“I ordered a quartz countertop from them. It was installed. NOT what I picked but insisting it is. I have pictures of both. Scratches all along both seams. Promised they would be fixed a month ago. Nobody from store will come and see what I am dealing with. All done by my taking pictures that doesn’t show the whole picture. It is all on me to prove my case. Installed December 21, 2021 and still no resolve. They just tell me to be patient. I am getting no other answers. The store has washed their hands of me. I have to go through Home Depot on other side of country by email and phone calls. Frustrating doesn’t begin to describe but I am feeling. BEWARE IF YOU Give your hard earned money to Home Depot”
“We purchased a fridge and stove for over 2000.00 and the oven in the stove doesn't work. We cannot return it because their return policy won't allow it and now we have to wait until March for a service tech to come and check it out. I will never purchase another major appliance from them again. Very disappointed”
“Washer and dryer purchase in early December 2021, delayed delivery from January 5, 2022 to January 22, 2022. Haven’t heard anything, no calls and still no washer and dryer. Customer Service is an oxymoron with Home Depot right now as I was unable to call anyone, I was advised via long wait message to text. I messaged continuously for 4 days, no replies. Used chat function and finally ‘talked’ with someone but no solutions and still haven’t received any call or update on delivery. Bad experience all around. I would never buy appliances from them again. Going to a dedicated appliance store that gets things done when they say and has actual customer service.”
“Purchased a washing machine and dryer to replace the existing ones and paid for installation as well. The appliances arrived 7+ weeks (74 days) after the purchase date. (We were contacted by an installation team at various times before the delivery for appointments but they couldn’t make an appointment since the appliances hadn’t arrived.) The delivery team left the appliances in the garage. About a week later the installation tech came and hooked up the (gas) dryer but not the washer because he didn’t have the work order for it - he said the delivery team should have hooked up the washer! Set up another appointment for the washer to be hooked up. Another week or so later the installation guy came but refused to uninstall the old washer so the ‘job’ was left ‘incomplete’ - he said he could install the new one but not uninstall the old one! Still waiting for a service technician to install the washer 89 days after purchase ...
Finally (101 days later) paid a plumber extra $ out of pocket to uninstall the old washing machine and install the new one. Went to Home Depot seeking a refund for installation - they said delivery included hook-up, so no refund. Never purchasing anything from Home Depot again.”
“I would give Home Depot Canada zero stars if it was possible. I ordered a new washer and dryer for my daughter to be delivered to their residence, I was told a delivery date of about two months away, ok I guess we are in the middle of this Covid mess. So time goes by and we get a delivery date emailed to me, mid December, great, sounds like they have come through but no, the delivery people phone about an hour before the estimated delivery time to tell us that they don’t have the appliances to deliver, they never arrived at their shipping warehouse. I try to contact Home Depot customer service, well that was a real challenge, the time on the phone was excruciating only to be told it was supposed to be delivered already and there was nothing else she could do. A few days later we receive another delivery date, this one late in December, needless to say the same basic thing happened again, this time after much waiting and pushing I talked the agent into calling LG to see if the appliances had actually been shipped? No they had not, however they would be for sure early January. The next delivery date was January 12th, again nothing, again try to contact a customer service agent, again I talked him into checking into the appliances location which he couldn’t do that day and to his credit he did get back to me to tell me they were in transit, from where to where I still don’t have a clue.
My daughter has five boys and still no appliances! Let me just say never again, I am through with Home Depot, their service is disgusting, their communication is even worse. I have had a credit card with them for over 20 years but not for much longer that’s for sure.”
“Horrific Online e Delivery service. A week after delivery date, customer service advises a new date. No show. Called again, they said the Carrier would call with a delivery time. Again, no show, and zero call. Again called, they said they would get back to me in 24 hours. Real assholes and liars. Zero honesty.”
“Undependable...delivery of online purchases is extremely poor. Long wait times on phone to get through and staff do not even try to make things right for the customer.”
“January 2, 2022, Pasqua St, Regina location.
Wide selection of garden seed, but only ONE bag of soil to purchase in store. Never again will I waste my time going there. Two thumbs down!”
“Bad customer service. Washing machine was supposed to be delivered today. They are supposed to call with a time.....no call. I called them and was on hold for 2 hours just to be told they don't know when it's coming. Maybe later this week. Asked for a manager and was told he would call me within 10 minutes. No call. What a waste of a Saturday. Now I'm trying to cancel my order but they keep putting me on hold then hanging up. Do not buy appliances from home depot. They do not care about the customer.”
“Ordered laminate. 2 pallets, 2 different kinds. Larger pallet was mfg's packing. Like a tank. Smaller pallet of 8 boxes was all damaged. Returned. Refund, reorder. Oh, we are sorry, but we can only get you 6 now. What?? If I need 8, what do I do with only 6? The store (2 hrs away from me) had 200. Couldn't they just ship from there? Nope. Order the 6 and hope I can get someone to p/u the other 2. The 6 arrive. 4 are damaged! And H. D. charged me freight each way. After fighting, I got a bit of a freight refund. They wouldn't do anything abut the hours I spent on hold or waiting for a call while being in the cue. They need more phone numbers that actually go somewhere and don't hide them so well. More real people and less tech. They also need to get a better delivery company than Day and Ross. How can it take over a week to get from Calgary to Regina? I've always had good luck with the local company that p/u from them. They are making it right. Hopefully D & R are paying them.”
“My order is supposedly in transit by Day and Ross. Original order on July 12/21 and Home Depot cancelled that order for some unknown reason. At their request I re-ordered on Aug 6/21 and a Resolutions Specialist became involved which put my order in transit supposedly on Aug 11/21 and a tracking update 24 to 48 hours which has come and gone. No reply to my last two e mails on yesterday Aug 13/21. My absolute last online order with Home Depot Canada, very disappointing and nothing complementary to say about their vendors or delivery company.”
“June 20 ordered Frigidaire Dishwasher. Given delivery date of June 29 also arranged install and take away June 30.
June 27 advised delivery delayed till July 7 and they will advise installer to reschedule till July 8.
June 30 Installer showed up upset nothing here to install. July 7
July 7 called home depot because no Delivery as promised. I was told supplier has not delivered to delivery company. They will let me know 24-48 hours when delivery is rescheduled.
July 16 No call back as promised on July 7th. I Called again and was told they will call delivery company. They told me delivery company has not rec. from supplier. They will get back to me when they get it.
I cancelled order and requested my money back. Order was cancelled in 10 seconds. Lets see how long I will have to wait for my money that Home Depot has had for almost a month. Selling inventory you do not have smells of criminal activity.”
“I am writing to share my ordeal with Home Depot, so that others won't go through what I did.
On May 14, 2021, I ordered a Rheem water heater at Home Depot. The heater came with a 12-year part warranty. It is a top-of-the-line product they sell. I also purchased an extended 10-year labor warranty on top, and asked Home Depot's installer to install the new heater for me. I thought the whole process would be drama-free. After all, it was a one-stop-shop experience with a major retailer. How could I go wrong? I was wrong!
On May 19, 2021, the installer brought in the heater and installed it for me. When the installation was about to complete, the installer found that the heater had a defective part. The water heater could not operate. The installer ordered a replacement part. I was told that the faulty part would be replaced in 2 days at most. Six days later, there was still no replacement. I called and emailed Home Depot and the installer multiple times. Emails to Home Depot got only auto-reply. Phone calls to Home Depot, I was put on hold for half and hour before connecting with a human. Sometimes, my line was even dropped while waiting. Ironically, I was asked to leave a feedback at the end of the call. What a joke! If they truly want my feedbacks, here it is.
Despite the multiple contacts, the replacement part was nowhere in sight, as if no one cared. With the new, top-of-time water heater, I had no hot water for almost a week. While the heater was dead, my credit card was charged the full price on the date of installation. The warranty including the extended warranty also commenced on the day of installation, even though technically the installation was incomplete and the heater was not operational.
On the 6th day of waiting, I called the installer again and yelled at them on the phone. The lack of hot water had become unbearable. I escalated the issue to Better Business Bureau as I felt cheated in this purchase. Finally, on the 6th day after the first installation, the installer came and swapped out the faulty part. The multiple visits of the installer was by itself unacceptable in this pandemic time. However, I had no choice but to let them in, or my new water heater wouldn't be fixed. The installer only knew how to blame the manufacturer. Home Depot only knew how to pass the bug to their contractor. In the end, I, as their customer, was hanging out to dry.
Soon after the repair, I escalated to Home Depot for proper resolution on this matter. Initially, Home Depot offered me a $150 gift card. It was an insult for what I went through. Later, they increased the offer to $250 and asked if it was fair. No, it was neither fair nor reasonable. It's a shame for the poor customer services and defective product they provided. Finally, they increased the offer to $450, and suggested me to either take it or leave it. More importantly, for a multi-national retailer in the business, the way Home Depot behaved is no better than a mom-and-pop corner store.
When I ordered the water heater and the installation service from Home Depot, I was told that if I rescheduled the installation for whatever reasons, I would be charged $125 + HST every time. However, when they failed to meet their end of the bargain, all they offered me as a concession is $75 a day. Also, none of my warranties (be that the factory or the extended) was adjusted to start on the date when the work was substantially completed, contrary to the industry standard. This is terrible for a company that prides itself as a reputable retailer in the renovation business.
I feel the need to share my ordeal with Home Depot, so that no one would face the same experience as mine. In closing, shoppers beware when shopping for water heaters at Home Depot!”
“I wish I could put down no stars but that's not possible when you want to write a review. I bought some items on
on line at home Depot and they canceled all my order but they charged my Visa. I talked to at home Depot in Burlington
and the woman I was talking to was not very helpful and said that they did not charge the Visa so I asked her for the manager and I talked to the manager he did not know too much either but he was very nice about the situation and told me that I had to talk to the 1-800 number. I called the 1-800 number but was told by a machine that was going to take a long time so I text them instead. The person I text said the order had been canceled but my Visa was not charged. I know home Depot charged my Visa because Visa charge me for that amount and Visa told me I couldn't get a credit unless home Depot canceled the amount they put on my Visa so I'm back to square one. I called them once again and I was told that the order was canceled but my Visa was not charged again that was a lie I don't know why they cannot look at the computer which would tell them that my order was canceled and my Visa was charged. Once again I tried to use the texting of home Depot and I was told again that my Visa was not charged why won't anybody listen to me at home Depot. So once again I phone home Depot this time I stayed online on hold and finally got somebody to talk to and they said yes my Visa was charged and my order canceled and that they would reimburse my Visa five to seven business days with no apologies or anything I said can you not do it now and she said no you have to talk to somebody to a supervisor up and then she hung up on me. well now I have to wait 5 to 7 business days and I don't even know if I'm going to get my credit on my visa”
“I placed an on line order. After one week, the order had not shipped. Indeed, under "My Orders" it did not even appear. I decided to go to the store and get the product after all. I then started to try to contact Customer Service to cancel the on line order. I attempted to call the 1-800 number. I was informed the wait time was over 60 minutes, and it was recommended to send a text. I followed that recommendation. Every day, I would send a text stating that " I am still waiting". After a week, I got a text telling me that this means of contact was no longer supported. I then got an email telling me that the order that was not on my profile had shipped. I know Covid-19 slowed things down, but, it is no excuse for out and out lies, incompetence and disregard for normal customer support. Completely unacceptable.”
“Home Depot advertises “Same Day Installation” if you order before noon for their water heaters. The house we rent out to tenants had their water heater break Sunday morning, so we placed our order with Home Depot on Sunday, understanding that they don’t do installations that day but assumed it would be done Monday because of the “Same Day” policy.
We were told to expect a call early Monday morning, no one called. When we followed up with the store, they said someone would reach out within the next couple of hours. No one did. After finally calling around everywhere (transfers, holds, and given various phone numbers), someone told us they would be out to do the measurement later in the day and if everything went well, they’d proceed with the installation. Someone finally came by in the afternoon to do the measurement but said there was no time to do the installation. We were told that our order should show up in the work schedule the following day (Tuesday/today), so we requested that it be done in the morning as this is an emergency situation. The installers made note of it and left.
When we called this morning, our address was not on their work list schedule and couldn’t provide further information. When we reached the store, no one there was of any help and couldn’t explain what was going on because they don’t deal with it, it’s the installers that do. Then we get a call from the store that our initial quote was wrong because the Home Depot associate on Sunday forgot to charge a labour fee, so our installation fee went from an estimated $480 to $590 because of their mistake (the associate had quoted that most installations cost around $500, so I’m not sure how he was off by almost $100). Now we’re being told that *maybe* someone will be sent out tomorrow to do the installation.
My dad has taken off work each day this week to get this sorted out and be there when the installers come, meanwhile Home Depot has just been giving us the run around. Had we known that the installation fee was that much and that they were incapable of doing the installation within a set time frame (same day?), we would’ve gone with another company.
Does Home Depot plan on giving us any sort of compensation for all their mistakes, delays, missed work time, and inconveniences to the people going without hot water for days now? I doubt it, but I’ll update the review more positively if they do. As it stands now, I’ll be sure to tell everyone to stay away from using their services if they are unable to resolve and apologize for this accordingly.
Those that were considering using their installation services – look elsewhere. This is specifically in regards to the Meadowlands Home Depot, so anyone in the Ancaster/Hamilton region, stay away, as they probably use the same installers for the area.”
