I wish they had a better wellness program because it’s expensive having pet insurance & then paying for a wellness program with your vet. So I opted for an insurance that also covered wellness & this one had better coverage of all the vaccines & it’s still cost me over $400 out of pocket…

My claim reimbursement was confusing. Also, although I am supposed to be reimbursed $65 for Flea/tick prevention and $30 for heartworm protection, I only received $38.00 in total. The Revolution prescribed is Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention. I should have received $65.00. I also received $0 for his vaccination booster. I am also used to a 3 day turn around and phone accessibility. Neither were up to par. This was my first claim with Pets Best Health

They do not pay enough on the Wellness Portion of the Insurance.

Insurance is meant to help you with the unexpected, broken bones, urinary blockages or cancer. Wellness is not insurance, its a benefit meant to help you offset the cost of what you would be spending whether you have insurance or not, so its not going to pay your full bill for these wellness visits.

the wait time on processing claims has gotten very long. it is not unusual that i get a “sorry for our delay” message with each claim. every once in a while makes sense but is really difficult when living with a dog with chronic conditions and ongoing vet bills. it also seems unnecessary since the claims are the same ever month.

I am happy with the insurance. I was VERY disappointed when my claim was denied after my dog was attacked by another dog. The $440 emergency vet bill was not covered at all. Isn’t that the point of insurance??

Hi Dawn, you have a $500 deductible for the year which you selected when you enrolled. The deductible has to be met before the policy reimburses you.

I believe the claim evaluation procedure is excessively lengthy. I understand 15 to 20 days, but my recent claims have taken 30 days or longer. I use this insurance to cover costs, however it appears that I am incurring costs as a result of the interest rate while waiting for the funds to be refunded.

Overall I have had a great experience with PetsBest. Unfortunately the increases in the annual premium is beginning to get scary as is the delay in refunds. I love the company and have 2 dogs with policies, but I may not be able to hold their policies much longer.

Yes, prices will tend to go up as your pet ages. Much like in human health care, an older person is going to be more expensive to insure than a younger one. Similarly, a pet's chances of becoming ill will increase as they age. The insurance premiums are designed to reflect this increased risk of illness. Rates are based on pet's age, breed, and cost of veterinary care in your area. You'll be happy to know that prices do not go up because of your pet's personal claims filing activity. We notify you 40 days prior to renewal to let you know what to expect and renewal is 12 months from your enrollment date.

I live your company! I’ve purchased your insurance plans for my last 5 dogs…soon to be 6!! But the processing is taking too long. I understand that it may be caused by a lack of agents to process claims. I hope this can be remedied soon.

I’ve been a Pet’s Best customer for years. I’ve been disappointed in the processing time for claims! It never used to be this way. When a claim of ours was processed in April you neglected to process a split claim so I had to call Customer service which was a 40 min process to talk w someone! Now the claim is being processed and date of my dogs appointment was April 14, over 2 months ago!

Hi, claims can actually take 15-30 days to process. We do not keep claims open longer than 40 days.

Not sure how this REALLY works.. I'll leave another review once I speak to someone about my reimbursement I was supposed to get . So far I spent right around $3,000.00 on my baby's emergency vet visits and her regular vet visits.. I paid in full out of pocket and when I received my reimbursement check ( shall I say TWO checks) I almost wanted to cry.. all together both checks they sent me didn't even add up to $150.00. I'll be calling tomorrow and figuring out what is the deal with this insurance and if I will be opting out and taking my business somewhere else. This lil girl is my life.. that's why I have always had some kind of insurance on her, but if this is what they have to offer, I don't really find any real help or real need for them. Hopefully the next review will be figured out and more on a positive note. That's all I really want..

My biggest complaints are that it is I possibly to SPEAK to a REAL person and that claims take forever. 😕

The processing time for the claim was too long. I have been a member for over ten years and never once missed a payment and have totally accept the substantial rates increases over the years. Despite this, Pet's Best said our claim was delayed due to their high volumes of claims. There is no excuse for staffing deficiencies with the premiums I have paid over the last ten years.

Overall happy with Pets Best. The time to get a payout isn’t as advertised, however. Expect to go a month before you see reimbursement.
