“Great application kit, colour not true 4.1 ash dark brown had a lot red tone still and did not cover greys even after following a further 10min to develop. Colour left hair dry and I was pleased the kit had a moisturising conditioner. Overall it is a good DYI home product.”

Hi Sandra, Thanks for your feedback. Our Toscano 4.1 Dark Ash Brown neutralises warm tones; I suspect there is an underlying reason why there is still red tones in your hair. We recommend a process called pre-softening ($2.95) for stubborn greys. “I actually did not use the product, as I could not get support from a colourist after many attempts on the web site, email and phoning. I tried to explain that I have greyish white regrowth and have been having my hair colored professionally for years previously natural colour blonde and whether or not to use the bleach precolour wash to soften my very soft fine regrowth touchup.”

“The survey suggested "Chocolate Blonde" would be the colour for me but, unfortunately my greys turned a reddish colour. I used the extra developer beforehand, as suggested because my hair can be quite resistant to colour. The idea is good but not for me, sorry. Too fiddly to apply the colour (I had to get my husband to help with the back).”

“The product itself is lovely. My hair feels shiny, well conditioned & healthy, but the shade is a lot darker than the colour swatch suggested. It does look good though, so I'll keep doing it.”

“Colour was nice, but no better than the professional brand I buy from Price Attack hair supplies. I feel it works out more expensive buying the Shade, so will continue with my large bottle of peroxide and professional tube of colour, which will give me 4 root touch ups from the one tube, and dozens from the peroxide. $25 for a tube of colour and a small sachet of mixer is ludicrous”

“A great idea in theory but perhaps not the best option for everyone. I have a long pixie cut and there was just enough dye for full coverage so if u have longer or thicker hair, get extra dye. The application was easy. The included brush was great with strong bristles and the right size to color. Love the barrier oil. Would make cleanup a breeze for darker colors. Smell was pleasant and not over powering. I also have a sensitive scalp and the dye didn't burn or make my head itch like store brands. I started with a darker brown color on my hair with mousy blonde roots. I ordered the lightest ash blond but unfortunately the colour was not the desired result. My roots took the color well but after 50 minutes (10minutes more than the recommended time for stubborn greys) the best it got was a coopery/strawberry blond. It's not hideous but it's not great either. The ends which had a brown colour already didn't change at all. The shampoo and conditioner smelled amazing and my hair is very soft and shiny. Shame the color wasn't the expected result because otherwise it's a great idea and I would have happily had a subscription.”
