do not be fooled to inspect yourself the next day until 10am. If you don't notice something and they know the fault, it will be found quickly and you will pay for it!!!! No recommend Ruth staff!!!

Pure scam, stay away. You hire a car - you return the car but they aren't present and ask to drop keys to a letter box; they scratch the car and charge you money. Scam scam scam.

Never in all my years of renting a car have I been treated so badly and I have never had someone force me to pay extra money on a rental car. My car rental in Edinburgh, Scotland last August, was prepaid and after almost a two hour wait to be seen by someone in the office I was told that because my credit card did not have a chip and pin it would not be accepted. I have not heard of a chip and pin card in the USA although they are common in Europe. I was told that I must buy insurance which was more expensive than my original rental fee. As my trip was starting I had no choice but to use a different credit card to and buy the insurance. Strangely, that card with no chip and pin was fine to buy insurance. While on my trip I contacted my credit card company and explained the situation, which I consider fraud, and they agreed with me and canceled the insurance payment to you. Later I talked to two other car rental agencies who both said that never heard on any such attempt to change me the insurance fee. We also spoke to another couple when we returned our car who were furious that the same thing happened to them. Sincerely, and one who will never again rent from Green Motion again.

I arranged a rental period of 88 days. This was done online 4 weeks prior to me collecting the car from Manchester Airport (which incidentally is not at Manchester Airport). I completed the form and scanned in all documents required so as the collection would be as quick and smooth as possible. When I arrived to collect the car I was greeted by the most unhelpful person you could ever wish to meet. The person in question I believe is Ben Hunter. After giving him my details and explaining I had completed everything online he told me he couldn't find anything and I would have to fill out a new form and submit all necessary documents. When I explained I didn't have everything with me he became rude to the point of being aggressive . Eventually when the documentation was sorted he then informed me I wasn't allowed to have the car as I had hired from them previously in the past twelve months and that Green Motion was a car rental company and NOT a contract hire company. I was now becoming increasingly tired of his rude and obnoxious attitude. I said I would then look to find another car rental company. Amazingly his cocky attitude seem to change and then agreed to let me have the car. Just when I thought he couldn't get anymore bolshy he then informed me that the holding deposit of £1405 would have to be re done every 28 days and if I didn't come back to the branch he would fine me £250. When I asked if he would allow me extra mileage to make the return trips he said in no . By this time I was furious and just wanted to get away. I took the car and drove off. I contacted Green Motions head office and they told me firstly Ben Hunter was totally out of order in refusing me the car hire because I had previously hired from them, secondly as it was not explained in this T's & C's they could not insist I return every 28 days to renew the holding deposit. Lastly he was bang out of order threatening to fine me if I didn't return. Their head office was horrified by Ben Hunters behaviour . I can only hope he has been removed from the company or offered some sort of customer service training. After this experience I will never hire from this band of thugs again and will advise anyone thinking of car hire to avoid this company at all costs .

Hired a car from Stanstead airport, on returning was told I'd have to pay for very small scuff on alloy wheel. They couldn't prove it was down to me, I was told they had a photo of it before I took but for data protection reasons I couldn't see it. I was then charged £160 for a £30 job.

had a terrible experience with this company in May 2017. The initial collection experience was pleasant, however, on the way back to returning the vehicle to Birmingham airport, there was a collision which was not my fault. I explained all details to the company not only in the report but also on the telephone to the Manager (Mallick?). He said he knew the roundabout well where the incident had occurred and implied that it was not my fault. Whilst the matter was being dealt with by the insurance company, etc. my GBP 1,000 deposit was withheld. After chasing them with frequent phone calls and emails for 2 whole years, I finally had to give up as I was getting nowhere. Not only have they unjustifiably held on to my money, they have failed to communicate with me explaining why. I will never hire from Green Motion again.

It’s a trap! £1250 deposit or additional insurance So you get hit with the £1250 deposit requirement or offered an alternative of taking out their insurance. So to my £130 booking for 11 days ended up costing a total of £338. Avis or Hertz are equal in the costs and provide better, clean cars. Never again will I book green motion.

Green Motion at Stansted Airport (A small free bus ride away) was great. we booked direct with them on there website a we booked the Premium Plus insurance. So no hassle at all unlimited mileage you don't have to worry about little scuffs or dents occuring and you only pay £50 deposit. me and my wife were very pleased and we got a upgrade as well!

Green Motion Review WARNING! FRAUD!! This place is a scam operation against which I am currently taking legal action. Our story: My elderly, disabled mother and I booked a car hire for 21 days through Discover Car Hire that represents Budget, Alamo, Enterprise, etc. and had a 4.5/5 trust pilot review. So I didn’t bother to google Green Motion, a company they represent, out of a false sense of security. IF the broker was legit so must the car rental company. This is why I am giving Discover Car Hire a 1 star review because if they are representing a fraudulent company, they must also be fraudulent. OUR STORY: After a 2 hour wait to receive our car they informed me they didn’t have the car I booked. They instead gave me an “upgrade” and charged me accordingly. Moments after driving out of the car park, smoke started coming from the car. I pulled over and called Green Motion who told me if the car broke down to call the roadside assistance of the car make since they do not maintain their own roadside assistance. I told them I wanted to return the vehicle and get another. The car broke down on the way back. By this time, we had had the car for 15 minutes and had driven 3 miles. I called Green Motion and they immediately started telling me I had damaged the vehicle and it was clear this was my fault. They refused to give me a refund or a replacement vehicle. I called my credit card company and cancelled the charges. I called Discover Car Hire who offered ZERO help. After a few weeks Green Motion sent a fraudulent letter to my credit card company full of lies and Visa had to put the charges back on. THEN, they’ve attempted to charge my credit card even though I paid for full liability insurance. The damage to the car? The hydraulic cable to the slave cylinder which could have only been damaged by undercarriage impact. Cost of the repair? $300 at most. Cost Green Motion has been trying to charge my credit card? Various sums in the vicinity of $3600. Plus they’ve sent threatening emails saying they were going to send me to debt collection. I am now in contact with some Scottish lawyers about bringing fraud charges against this company. As I ramp up my case and evidence, I will also be looking into suing Discover Car Hire as well. How has Green Motion been able to operate for so long in a place as civilised as Scotland!?!

Cheap and Green - - at the start. BUT wait until the end. After extensive review and search for an affordable and efficient car hire, GreenMotion came out on top of a fairly empty field of contenders. Everyone else costs more for their green car option. Received a Toyota Prius Hybrid. They give you the cars “as-is”, so that’s the first (relatively minor) gripe I have. Front right tyre was low on air and the tank was on fumes, so they advised me to go direct to the petrol station (at least then I could bring it back empty, so no extra cost but annoying to start). The car was well marked up. There were heavily marked spots, and several marks that were large but not something they will record because “the mark didn’t go through the enamel”. This was made clear when we pointed out several marks on the body - - we were conscious of investigative journalism finding that GreenMotion liked to make extra money off of excessive damage claims - - more than any other car hire company; see The Guardian, 2018 consumer advocacy article titled “Green Motion has low car hire rates – but users say there’s a sting in the tail... It’s easily our most complained-about hire firm” The trip: fine, after filling up on petrol and air. Made it from the pickup to the petrol station on the fumes and a bit of battery. Efficiency was great - - 400miles on 30L. Return: as others found, the agent went straight to the tyres and picked out what he wanted to charge for. He pointed at two tiny marks along the bead of the alloy rim, where it meets the tyre. Tyre was fine, but these marks were indicated, tight within the joint between the tyre and the alloy. How does one scuff this part of the alloy, but not the tyre? I didn’t even do city driving / parking, so no chance of scraping on a border or anything. Further, the tyre was fine, and the marks were short and intermittent - - reflects something hard impacting the alloy, rather than anything you get from driving. Finally, my last argument was that the body marks he indicated as negligible at pick-up were far larger than these tiny alloy marks, but the agent’s position is that there are different rules for Mark size on the body vs the alloys. For alloys, a mark of any size is chargeable. He pulled out an international standards chart on an A1 poster filled with tiny font to justify this – something he didn’t use when reviewing the car at pick-up. I inquired and quizzed about the charge and what their plan was, with the repair and he said he didn’t know how it was repaired, but the alloy would be repaired (no doubt, such small marks will not be repaired). Eventually he tired of my quizzing and threatened to charge £600 for an all new alloy if I didn’t just agree and sign for the repair. Okay, I was clever enough to have third-party excess insurance, so I paid and will go through the faff to get reimbursed. But let this be a warning to others - - it WILL be extra work to close out your hire. When we returned ours, literally 2 others before, and 3 other returns after went through the same experience as us. For one other renter we spoke with, a scuff on one tyre required a £400 payment to replace both tyres. These customers’ trips were ruined by wholly unreasonable charges. My experience was ruined by the indignity of the customer service, and the follow-up trouble I will face to claim the insurance repayment. I will not use GreenMotion again, and would highly advise against it for others, unless you get excess insurance and don’t mind the indignity their customer service will put you through, or claiming insurance afterwards. Experience was at the Edinburgh Airport branch this morning (11/09/2019), but is apparently a common theme across the company.

The waiting period on collection was 90minutes. The Representative Gabriel fed as incorrect information by way of saying pay 45.00GBP to fill your Car to avoid having to fill on drop off. This was bad advice which we debated with him at the outset as we said we were not going to use the car enough to use this much petrol however he insisted and said it was the best course of action to take, He was WRONG as we returned the Car with only a quarter of a Tank used and they advised no Refund was due. This unfortunately not an ethical practice on their part. Then we went to do a joint inspection of the Vehicle before leaving their premises, this was a long process at least 30mins as Gabriel again was making ridiculous statements re the scratches and dents on the Car and in the end we became irritated with his attitude. Returning the vehicle was much easier and the staff who assisted were friendly and professional and very helpful. Overall it was a learning curve using this establishment and feel this feedback is important as they need to improve their service and stop their false advertising as the lead in price is not the price you pay they load it with insurance although we paid for a complete package with insurance or so we thought until Gabriel started rambling again and insisted we take out further insurance. Unfortunately would not recommend this Company or endorse their unethical practices. On the positive side the Car was great and as I said the returns staff were too!

The WORST company l have EVER dealt with. DO NOT use them. Scammed me for £450 simply because l couldn't print a document proving address even though l could show it on my phone. I begged to email it to them and asked if l could connect to their wifi - NO!! Who prints in 2019??!! They cancelled my booking and kept £450. Disgusted.

Please do yourselves a great favour and do not book with this company. They are unpleasant, unhelpful and try and charge you extra just for using a debit card. I tried to hire a car on 23rd August at Edinburgh Airport. A car that I had booked and paid for 6 months in advance. They would not accept my debit card as a deposit, neither would they allow me to change the booking into my friend's name who had a credit card. Eventually they wanted to charge me £140 to accept my debit card and when I said no, the rental agent was rude and wouldn't let me hire the vehicle I had booked. Neither would he process a refund. I book many cars and I have never had this experience before, I will never ever book with Green Motion again. They aren't worth the grief.

Green motion is a big scam Green motion is a big scam. Their policies are and wordings on them are misleading in every way, in an attempt to get you to purchase for a price, which they will cheat you out of, either by finding a flaw and therefore cannot give you a car (and remember, no refunds), or by charging exorbitant insurance as there is some 'document' missing. So it is a deliberate attempt to misguide you into making a mistake so that they can keep your money without serving you or extort extra out of you. Their customer service has no clue about the policies, and misquote them all the time, and the employees at the branch(Edinburgh Waverly) I visited were plain rude, unhelpful, and aggravated already. This happened not only to us but to 4 other renters before us. However, having read about them on TripAdvisor and other review sites, it seems this happens everywhere, I realised my mistake, albeit a little too late. The management refused to respond to these actions when contacted, leading me to believe that they endorse this behaviour. My honest advice is to never hire from them, even if they appear a little cheaper than the rest.

My wife and I rented a car from their Edinburgh airport branch, and when we returned it the agent said there was a dent in the door. He pointed to it but I couldn't see it. He then took me to see the manager, and when I returned with the manager, I was just able to make it out. When I returned a few minutes later to take a photo, I again couldn't see it. My wife tried to see it twice, and couldn't. I also ran my finger over it, and couldn't feel it. They charged us over £300 to repair an essentially invisible dent, that could not have been more minor, and can not be seen in the photos we took. As one of your other reviewers said, I think their business model is to charge very low rates and then, if you're unlucky enough to have any kind of damage (the manager suggested someone must have opened their car door into ours), to recoup their money through outrageous charges. We appealed the charge and got back a form letter that ignored what we had written. We will never rent from them again.

Don´t trust this company! We had to pay 300£ for a super smal dent which we almost couldn´t see and which must have been there already because we took really good care of the car and didn´t use it so much. They know you have to catch your flight and so they just wait until you sign the paper. And in the beginning they even told us that smal things doesn´t matter. but we cant proof that and they said they never told us that. Don´t choose them!!!
