There is a persistent problem with the Argos website, cannot check stock as unable to recognise postcodes, does not recognise its own stores, which means a speculative trip to nearest store. When this problem is pointed out all you get is a disinterested shrug of the shoulders. When compared to other retailers Argos seems shambolic and amateurish.

Hi had great customer service from a lady at aros Newmarket on Thursday ,she was really helpful she approached me at the chequer and explained she could check on till and do home delivery for me To my surprise the item was delivered the same day Would like to thank the blond ladynwith grey glasses sorry I think her name is Lyn.stores should have more people like her

Was told it would arrive between 12 and 6pm, by 6.30 I decided to ring them, we were told they would answer in 2 minutes as phone lines were busy, 1 hour 30 minutes on the phone later still no answer and no washer came, complete waste of a day. Not Happy with this service.

To say this company is poor is an understatement. We ordered our sofas. We are a family with three young children and I have a disabled wife. Due to be delivered on good Friday. No call before to say they were coming, however my wife was home and upstairs when they 'so called' arrived. The only reason she knows they apparently arrived is she gets a call on her mobile from Argos rearranging our delivery. My wife phones back and said they haven't even been. The delivery driver had left notes to say he had, described my house and left a note apparently. We are still yet to find the note. The member of staff she spoke to was rude, judged her for being disabled. Needless to say we cancelled the order. 7 days later still no sofas as we are still waiting for our money back. Phones them again this morning and apparently another delay in the finance department. They have argued all the way through that this is our fault. Will never shop with Argos again! Useless customer service and couldn't organise anything!! How you can leave a family in this position I'll never know. This isn't the last because I'm going to contact other parties as they shouldn't be allowed to carry on like this.

I waited in all Saturday long (midday-9pm) for my items to not be delivered and not even a phone call! Terrible service. I have just moved into a new flat and now have nothing in the kitchen. I haven't bought from Argos before and I don't think I would again

Not one member of staff at the lanark store has any customer service skills. Rather than apologise for the fact they don't have a clue what they are supposed to be doing they all walk about with their heads down trying not to make eye contact with the customers who have been waiting for their goods which have been told to go to the collection point and stood for up to 7 minutes before Stephanie decides to eventually serve anyone

Ordered an I garden storage box on line delivery to be made by Yodel. Waited for 2 days to get my confirmation of delivery time between 7am-8pm Yet Yodel website clearly states 2 hour delivery slotes. No delivery made. Went back into Argos staff member not helpful until I informed her I would not leave and she needs to call customer service Waited 10 minutes before call was answered then advised they would arrange another delivery same times between 7am-

I have just visited your Titchfield store, Fareham. The service we received from Tom, another young lady, and I believe one of your young managers, was exceptional. We are elderly, and not good with technology - but they all went above and beyond good service. They were so very curtious and helpful - the are a credit to your company. From: Miss Dunstan (Fareham)

purchased a washing machine and on the website said it was available and in 48 hours would receive a call to arrange delivery, no call then missed a call on withheld and did not hear for a further few days. had to chase argos to arrange. then the delivery date was a month away! i called customer service to see why they could not do it earlier and it was explained the machine came from abroad. which i had accepted as we needed the machine. the machine is to be delivered in two days time after waiting a month to receive a text saying the machine will not be delivered. no explanation no alternative dates. NOTHING! now im having to chase argos to be told the machine is out of stock! are you kidding me out of stock after waiting a month. and was told the machine can not sit in the warehouse waiting and if someone else orders they send the order to them.. how is that customer service as we had ordered and waited ages. if they had the machine then bloody deliver it earlier!! do not just give someone elses machine to another customer. so they have made one customer very unsatisfied which i have got a full refund and will take my money elsewhere. i will not be using argos for any purchases again. shame really as i am a property manager and work in an estate agents and we do require purchasing alot of items that argos sell but in my eyes it is them who have lost out. better companies with better customer service. no compensation had been given. USELESS!!

The service at Argos is always poor, it's standard poor service. But Carol at the one stop Birmingham Argos is real poor in both customer service and bad behaviour. She argues even when providing a recipt within one year of manufacturing warranty when item is clearly not working.

I ordered a fridge freezer along with other 35 items for my new house. I was given a delivery date. All my order items arrived on time except the fridge. I called customer service and they told me it will only be delivered after 10 days. After challenging all "fake" reasons why they cannot deliver, the manager told me we depend on suppliers and they are out of stock. That is a poor management of customer relationship. I cancelled my order and I will buy the same from a store that respects their customers.

Was just served in wishaw, a bought a hi fi and a was looking for a cable that connects from my tv to my kindle, the girl Lauren tried everything asked everyone and went up beyond the call of duty, she was really nice, professtional, unfortunately after trying cables, we found out argos never had any, so a big many thanks to Lauren,on my experience she must be a great worker and always smiling and well presented. Thank you Lauren very much for a wonderful time

I ordered a television this morning and chose to have it delivered between 1900 hours and 2200 hours this evening. I was sent an email to inform me of the delivery time and it arrived as promised. The whole process from start to finish was 9 hours, I couldnt ask for a better service. I have had the exact same experience on past orders.

Placed a delivery of a new bed frame and mattress, selected delivery time slot and date. Being organised on the delivery date which in fact is today I had my old bed removed ready for the arrival of my new one. Sat and waited for contact from drive but nothing. I rang customer service for an update to find out I wasn't down for delivery today I was in fact due my delivery in 10 days. The lady who was very polite in her response had nothing to say other than it isn't on the system so wouldn't be being delivered. I explained about the e-mail confirmation showing today's delivery date but only the same response could be given. I was offered a good will gesture of a free blow up mistress !!!!! I hadn't got the energy to argue my cause because how could this poor woman who sound down beaten in mood miracle a bed on my doorstep. Looks like I'm going to be having some well earned sleep when the new one actual arrives! Won't be ordering again with them!

Very poorly staffed at Brighton store. Cardenden avenue. Also spoke to a customer service guy called Paul over the phone who was rude and did not have a clue.will never shop at argos again. Poor quality products.

UNBELIEVABLE Customer Service. Don’t believe everything (anything) you are told!! Our order for two sofas appeared to progress well to start with. We were very pleased to receive an email advising that our delivery date (specified at the time of order) had been brought forward and sure enough the Argos delivery lorry turned up at the agreed time and date. Unfortunately it then all started to go wrong!! The driver decided he could not get to our property due to access restrictions. We then had to watch helplessly as our sofas disappeared into the distance. However we were promised re-delivery on a smaller vehicle and that’s when our frustrations began……… On face value the (many) Customer Service agents we spoke to appeared to be very helpful and apologetic BUT we soon came to realise that we were being fobbed off and blatantly lied to, with false promises of new delivery dates which failed to materialise. We were promised re-delivery on no less than FIVE occasions, with assurances on the actual expected day of delivery that our sofas were ‘definitely on a van on their way to you’ but nothing turned up. A total waste of our time waiting in at home for deliveries that in reality were NEVER going to happen! One sofa was eventually delivered out of the blue (with no prior warning) but the promised deliveries of our second sofa failed to materialise. Following a formal complaint to David Robinson (Chief Operating Officer) we were eventually told (by one of his assistants) that the sofas were actually out of stock and could not be delivered for another FOUR weeks!! Having lost total confidence in Argos we decided to cancel our order (and return the one sofa that had been delivered). We were able to buy the same sofas from an alternative supplier at a cheaper price, with immediate delivery. In due course we received a full refund, plus a gift voucher by way of compensation. I can accept that sometimes there can be problems with delivery lead times etc but I cannot accept the blatant lies and deception provided so effectively by Argos customer service staff – absolutely disgraceful!! The sorry saga ended in some amusement. Some three weeks AFTER our order had been cancelled we received a surprise phone call, from an Argos Delivery driver, advising that he was approx. 15 minutes away with a delivery of TWO sofas for us………. Needless to say we told him to go away.

WAITED IN ALL DAY SATURDAY PARCEL NEVER TURNED UP,HAD ONLINE CHAT WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE JUST GOT COCKY REMARKS BACK SAID IT WOULD BE DELIVERED MONDAY WIFE WAITED IN ALL DAY STILL NO PARCEL NOW SUPPOSED TO BE COMING TUESDAY WONT HOLD MY BREATH REALLY BAD SERVICE BETTER OF GOING TO THE SHOPS,ARGOS DID AT ONE TIME BE GOOD THOSE DAYS ARE GONE THEY'RE NOT CHEAP EITHER

Never seen a poorer website, ever. Tried to place an order for same day collection. Argos website couldn't complete the Paypal transaction. Said try another payment option. Chose another and without going back to the section where you enter a discount code, it removed the 20% promotion I had applied and charged my card. Not only that but it reserved the item for collection tomorrow, not today, without confirming. I am leaving to go to the persons house whom the item is for, first thing tomorrow, so won't have time to go to the store and collect it. Away now to pop down to Tescos. No more Argos for me.
