“The furniture I ordered was delivered when they said and was of the quality I expected for the price , however when I wanted to return an item that was surplus to requirements, I had to pay £50 to have it collected when it was only cost £109 ! So make sure you actually want an item before you commit to the order as their returns policy is pants !!!!!!”
“Ordered a mattress at the beginning of January. Money was taken from my account straightaway. Picked first delivery date available which was in February (4 weeks later). Booked day off work. By the morning of delivery I still had no idea what time it would be arriving. I called Matalan Direct several times during the day and each time I was assured and fobbed of with excuses that my mattress had been dispatched and should still be arriving that day. At 4.30 pm that day I got a call to say label had fallen off and now it couldn't be delivered until the following Monday. I was unable to waste another days holiday from work, so I cancelled and was refunded. I was offered no gesture as an apology for the inconvenience. Would not recommend using Matalan Direct.”
“Not happy with the quality of the products at al. Description said it is solid wood. Not at all.its made of ply wood every single leg came with a white sticker on it which would NOT come off without leaving mark. I paid good quality furniture price and got ikea quality. Only reason I didnt send it all back was to keep the wife happy. Not a happy customer at all”

Online charge - they took more money from my card than the total of the goods I bought. Tried to tell them but they refused to acknowledge the error!
Late delivery - Delivery turned up TEN DAYS late!
Damaged goods - When they eventually turned up, the mirror was smashed and the wardrobe was a different wood than advertised!
Worst customer service - Phoned multiple times and was just brushed off by rude staff. They said I could only return items to store or organise a courier at my own cost!
Trading standards need to close Matalan Direct down!”
“Thinking of visiting Matalan in HAYES... well don't. I am a regular customer there and when I attended on 23rd Jan the car park ticket machines were not working... I went in the store and told the sales assistant and she replied yes we know.. 2 weeks later I get a letter from smart parking informing me I should pay £50 .. what a joke. I told them the machines were not working and spoke to the store who confirmed they were not and still expected to pay... is this for real?”

“We bought a copper pendent light, which i love! it fits perfectly in the bedroom. Easy to change over and we were able to adjust the length of it no problem.
The reason for not rating the delivery service that highly is, Our parcel was actually delivered to the wrong address (without us knowing) it was only thanks to the kindness of the people who it was delivered too dropping it round to our house meant we received the parcel. I think they use Hermes, who aren't great!
Had the parcel been delivered to our house, then timing wise it was spot on!”
“Bought the table and two chairs in cream faux leather for sons new flat , very pleasantly surprised at excellent quality of table and the chairs are comfy to sit on . Easy to construct by one woman (!) and very tempted to keep it for my self ! Excellent value for money and fab quality .”
