“Scammers, stay away at all cost from this company.!!! CHARGING RIDICULOUS PRICES FOR FICTIONAL DAMAGES.
First of all at the pick up they mixed up my bookings and didn't have the car I signed the paper work for. So had to go through it all over again. Finally I got a different car with badly damaged passenger door and scuffs in several places.
After the drop off they took advantage of me dropping the car off in the early morning. As the representative was absent so I had to leave the car and dropp the keys in the box.
Very efficiently a few hours later they sent me an email saying that I allegadly damaged the car. Sent some photos of the allaged damage. One of them was supposed to be on the windshield. It was 1 millimetre in diameter and didn't look like a damage but a tiny spec of dust or a drop of paint.
Second a blured picture of the skirt under the front bumper which had been already damaged on the pick up. It was a minor scruff non visable from the standing position as it was under the car. Both of them can be easily overlooked at the pick up inspection.
However, non of the pictures shown the alleged damage and the actual car registration number.
The actual letter stated "you have been charged for the damage: front bumper skirt 168.33EUR, windshield 123.80EUR plus 73.80 EUR administration fee" ? They still are holding my 600 EUR of deposit and on the top charged me an equivalent of £ 323.
All made up ridiculous charges for
made up damage.
I will never ever use them again.
Bunch of lying scammers!!!
Unfortunately I read other reviews too late.
Many other customers from all over the place had very similar experiences.
I am surprised, how this fraudulent company is still able to trade???
You have been warned stay away!!!”
“AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THERE LOWER PRICES. STAFF ARE INCENTIVISED TO CHARGE CUSTOMERS HUNDREDS FOR PHANTOM DAMAGE. IN PARTICULAR AVOID HEATHROW - I WAS TOLD BY ANE EX-EMPLOYEE, STAFF HAVE A WEEKLY CONTEST TO SEE WHO CAN LOG THE MOST AMOUNT OF FEES FROM NON-EXISTENT DAMAGE. THEY ALSO KNOW OF DAMAGE TO CARS WHICH ARE NOT RECORDED ON THE DISPATCH SHEET AND ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO VIEW FROM A GENERAL INSPECTION.”
“I hired the car for less than 18 hours. They accused me of a small dent (size 3 times less than a 5p coin). This was an existing dent and impossible to be caused by me as i drove on one journey. The staff refused to refund me. AVOID! Avoid!”
“I arrived at Krakow in the evening, and after much searching found the hut from which Green Motion operate in a dump of a car park. I had to wait while an argument was proceeding with a previous customer, and was eventually processed. Two of their operatives were adamant that the insurance inc top up from Zest was not valid, and insisted that I take their insurance. They showed me a huge list of thigs they could charge me for otherwise, such as 297 – 1,909 euros per stonechip depending on which body panel was affected, and wouldn’t let me see the car before signing. At that point I should have walked away but it was late, I was late, I’d already paid Zest online and had nobody to turn to so just paid up. The staff then told me it didn’t matter where I went or what condition the car was returned in, they literally said ”it doesn’t matter if the bumpers are hanging off we won’t check the car”. I was then shown to a battered Toyota Avensis with 75,000km on the clock, scratches and dents on every panel, broken o/s/r lamp and parts missing from the roof. I checked it over, started it and saw the tyre warning lamp would not go out, I raised it with the staff and was told it was the only automatic estate there, take it or leave it. I nervously completed the two day journey, an emissions warning lamp and engine power loss was also an intermittent problem, and now that I’m back they have charged me an additional 500 euros for crossing into Slovakia despite telling me this was covered on my additional insurance payment to them. Without doubt the worst car hire experience I have ever had, I feel like I have been blackmailed and robbed.”
“Truly the absolute worst business I have ever dealt with. The online booking appears very cheap and too good to be true with a A$7.95 per day all inclusive price. When you pick up the car, they tell you your booked car is not available and you get a "upgrade" but for another A$10 per day on top of insurance A$150 it became something I never signed for but have no choice due to time constraints etc. If you have problems, their customer service hotline is just a computer recording. I ended up hanging around Healthrow airport all night to catch my 8am flight next morning to Barcelona just to make sure I returned the car before their 7pm office hour close to avoid any mishap returning outside their hours coz of a €200 credit card security deposit which has yet to be refunded after 1 week! Never again will I use anything outside of established brands!”
“LONDON HEATHROW. London Heathrow Branch. AVOID, AVOID AND AVOID.
Yes they probably are the cheapest but will sting you when you return the car with fake allegations of car damage. I have been hiring cars for over 15 years and this was the first time using Green Motion. Pickup was great but a nightmare on returning the car. Green motion claimed dent to the boot door which neither me or 5 others customers could view. Employee then stated the dent can only be seen when the boot is open and you stand at one specific angle....really!? In the time I was there (45 min) - there were at least 3 other customers with similar issues. One customer was accused of causing a scruff mark to a tyre which in fact was a white mark off the road. AVOID - pay the extra £20-30 and go to a reputable firm,.”
“Here I want to write about the business idea behind green motion.
It is related to green motion Warsaw modlin. I cant say more than that this company is driving profitability thanks to the scratches. Rent a car for low money and be supercharged for preexisting scratches that cost more than car rental. Avoid those scammers. Dissapear from the market.”
“Scam, please stay away from them !!! They're lots of other geniue car rental companies, so don't be mislead by low prices - believe me, they are not as low when it comes to make a final payment plus no proper customer service. When you call them, there is no one to talk to you, only misleading automated information. We had a car from them for one day , exactly 22h and the total cost was £170 incuding the penalty charges for entering their car park when our friend dropped my husband off and then collected the next day when he came to return the car. There was no machine to purchase a parking ticket, the barriers were opened on both occasions, so we assumed that as a geen motion customer we were alowed to enter the car park for a few minutes. The people in their office didn't mention anything about any parking restrictions and they were very arrogant anyway. It looks like I should have ordered a helicopter( and land on the roof) to pick up and return the car , that would be the only way to avoid the pelalty charge. I followed their pre recorded instructions "how to find us" and I ended up with a penalty charge- they must have done it on purpose to make extra money. After my awful experience with this fraud company I have seen lots of negative reviews and an article about them in The Guardian newspaper , unfortunately too late for us, but I hope that other people will be more careful.”
“At the return of the car, a very minor damage was noted on the front, slightly dented, not visible in normal light unless you bend down and let the sun shine along the dent properl. Nearly 500 pound worth of damage accoring to the agent, after they carefully checked (already at the start of the trip but also at the return) that you have insurance covered independent from their own insuration procedures. There is not much you can do than to sign.
You feel cheated, and that the same thing will happen with a next customer, Probabaly the business model to account for the low rental prices. Shame.. Rental from Edinburgh air port NCP Scotpark. Rental agent CAR TRAWLER. An advice: simply stay away from this scam.”
“Avoid this company all costs. I dealt with the Newcastle Airport Branch.
Do not be fooled by low rental prices a they will make up for this by charging you for pre-existing damage to cars of by forcing you to take out there insurance packages that are more than double the cost of the rental agreement.
To start i was given a car below the standard of what i had booked online. The collection took place in heavy rain and i was told that the car was brand new and had been inspected and there was no damage whatsoever. The assistant then prompted me to sign the vehicle inspection sheet there and then without actually looking around the car.
I inspected the car to find scratches large and small not highlighted seen by the company in their so called pre rental inspection. I was told that any scratch smaller than 25mm is disregarded but i had the larger scratches added to the vehicle inspection sheet. It was amazing that in heavy rain that i was still able to find marks on the car that they were unable to do so.
The car was only used by myself but ion return to Green Motion the assistant miraculously managed to find am Almost invisible scratch instantaneously in the passenger side door aperture. It was almost as if he new exactly where he was going to look to generate more income from myself.
This small was measured at less than 25mm. He informed me he would charge me £195 for the damage. This is against the regulations set out by the BVRLA Fair Wear and Tare Standards.
The Agent i dealt with was called Mo Ikram pictured below.
After trying to argue that i had not cause d the damage to the car and that it was not legal for them to charge me. I contacted my bank to find they had already started the process of claiming the £195
I explained to the assistant that due to this level of customer service they would lose out on any potential business from myself and in the long run lose more money than they would make by illegal charging me for pre existing damage. The assistant more or less admitted that they have to find damage to the cars and charge customers in order to make up for their low rental cost.
I am currently trying to challenge the company but i will not be holding my breath and i will never use this company ever again”
“Stay away!!!They are liars and crooks! That was last time i used this company. The car was during all rental with me , parking and using was very carefully. I returned the car without any damages!!! I ask at the desk if anybody can check the car, but staff say " No one can check the car now. "
I checked the car during rental time and at rental parking place before return key, NO ANY DAMAGES!!!!!!!!
Today 11/09/2019 staff send me a message and charged me to *SCRATCH ON THE FRONT BUMPER (180 EUR)
*Administration Fee (73,80 EUR)
That's it? and where is the evidence, though such crooks as you (company) can draw anything fake.
All reviews of YOU in the internet are negative! I really hope your company goes broke!!!
liars and crooks!”
“Stay away! Charged 2 times for my rental car, once via the pre booking process and once at the office despite the staff saying that the prepaid voucher was only to secure, will not be charged. I have noticed on my bank account that the voucher has finally been charged on top of what I have paid in the office. Confirmation agreement with invoice not mentioning the voucher payment . No one replying to the claim neither by phone nor by email. Still fighting with them to get a reply and a refund.
Debit card accepted only if you pay the full insurance cover which is therefore at least 2 times the price indicated on internet.
My Debit Card has been hacked on the website you use to secure the car according to official investigation.
Go somewhere else! Not professional, big scam, no customer support, unreachable by phone!”
“I have rented from this Company at London Gatwick many times and found that the staff pleasant and accomodating and the cars to be in very good condition and very keenly priced. In particular I must compliment Michelle and Imran for their helpful, pleasant efficient assistance during our hire in late Oct.”
“Thieves! Put 3 Additional charges on my credit card after rental period. First after a approximately 2 weeks. Second and and third, on the same day for the same amount, about a month later! Every telephone call to them results in same answer, “we will look into it and let you know what the charges are for”, of course they never do. Emails to them are just ignored. I’ve never written a review on any forum, about any company, but this company should not be allowed to still be in business.. My advice is, don’t give your credit card details to Green Motion = do not rent from them.”
“An openly fraudlent Company...if you don't take their Insurance you will be conned. GM Edinburgh charged me £650 for a cut to a tyre (where I held Video evidence to the contrary-yes they knowingly hired me a car with a cut to the tyre!) and scrapes to the underneath of the car (they said i should've checked under the car!)... It took me nearly a year with my credit card company to gain repayment. Also use super aggressive Eastern Europeans who enjoyed advising you of their charges just when you need to get to the Airport- you'd be mad to use these people. They appeared on a BBC (Inside Out) expose showing identical practices...google this and the Guardian Newspapers reviews. The Industry needs regulating”
“extra fee-Charges are paid by the customer in advance and not afterwards.
I paid 430 euros with full security
and 102 euro management fees,
You gave me a car with petrol in 1/4 of the tank, I returned about 3/4. If I knew from the beginning I'd prefer another company. In Greece we call it cheating in England to let me know how you say it.”
“Went to buy some Car Hire Excess insurance from a specialist insurance company.
This is what the policy exclusion says:
"What’s excluded?
- Any rentals from Green Motion (all other rental companies are accepted)"
I think that says it all!
Company is reducemyexcess so if insurance companies won't cover this company but will cover every single other car hire company in Europe and the USA, what is going on?”
“Picked up car in the dark with some damage marked in the documentation including a dent in one of the doors. Was given until next morning to check it over. With the kids waiting, not much time to consider options so went along with it. Went around the car next morning and took some pictures of the additional undocumented damage I could see, and emailed in. Upon return am confronted with the beforementioned dent and the fact that its location on the car doesn’t match the documentation. HOWEVER the staff also agrees that there is no other dent on the car, so can’t explain in that case why I had signed off on a dent which clearly does not exist. Staff also rude and dismissive. I stood my ground and refused to sign anything and eventually a “customer services” chap did appear and somehow could see “in the records” that the damage was indeed pre-existing but its location had been misdocumeted. Unclear what records he was looking at and why they differed from the documents produced when i collected the car. In all, felt shady and quite unpleasant.”
“Stay the hell/f away from this company, they are operating a huge scam and no matter how hard you mitigate, they will catch you out and apply some trumped up charge which your bank will be less than interested in helping you get back.
Avoid, Avoid, Avoid”
“It is not y accident that Green Motion is the ONLY car hire company that my Excess Insurance Policy will not cover, obviously because they (Green Motion) charge customers for previous damages even if these are hardly visible or not visible without a spotlight. Avoid them, they are obviously scam artists. p.s. Their employees get a bonus for finding damages they can charge. We always use Hertz, Alamo or Firefly.”
