I recently purchased a Tourbillon Escapement kit from Tindie. This was made from 3d-printed parts and the instructions suggested using either the enclosed 3D filament or sourced metal pins for the shafts. The 3D filament supplied had a natural curl having been from a reel; so they were totally unsuitable to allow free movement of the pinions and gears etc. Scale Model Shop to the rescue! The brass rods were easy to cut to size and file slightly (using my Dremel as a Lathe!) and the mechanism runs smoothly. I may purchase another kit and alter it from press-fit to a more accurate machine screw build, but it is a fun mechanism.
