Stay away, totally incompetent. They cancelled my Fathers Insurance because of an error on their side and informed Him via Post five days later, He had been driving around with no Insurance for five day..... totally despicable....

Waited on phone for 15 mins. Then phone rang for ages then I was asked to do a review before I had spoken to anyone. No wonder 2 messages came saying we had to be polite to service people. I am an old lady who just wants house insurance. Not good.

At the time ( about four years ago ), I insured my car with Saga because they were the cheapest of the many quotes I'd checked out. You get what you pay for. In a subsequent accident, our car was deemed to be a write-off, primarily because the repair estimate included a number of items that were completely extraneous to the actual accident damage. After protracted negotiation, they agreed to have the car repaired, only for their appointed garage to do more damage in the course of carrying out the repair. When I had occasion to speak to them on the phone, it frequently seemed one hand never knew what the other was doing. When they ( eventually ) supplied copies of the estimates from the garage, the two estimates did not make sense with each other - a fact which they were never willing or able to explain. A lengthy complaints process resulted in a paltry payout of £200 in compensation for the appalling customer service I'd received up to that point; an additional £200 was offered when I threatened to take them either to the Ombudsman or to court. I took them to the Ombudsman, who ( surprise surprise ) sided with the insurance company, and the offer of an additional £200 compensation was upheld. Despite the decision of the Ombudsman, it was another six weeks before I finally received that cheque. I can tell you that the £400 total compensation was but a fraction of what would have been justified by the amount of time spent on e-mails, phone calls and letters, not to mention the damage done by their own appointed repairers. If you insure your car with Saga, be prepared to end up dealing with the Ombudsman, and be prepared for the fact that that process alone will take anywhere up to a total of two years over and above the original complaint process. Be aware also that the Ombudsman will almost always side with the insurer, and regardless of this, they have no actual power to enforce their decisions in any case. On your own head be it.

Saga quote just under 800 pounds, for my mother's 3 bed semi. Similar cover from L.V= just under 300 pounds. Draw your own conclusion.

As I’m swapping cars with my daughter for a holiday, I contacted Saga to put her on my insurance temporarily. After failing three times online, I finally chatted online and gave all the details. Although my daughter is in her early fifties, with a clean licence and no convictions or insurance claims, they refused on the basis that the underwriter wouldn’t accept her. They would, however accept her for twelve months with an additional fee of £100. Needless to say I refused, cancelled my policy and have found another company to cover us all for £120 less than Saga’s quote. No one has apologised, or tried to sort it out, even though I’ve been with you for a few years. Shame on you

My Mother's garage flat roof was damaged in recent storms. The garage is one building divided by an internal wall and shared with a neighbour. The building has one roof , is made of one material (Felt) and there is no divide on the roof. Saga claimed that the storm damage was due to neglect and wear and tear and refused to pay for the repair. The loss adjuster who attended the site said that in all his time working for Saga they had only admitted two cases of liability when it came to felt roof damage. The neighbour, on the other hand, was insured with Sheila's Wheels who accepted liability and settled the repair in full. I am dumbfounded as to how the same roof could have been judged to have been damaged in two entirely different ways after a severe storm and will be changing my mother's policy to Sheila's Wheels as soon as I am able at the next renewal point.

SAGA have mismanaged our holiday account. No explanation and no apologies. A total lack of customer service. Discourteous, to say the least.

Dont ever have a claim with them . Clearly someone elses fault ( they left a note on the windscreen admitting it) I had to pay my excess. REALLY!!! I have driven for 35 years and in the police dealing with collisions for 20 years. Never heard such stuff !!!

I complained to Saga six weeks ago about substandard service via telephone and webchat facility. This related to home emergency issue.Whilst I understand that they conveniently pass the buck to the underwriter Axa( I am also waiting to hear from them the after six weeks). Saga called me today to say that they have investigated my complaint and found their people acted impeccably! If this is impeccable service I would hate to see substandard service. Having been passed from pillar to post by a succession of so called advisors (seriously had about seven of them) each passing me on or doing a Pontus Pilate, they now say they were good. Advice to others? Consider someone else

After a 4 year battle with Saga about removing a bogus claim against me from a dubious 3rd party who removed their claim and Saga kept it open so they could charge me a higher premium. Today, they sent me an e-mail stating that they do not have the power to remove it from the records (CUE). They advised me to contact their insurers which I have done over the past 4 years. SAGA has admitted that they are NOT INSURERS therefore they are just BROKERS and that is why they are more expensive as they have to have their cut of the premium. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS THEY HAVE NO POWERS OVER YOUR INSURANCE

Wanted to upgrade insurance to new car. Price being offered was 2 times cost of competitive quotes. Would not even cancel existing policy without a £50 fee.

Shocking. Bombarded every month with letters quoting £194 premium then when I called they asked for over £400! Renewed with Tesco for £198. Seem to prey on older trusting demographic in the hope that they use price comparison sites.

If you are thinking of moving home, don't insure your car with Saga. They will charge you over £100 extra to change your address, even if you are moving to a lower risk area. There is no point in questioning the extra cost as they are not interested as they have you over a barrel.

Took out 3 year home insurance with Saga unfortunately they use Covea. My roof was damaged by wind and storm damage confirmed by two independent roofing companies who recommended claiming from insurance. Covea sent an assessor who was totally uninterested took pictures of the roof from the ground. Wrote an almost unreadable reason for refusing claim as incorrect mortar used. Not taking samples or going up on roof. Based on his report the claim was rejected twice not taking into a count we had 70 pH winds in the last two months The roofing company said if the winds were not so bad the tiles would still be there so nothing to do with wear and tear. Reading the financial ombudsman guidelines I am now appealing with them I thought Saga would use companies that were age friendly. I was asked to confirm his decision by saying yes on his phone, even though I had no idea if he was right of wrong. So my advice check who Saga are using to cover you. This has been a very stressful 3 weeks.

having spent hours searching the different options of river cruises iwith Saga, I decided to phone their number to request information on the cabins. My first call resulted in me holding on for 14 minutes before I became rather angry. I made a coffee and called again and have now been holding on for 20 minutes with no answer. This is NOT good service.
