Took my mum and elderly Auntie to whitehaven Aldi, OMG what a horrible experience, rude staff and when trying to complain to the manager she is just as ignorant. Tills going to fast for elderly the young man on the till was just as ignorant as the rest of them, learn some manners. It's ridiculous, we will stick to asda from now on. No point in complaining to customer service as they take no notice. They will aAll stick together.

Sorry, but I do not understand your review of three stars and then go on to complain bitterly about the store and staff. Surely it should have been one star, the minimum. I also do not understand anyone who shops there. Nasty cheap low quality food items (that's why it is cheap), untidy layout of stores and those rocket propelled checkouts. Why is it that people put up with the latter? Go at your own pace, and if they complain to you then complain to the store manager and the company themselves. They won't take any notice of course (they never do) but at least you did it. It is not the customers fault that checkout staff MUST scan a certain amount of items per shift/hour. If you are elderly it makes no difference whatsoever. The same pace applies to anyone irrespective of age. Does it say much for the company? Not anything nice it doesn't.

SHOCKING SHOPPING EXPERIENCE, On the 1st feb 2018, I called into Whitehaven Aldi for a few things, it came to £8.27, I handed over a £20 note, I know it was definitely a £20 because that's all that was in my pocket, got the change and receipt for a £10 so I said you have give me change and receipt for £10 but I give you £20. So he got the manager and closed the till, they went into the office to count the till to see if it was a tenner over, surprise surprise he came back (on his own, Manager no where to be seen) to say the till was right, I must have give him a £10 note. I know for a fact it was a £20 note because I only had a £20. They made me feel like I was telling lies, I left the shop £10 down through no fault of my own. I got home and contacted customer services, Cutting along story short, they got back to me the next day, they supposedly contacted whitehaven Aldi and the tills were balanced, so nothing they can do, BUT I know I definitely give them £20 and got change for £10, I suggested to them to look at there cameras, if I had been a criminal and stolen something it would be on camera so why wouldn't me handing a £20 note over not be on camera, But they said nothing can done. I will never set foot in there again.

I went into the Dover store today, seeing as how lots of people seem to, and was appalled at everything.Untidy layout of the store with rows of what seemed to be junk items for sale. You know, like cycling stuff, dodgy tools and bed linen. Bit like like their cheap low quality food items really. What got me was that at the checkout I watched as a man complained to the guy working on it about the speed he was going. The operator got quite annoyed about his moan. Really? What a darned cheek. I didn't buy anything as I am not that way inclined. The food is cheap but I would sooner pay more and get quality.

Nothing has changed at all. same dreadful checkouts (go your own pace) sell by dates etc on fresh produce in code you need to look up online to make sure you know what you are buying (write them down). Nasty little stores all round and terrible quality food products designed for those on low incomes. Nothing wrong with that for them but just thought I would mention it. Not all all elderly friendly checkouts. Go your own pace folks and not theirs.

Still bad quality and still those almost illegal checkouts!! Do not go there if elderly or a little bit slow, and watch out for those pallets.

In spite of all the bad reviews it seems people are oblivious to it all. Why? Who knows. I went into the Dover branch again the other day and nothing had changed at all. Still the dreadful checkouts, still the staff rushing goods over their scanners, still the frayed tempers because of it, but still they keep coming. It cannot be because of good quality because that is something it is not. My advice, after reading a recent tale of woe regarding checkout speed is this.... simply keep your speed down as you take your stuff off. Pack it where you are and not on the packing bar. If it keeps going onto the floor let it go there and ask to see the manager and complain. To the best of my knowledge there is nothing saying you must pack elsewhere, and even if there were so what. I am of the opinion that Aldi are doomed in the long run in Dover, losing out to the excellent new Lidl store down where B&Q was, if it has gone yet.

After discussions with my daughter we have come to the decision that we no longer wish to shop at Aldi. The service we get is very poor. After speaking twice to checkout staff about slowing down we realise that this is not going to happen. We like to put our food into our bags at the checkout but have been told that the staff are not paid to take their time as they need to be elsewhere in the shop as well, so we have to put it into our bags on the bench. Ok I accept that but do they need to go so quick that food flies off the end onto the floor? This has happened a few times and they just carry on regardless.I see from other review that others have complained about this too.I quite liked shopping in Aldi because you got what you went for and did not overspend. We will now return to shopping at Asda where at least staff listen to you and ask if you need help packing. Please will you send a copy of this e mail to the Metro Centre, Gateshead branch.

Generally scruffy and quality of fruit and vegetables is appalling - look as if they have been left to moulder for days. Some of the chicken is not that fresh either. Entrance passage way completely blocked by half-dead vegetation and when I have complained about this previously it has improved for a week or so and then gone back to its awful, cluttered looking usual stance. Staff on tills are always talking to someone else on their devices and not noticing customers which makes for total annoyance, as far as I am concerned. Overall my two stores nearest to me could both do with a thorough ON-GOING clean and PL:EASE, a tidying up.

Not as good as Lidl though for quality and cleanliness. Aldi are on a downward slope I think unless they pull their socks up.

I see that at last people are beginning to realise that Aldi are not all that they are made out to be. Vote with your feet and stay away. Go elsewhere for better quality.

Okay folks. Aldi. What is wrong with their stores. Easier to ask what is right with them. Today is Xmas eve 2017. It is Sunday. I made my way to the Dover store and was surprised that it was not all that busy. Hmmm, most likely because of the massive new Lidl store opened up here. Anyway, I went in there because they were selling Air Fryers.Sadly they didn't have any left. Fair enough, it's Xmas. I never not ever buy anything in there because of their bad quality food items and other things. What really got to me was that as usual there was a member of staff with a huge pallet on a trolley unloading stock and putting it into racks, getting in everyone's way and forcing me to tread onto it. As I did so it moved quickly and I almost lost my balance. What if it had been someone elderly with not so good balance. Shame on you Aldi in this particular store, but it is not uncommon to find this in there. Wouldn't you have though they would do all the shelf filling before the store opened? Anyway, I have had my say, which is honest and not management inspired!!

Wouldn't you have thought that this company would have made an extra effort at Christmas? Not so. Popped into my local one only to find nothing had changed at all.Still the same cheap, bad quality food for those unfortunate enough who need to shop there. Nothing wrong with that I guess but please, don't think you are getting any bargains because you are not. I too have been in Aldi stores in the Netherlands and they are the same there too. I simply cannot recommend anything they sell, no matter how hard I try. As someone else has said, when it comes to cheap food it means low quality. I agree with that. Oh, I also agree that checkouts are a joke, but in Aldi's favour so are many others. That's all I have to say apart from,as another reviewer has stated, ignore the company reviews by staff!!

Expensive prices and poor product range, staff are not always helpful. So if you don't currently use them then make sure you don't. Oh, and will whoever it is please stop making false reviews. It really does make things look much worse for this company.

Most people know that Aldi offers poor value for money. It would be nice if their customer service was good but sadly....no it isn't. Come on Aldi. Do better, and make it easier for disabled and the elderly.

Top prices is correct to be sure. Top prices for bad quality isn't it. Cheap inferior quality is in fact high prices. Dover eh. Lidl? Will try them next week then.
