“The coverage seems fine, however my complaints are these: 1 - processing time took longer than expected 2 - It appears that my reimbursement was short by $50. This is because you took both my $500 deductible “AND” applied my 10% co-pay to the first $500 in eligible charges.”

Thank you for your feedback. Claims are processed in the order in which they are received and can take 39-45 days to process. We appreciate your patience. You meet your 10% copay first and then the deductible, not the other way around as we do not cover 100% of your bill.

“Not much is covered for the cost. Once you have insurance, though, you have to keep it because your pet probably has "pre-existing" conditions. Check insurance policies carefully when you adopt a new pet to make sure you're getting the best insurance for your money. I wish I would have researched more. It's not horrible insurance, but it's definitely not the "best" either.”

Hi Sandra, you select the deductible when you enroll. If you feel $500 is too high, you are welcome to choose a policy with a lower deductible. This change will require a new policy with all new waiting periods and rates. Give us a call if you would like to go over options!

Yes, prices will tend to go up as your pet ages. Much like in human health care, an older person is going to be more expensive to insure than a younger one. Similarly, a pet's chances of becoming ill will increase as they age. The insurance premiums are designed to reflect this increased risk of illness. Rates are based on pet's age, breed, and cost of veterinary care in your area. You'll be happy to know that prices do not go up because of your pet's personal claims filing activity. We notify you 40 days prior to renewal to let you know what to expect and renewal is 12 months from your enrollment date.

“While the service is fine, in general…the claims process takes about a month or more and their customer service chat is usually unavailable. I don’t call on the phone because it’s usually a lengthy wait. The good news is everything is updated on the website. I wish claims were reimbursed faster.”

In all my years of being a client I don’t think they have ever met the time frame promised on their website & that should be updated to reflect a more realistic time frame and manage clients expectations”

“The claims reimbursement used to be much quicker. Even before COVID, the reimbursement became a month or more. I pay quite a bit for this insurance and am becoming more and more disappointed. I have a large claim now that hasn’t been reimbursement in over a month. I am fortunate enough to where I could pay my charge card off. If I wasn’t capable, I would have paid over $1000.00 in interest. The service definitely needs improvement. Used to love the service.”

“There are not many “exclusions” since we joined Pets Best when our dog was a puppy. Didn’t have to worry about pre-existing conditions. The one negative is the amount of time you have to wait for a payment. The last one took 30 days from submission.”
