I recently moved to Norwich and spent a lot of money in Jarrolds on furniture. At the time of settlement I asked if the cashier could change a £20 note for 2 x £10 notes, to which I was emphatically told that it is the companies policy not to change pound notes. After handing over a hefty final payment I would have thought that protocol could have been waived to retain a customer, but it appears that is not the case. Sad really.
