Our experience with Acoustimac could not have been better. Our project involved the provision of 29 panels, mostly 2" thickness, for a set of studios. The difference was almost unbelievable-- staff members were walking into rooms and doing a double take once they heard what sound treatments can do for studios with rectangular shapes. The rooms were laid out so that achieving a good coverage was a challenge, but the results were very good to excellent. As far as Acoustimac itself, they built and shipped this fairly large order (a full pallet of panels) in just a couple of weeks. I arrived to find the pallet ready to unpack, securely strapped with cardboard reinforcements. No panels were damaged although the straps did leave some minor compression on a few of the outside edge panels. Most of this has disappeared as we hung them on the walls and they could decompress. I like the construction design of the panels as they are fairly light, even large panels such as 5' x 4', and one person can do the installation of smaller panels without problems. We used the classic Corning 703 for stiffness on the interior insulation. Many people avoid this kind of acoustic fix for studios because they believe it will be hideously expensive and won't provide much benefit but this kind of surface treatment placed after construction can definitely improve audio performance enormously and at a modest cost. While not the same as custom built wall systems it provdes a very audible improvement. Michael L&R Broadcast Services LLC
