6 weeks for a review of a claim is excessive.

They are taking an increasingly long time to process claims. They didn't process any of the past 5 claims in the timeframe they promised.

PetsBest does not like to pay out on claims as much as they should. I will be cancelling my policy with them. It'll be easier and more cost effective to just take my monthly fees and put it in a savings account for my pet's medical needs.

They get 2 stars because their prices are competitive. But you get what you pay for. Their customer service is the worst. They have a really hard time understanding simple questions. Other times they are dismissive with their responses. Their communication via e-mail is terrible: slow and ineffective. They charged me more then they should when I renewed my policy and now they don't want to take any responsibility for those extra charges. They say it's not their fault. Can you believe that? Plus, they stopped responding to my e-mails.

The time to process claims has shot up so high! We are so bummed that it’s taken 6 weeks to get back with us. We wish things were more timely and current. Also, my coverage is quite good but more often than not, we aren’t seeing that reflected on our returns. I’ve had to counter the claims more than once to get my full refund.

Hi, claims can be delayed if information requested is not received. On average, claims are processed within 15-30 days.

Rate increased after 1 year for no reason. Cancelled

Yes, prices will tend to go up as your pet ages. Much like in human health care, an older person is going to be more expensive to insure than a younger one. Similarly, a pet's chances of becoming ill will increase as they age. The insurance premiums are designed to reflect this increased risk of illness. Rates are based on pet's age, breed, and cost of veterinary care in your area. You'll be happy to know that prices do not go up because of your pet's personal claims filing activity. We notify you 40 days prior to renewal to let you know what to expect and renewal is 12 months from your enrollment date.

I have had the same services approved and paid for for the last 5 years and this year I get push back and no one has follow through to help me out. I have talked to about 5 customer service reps since March which agree with me that my claims should be approved and still no resolution.

If someone were to ask me about Pets Best my response would be "Eh". The insurance is adequate. It covers most of the big ticket items. What's wrong with pets best? They take FOREEEEVVVEEEERRRRR to process anything (except payment, they get that through promptly every time). They also seem to hunt down any loophole they can find. One of my dogs had to have a tooth extracted because of a growth (this cost me $1200). Pets best denied the claim because my dog hasn't had her teeth cleaned under general anesthesia in the past 13 month. First of all, my dog got her teeth cleaned 6 months ago, she's just super chill and doesn't need anethesia. Second of all, per our vet, the growth had nothing to do with the cleanliness of her mouth. Let's revisit the prior statement though that she did in fact have her teeth cleaned 6 months ago. Moral of the story, if you can wait weeks on end to get reimbursement, want insurance that requires you to take unnecessary risks with your pets well being and will still look for any possible loophole to avoid paying out, pets best is great. I for one will begin looking for a new insurer, preferably one that doesn't require me to take unnecessary risks like anesthesia for routine things.

Our periodontal coverage essentially works like this: From age 0 to age two, there is no teeth-cleaning requirement in order to have periodontal coverage. In other words, as long as periodontal disease is not pre-existing to the policy when your pet is age 0 to age two, your pet is not required to have a teeth cleaning to have periodontal coverage. For pets aged 3+, Pets Best will verify with your vet a teeth cleaning was done in the previous 13 months. As long as that teeth cleaning comes through with no signs or symptoms of periodontal disease, your pet will have coverage if this develops. This cleaning must be done under general anesthesia. Additionally, any pre-existing periodontal disease will not be eligible for coverage under our policy. Your pet must be free of all dental disease at time of sign up. You dont have to follow these guidelines but in turn there wont be coverage for these issues. We hope your pet is doing better.

I have 3 dogs that I insure with Pets Best. I also purchased the additional coverage for wellness for one of my dogs. While at my yearly checkup to get vaccinations my vet who did a very through exam noticed a lump on my dog. It was negative after a biopsy was completed. I filed a claim for benefits only for the vaccines and visit for them. It took many weeks to get a response. Very slow poor service. Then my claim was not paid properly. Pets best tried to rip me off and say the exam was not covered since it was for a mass. Uh no my policy covered or so it says a wellness exam with vaccines and that is what this was. It just happened that my vet being responsible found the mass. . In looking further Pets Best did not even cover all the vaccines. I have called and discussed. I was told that it will be reviewed and will be several more weeks. I am considering canceling this coverage as this company seems to look for ways not to pay. If I had had the vet bill it separately then there might not have been a question. So beware of this company. They are slow to pay and they seem to look for ways not to pay.

My dog had a condition that pop up over the course of the years I had with the insurance and they deny covering it and chalk it up to pre-condition when it wasn’t. They just don’t want to reimburse or actually review the case. Waste of money. You’re better off just making a payment plan with your local veterinarian than shelling out money that going nowhere toward your pet insurance.

Hi, we process claims based on medical information from your vet. If you disagree you can file an appeal with supporting documents.

Claims take to long to process. When I signed up 7-10 days was the typical turnaround time. Now it is closer to a month. This has me considering other companies

Over the past year, we have noticed that completing a claim takes no less than a month. Pets Best used to turn claims around within 10 days or so. It is difficult to comprehend why there has been such a dramatic change in this. I am wondering if my confidence in Pets Best has taken a hit because of this and the thought has come to me that maybe Pets Best is struggling financially, thus the delays in payments of claims.

I am feeling almost betrayed. I have been paying a LOT of money every month for years. I understand that my first need of your service had a deductible to pay. But, I feel the rest still fell short. Plus, it took a very long time to get a return. When your pet is in emergency need and you are counting on your insurance to help you keep them alive, you need MUCH more and Much more timely coverage for the amount I paid. I was getting ready to put my other young pup on your coverage, but I have found better elsewhere.

My dog has many medical issues andi submit my claims, but since don't issues were there "before" I signed up for your insurance plan, I was not able to claim anything. I spent over $8,000 on my dogs medical issues, and I might have gotten $800 back.
