“Process was unusual for booking a tour asking too much private information. And when I paid with my card I was charged for another tour I never booked! This was a $1.00 charge which was very suspicious. If they fleece $1 from all customers that is a tort! ☹️”

Hello Matthew, Thank you for your feedback. We can see the required fields for your booking included name, date of birth, nationality and residential address. All of this information, excepting your address, is required by your tour operator. Your address (billing address) is required for payment authorisation. Regarding the $1.00 amount, this is a pre-authorisation, not a charge and is required only under certain circumstances which are dictated by a payment provider and your bank. More specifically: Payment providers verify credit cards by running either a $0 or $1 authorization and then automatically voiding it. For most processors and card brands, transactions are initially tried with a $0 authorization. If $0 authorizations are not supported, a $1 authorization will be performed automatically. It appears your card did not support $0 authorisation, but you'll see that $1 back in your account once your bank has processed the void of this amount. “TourRadar offered unique travel itineraries with enough information to make an informed decision. The in country tour company has been a joy to correspond with. They made some adjustments to the standard itinerary for us and communicated quickly and clearly each time we emailed. TourRadar also has a great staff in Toronto that are attentive, energetic and enthusiastic.”

“Well, the tour we are on is great, and we did book at fairly short notice BUT we had to take matters into our own hands and contact the operator direct to check we could get on it in order to book flights. A phone call from Australia to Tourradar was picked up in Toronto (!) the time zone difference made his ‘as it’s Sunday, we’ll just have to wait for the operator to come back’ very frustrating to us - half way through Monday. And the emailed communication was imprecise and unhelpful.”

We have had a look at your booking and can see that a number of our agents had reached out to the operator multiple times every day within a 3-day period to check the status of your booking. Each time, the operator informed us that they were still waiting on their local operations team in Australia to confirm your spaces. To clarify, operators often need at least 2-3 business days to confirm most bookings that depart within 30 days. This is because they need to reach out to all their local suppliers to ensure that all components of the trip will be available for you. We can certainly understand the sense of urgency you experienced, as your tour was set to depart in just 5 days from when you sent through your booking request. We regret that we were not able to expedite the booking process but are glad that you are on tour now and enjoying your time. Thank you for choosing TourRadar, and happy touring! “The site is very comprehensive and easy to navigate around. When I wanted more details about the tour I was able to contact a staff member and enquire via a chat session. The prices were very competitive and what I really liked was that it was in my local currency. In the past, I dealt with sites that published in USD which was not always an accurate way of costing the trip. Also, when I did book the confirmation came back in good time. Since then I have received more correspondence regarding the trip, which is good to see and very informative. Hopefully, this will continue as it has been.”

“I am a travel agent, and so I have knowledge of what makes bookings easy or difficult. This trip I booked with you is for me personally...I have a personal goal of 100 countries and then I will renegotiate a higher goal. This Balkan Kaleidescope tour will bring me to Sophia, Bulgaria and beyond which will be my 82nd through 88th country...I am so excited. More importantly, I must tell you that I have been perusing TourRadar now for a month, and I am totally impressed with the expansive offerings, the user-friendly web search and details offered, and the knowledge of your representatives who assist on the phone. I am phasing out of my business very slowly, but feel I have found a site I want and will continue to be working with. I would recommend you to anyone....Thank you...Saundra Sage”
