap rental that ended up costing me 4x times more than it should...DO NOT USE! Date of experience: 30 November 2023

I booked flights and car hire through a travel firm as a package - the car hire being with Greenmotion. I was concerned over the arrival of my flight and not being at the rental desk in time before their closure at Manchester Airport so I rang Greenmotion, twice, the day before my arrival but could not get past the recorded messages to speak to anybody, with no option to hold. I then emailed them but got no response. Having done the pre-check in with them so they had all my contact details, I stupidly assumed that they would contact me if there was a problem. Needless to say, the rental desk was shut by the time I got to them so I was left stranded at the airport without a car rental for the duration of my trip. I have since tried to get a refund from Greenmotion but they refused via the travel company, stating the Terms and Conditions of needing to contact them if a late arrival (!). I also emailed them directly but have never received a response so they need to take a long look at their customer service and communication as in this day and age, there is no excuse. I would advise you to look elsewhere.

Do not use this company - they are so bad. 1) It states London City Airport - but they are actually not at the airport, so even if they look a couple of pounds cheaper - it will take you 25 mins and public transport costs to get there. Just go with one of the suppliers at the actual airport. 2) Unfortunately I returned a rental car with a scuff on one of the alloys. I dont remember causing the damage, but I cant prove otherwise. Upon my return - I was informed that I would be charged £35 for a "damage service fee" and £175 for the repair. So a total fee of £205. I got a quote from a BVRLA approved company and it was £85. 3) I asked about their complaints process and how I could follow up and it took me 4 emails and over 2 weeks to get there. I was also given the wrong email by the service desk. 4) I have raised a complaint with the BVRLA about this company 5) The main issue is Green Motion are charging £35 admin fee and £175 for the damage. They state that "the appropriate charge needs to be made”. They however cant confirm who will be doing the work - I provided a quote for from a wheel repair specialists, who have quoted £85. this is a company accredited by the BVRLA. 6) In an email they highlighted that the “charge made does reflect an element of administration and off the road cost”, and that they “will not be requesting the manufacturer to organise or share details of the body shop which will undertake the repair at the vehicles end of life”. So they wont actually be taking the vehicle of the road. - On top of this - there is a “damage service fee” of £35. - So to confirm - Green motion are charging (a) and administration fee and (b) a damage service fee and (c) and off the road cost fee. This looks very much like you are charging 2 admin fees and a fee for it being off the road, however their email confirms that this vehicle is not being taken off the road, but they are charging for this......

Avoid this company if you wish to avoid being potentially charged hundreds of pounds for fraudulent claims of damage. We were charged for a mark that was almost imperceptible and was there when we picked up the vehicle from Edinburgh airport. We collected it in the rain and the 'mark' on the boot was invisible. Upon drop off the Edinburgh agent went straight for the 'mark' , yet even when he pointed it out it was still almost impossible to see. The whole thing was beyond absurd. We were then charged £700. Thankfully we had third party insurance to cover this claim but we were furious with such unscrupulous behaviour. Ultimately we all pay for this. Avoid green motion at all costs. You have been warned.

Not a good experience. 1) Were given a car in lower price category, than the car that was booked, car wasn't similar in any way. 2) When picking up the car, some damages were ignored, even after pointing them out, they said it doesn’t count. 3) Giving the car back, they already knew where to look for the damage, pointed it out instantly, even though the scratch was literally under the bumber and not really visible, charged 300EUR for it. 4) Even with full insurance, they charged 300EUR for a scratch, that we didn’t make and said we can get the money back through the carjet, making it a lot of time waste… Usually when you’re paying for full insurance, companies have no questions asked policy, and don't even look at the car. Terrible experience, don’t ever book from this company.

Your car rental company has scammed me! I paid for a car for 17 days and on arrival, they wouldn't give me a car or a refund. Left me stranded on my own, with a lot of luggage at night, after 35hrs of travelling from Australia! No reply to my emails or calls, since the first call from the office. I was yelled at by customer service and told I wouldn't get a refund, as my policy had started already. I explained that it actually hadn't started as one of my flights was cancelled and was a few hours late to collect the car. I was in the office trying to start my policy and obtain the car I'd paid for. I said that the guys in the office could verify this. She wouldn't listen to any reasoning and was extremely rude! I booked via Cariet and purchased insurance along with the car hire. On arrival to Green Motion, I was told I had to buy their insurance at £400 extra, as the insurance that their booking company had purchased wasn't enough! This will be all over Twitter. I'm not going to give up trying to get my money back and letting others know what a con Green Motion Car Rentals are!!!

Green Motion is the worst car rental company I have ever seen. I do not think that the people they employ are to blame. Employees working under the instruction of company managers take all kinds of exaggerated, unreasonable and unfair money from their customers. The deposits taken from the customer while renting the car, the pressure to make insurance at very high prices, and the exorbitant prices applied if there is a scratch on the car when you deliver the car, so they do not give you back the deposit they took from you. This company is where commercial immorality is practiced. This company is a trap, so it is necessary to stay away from this company.

Scam company and will ask you to pay many time the amount of the original booking, because some small letter clause in the terms of service, or magically will find the chip in the windshield - no mater what you will pay much more then you expected.

While being central london their cars are not registered for congestion charge and they don’t tell you. So they receive a fine of 90£ and charge 68£ additional, pure scam ! In addition they tried to charge me for damages that were present when I took the car. Bad and unreliable company, stay away !

Beware!! Green Motion will charge you a L68 admin fee for every traffic violation. Processing probably takes them two minutes. But maybe this is what they are doing instead of waiting on customers. I had to wait a long time. In Bristol, following GPS and traffic will lead you into Bus Lane violations, with no way to escape except by turning around or driving on the wrong side of the street. I was not even aware I was in a Bus Lane until two months later when I got the L68 fee from Green Motion and the L35 fine from the unfriendly city of Bristol. So far, I have received two violations. I hope I do not get more.

This company is the most despicable bunch of crooks that I have ever come across. Their business model is set a low price to get the customers in then find any way to rip them off that they can find. We hired a car from them at Manchester in June for four days. We had taken out full insurance with the company who brokered the sale. On arrival we were told that this insurance was junk. If we didn’t take their insurance and cancel what we had then we would be charged the whole of the excess irrespective of the actual damage. They also required us to leave a charge on our credit card of 2500pound as a deposit against any damage. The car we were hired was a well-used car that had a lot of damage marks on it. We brought this to their attention and took video but they just shrugged it off as ‘we know about that.’ We returned the car as agreed and nothing was said about any problem. After about three weeks the 2500pound charge on our card was lifted. The end of the matter we thought. Five weeks after that we received and email which was an email for a total of 600 pounds which was supposedly for damage to the car as well as for two items we had paid for at the time of hiring. There was no information about what the so-called damage was or who repaired it or invoices or receipts from the repairer. I wrote to them telling them that this wasn’t on, after 8 weeks with no contact they expected me to believe they had only just discovered the damage. The response was to access my credit card and debit 500Pounds. I have just had the money returned to me by my bank after I made a charge back against these thieves and set out how the rip off worked. Unfortunately, I didn’t look at the reviews for this bunch of crooks or looked for media coverage of the dodgy charlatans. Do your self a favour and avoid these people like the plaque.

For Green Motion Stansted. Unfortunately, I have to leave bad feedback. I'm traveling a lot all over the world and especially in the UK, I used to rent from Green motion (Bristol airport) for many years, but this time (in my 15 years experience) I was charged an unacceptable high price which left me and my family very disappointed with your rental agency - Green motios Stansted. My car rent price (mini car) was 93,26 £ and for the scrace on the tyre I paid 180 £ (picture added)! The scrace was more cosmetic, but not the damaging one. I'm so disappointed and it was my first and the last time I have rented from there. You may say that I haven't had insurance, but then you should not declare your rental center as a low price rental and on arrival you are putting people in such a distressing situation for asking to pay double (+insurance) for car rental price. Sorry, but this situacion left my family so disappointed.... AVOID Green Motion Stansted!

Dangerous for the safety of your family and even with the premium insurance they do not refund you. In August, one day after the start of our rental with premium insurance, we had a flat tire. We called the breakdown service at 17:05 but they arrived at 21h00. The mechanic service was not able to repair and we had to called a taxi to go back at the hotel. at 22h00. During the night, the car was hauled to the mechanic and we had to take a taxi to get there and paid the mechanic ourself to change the tire. I would like to stress they left us stranded during 5 hours with two kids of 7 years in the middle of nowhere. We called them several times and left several messages on the voice mail explaining that we were in a difficult position with 2 kids, no food and no water but they never answered or returned our calls while it was your legal responsibility to take care of us. 3 months later and despite several emails and calls, we still did not receive any refund from them nor any answer except automatic messages.

I'm utterly disappointed with my recent experience with Green Motion Car Rental during my trip to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Let me provide you with the specifics: Booking Details: Reservation Reference: WOS-4070404-4049052 Original Pick-up Date: August 29, 2023 Revised Pick-up Date: August 30, 2023 Booking Duration: August 30, 2023, to September 1, 2023 On July 16, 2023, I proactively contacted Green Motion to adjust my pick-up date to August 30th due to an unexpected flight change by Wizz Air, over which I had no control. The Green Motion team acknowledged this change and confirmed the amendment. However, here's where things took a drastic turn for the worse. On August 30, 2023, despite the prior confirmation of the revised pick-up date, I found myself stranded at Abu Dhabi Airport, alongside my wife, for a significant duration. We were left waiting for a rental car that simply did not arrive. This situation was not just inconvenient; it was deeply distressing, especially considering it happened during our honeymoon. To make matters worse, we had no choice but to take a taxi from the airport to our destination, incurring a substantial expense of 500 AED. This added financial burden only amplified our frustration and disappointment. What baffles me is the apparent lack of communication within Green Motion, as the confirmed booking change did not seem to reach the Abu Dhabi team. We were left in the lurch, despite being reassured that our rental would be available. In addition to the inconvenience and the considerable financial impact, I'm dismayed by the lack of compensation or any concrete steps taken to address this situation. My trust in Green Motion, a brand I had relied on for car rentals, has been significantly eroded. Had a good laugh they sent me a customer satisfaction survey. Long story short, I was conned like everyone else. I rent cars frequently often and know the drill, so I would think reading the "important information" from the rental voucher provided by Booking.com is enough, and I don't need to read full T&Cs. Wrong. I booked the car on Booking and paid with Amex, then brought my license and a "credit card at my name" to the store near (well, not really) Liverpool Airport. As with many other people here, I was told they cannot accept neither my Amex nor my virtual Barclaycard under their T&Cs. They lied that Amex is not a credit card, but a charge card (which is true only for business, but irrelevant in any case). They were nevertheless happy to take my Amex or ApplePay when I switched to another tariff of £250. The salespeople have all answers prepared for your questions. So it is clearly not a situation of "sorry, there is missing information on the Rental Voucher, let's find a solution". It is a con. The booking was also not cancellable, so I was trapped and set to lose money in any case. If I had a physical Visa or Mastercard on me, nothing would have happened (though judging by other reviews, it seems GreenMotion would have found a way to charge me extra for insurance or damage). Booking.com also referred me to full T&Cs, as if it was not them to issue a misleading Rental Voucher in the first place. So no more using Booking as a broker for me either. The rental price was not so substantially lower for me to suspect an issue from the beginning, but from now on I will be more careful. Never book here and if you have, please, make sure to complain here, on Google and to the aggregator where you booked. Hopefully, this company will not be recommended.
