For years I've been running in some Nike 3" splits, which were ok, but not practical for going into stores, etc, so the 5" Alta's are a perfect length. Nothing rubs, they dry super fast, and the elastic waist is flat, so as not to leave a "Batman Belt" pattern imbedded in your skin, ha. They're excellent for track workouts, road/trail running, and faster/hotter hikes with some great storage pockets for a phone and some nutrition.
