Pathetic customer service from BG african call centre.. last 4 since we joined BG we don't have electricity to our place, last 4 days calling BG for engineers visit but they keep asking silly questions like electricians visit paper work, then said you need to call local distributor, till now no electricity to our home or BG did not even bother to send engineer out.. its mind boggling to see the way billion dollars company treating their customers...

Trying to get a answer about electricity 56p standing charge. A vast increase. Compared to 30p for gas. But can't get a answer. Brilliant

I am recently bereaved and trying to explain that the bank account the direct debit has come from is closed. I am expected to shout with someone in a noisy call centre! I cannot hear myself think! This is no way to treat people. I will just wait for them to post their demands out to the person who has died now!

Avoid at all and every cost. If you move into a new house and you inherit them, move immediately. Take pictures of your meters on the day you move in and document every single call. Massive thing to beware of, if they say they have cancelled a bill, they haven't really - they call it cancelling but actually will just hit you with it a bit further down the line. The most awful, unscrupulous organisation I have ever dealt with. The customer service is non-existent. They will tell you a different thing every time you call. I could literally not warn people off enough about this company.

I have had 18 months of absolute hell with British Gas, I've had to pay over £1,000 due to there mistakes, I've spoken to people who have absolutely no idea what they are doing, I've gone into food poverty because of British Gas, I had a complete breakdown and my mental health has really suffered. I recently moved house and as you can imagine I was desperate to leave British gas, I submitted 3 meter readings that they stated they had not received! Ringing another country doesn't help as the staff clearly haven't been given the skills to take something as simple as a meter reading down. I left them in May, and paid over what I owed them as I was charged an extra two weeks, plus arrears that there incompetence had coursed and yesterday they took a full payment out of my account for gas and electric for a property I had left in MAY! I just can not cope with anymore from them. They have left me in a terrible place with my mental health and still things are not resolved.

Keep away from them very expensive and manipulative and extortionate I had a very bad experience Once my contract finished they put me on out of contract and they charged almost £500 a month instead of £130 Not recommended at all

I have just had a cold call from you and the man said he wanted to set up a call to discuss our gas needs. I explained that it was my husband that deals with the gas and electricity and that we had recently changed suppliers. He totally ignored me and asked when I wanted a call then hung up on me when I said it was my husband he would need to talk to. He interupted my business call with that and to just hang up was incredibly rude. I wasn't rude to him so expect the same back. Won't be swapping to British Gas any time soon if that is how your employees treat people.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with British Gas. Despite not being a current customer, adverse credit markers were incorrectly placed on my file without any prior notice or communication. This action, based on outdated details from a previously settled account, has severely impacted my credit score and caused the postponement of my new mortgage. While I was initially assured that the matter was being addressed, weeks have gone by with no resolution. I recently received a notification stating that the case has been closed, yet the issue remains unresolved. The incompetence of British Gas staff throughout this process has left me no choice but to escalate the matter to the ombudsman and seek legal advice. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and accountability displayed by British Gas. I hope no other customer has to endure such a frustrating experience.

Ok if U don't have a problem but if U do get through to a foreign call center where staff are useless can't sort out problems say they will phone U back and they don't terrible customer service

Had a complete new system installed. Great salesman with great promises. Was told it would take two engineers four days to complete. Install day came one engineer arrived I asked where the other one. I don’t like working with anyone else he said. So he started. 7 days later still going. Floors butchered brand new kitchen cupboard basically hatched light fitting smashed. Can safely say this was turning into a disaster. On fill up day my god I have never seen Dutch a sh*t show water flooding out of the hall ceiling and one of the bedrooms at this stage I had been in touch with the regional British Gas manager complaining. I am now nearly four months on and still having issues. Water hammer issues. Finishing imperfections. In my honest opinion I would not use British Gas if my depended on it

Had my boiler installed yesterday the engineer was fantastic apart from tea and biscuits he did an 11 hour day so friendly and courteous cant praise him high enough

Went from scottish electricity to british gas. Yes, I did get me a good deal, but was very short Lived. after 2 months. Their prices was more than Scottish electricity. 2 times I took off work saying they were gonna come out and do some maintenance smart meters when they didn't not even a phone call to say they wasn't coming out. After negotiations i got a reasonably good deal.Soon after a month, it will go back to what they Disagreed.. Sick of ringing up on the phone for ages, going over the same stuff again. I wasn't happy with Scottish electricity prices. But they were reasonably good at customer services and not trying to rip people off every 2 minutes.. Since then, I've moved over to octopus electricity. They been ever so great and no regret.. Just like this, country British again. Least, they've got the name right....

I paid by direct debit and faithfully increased or lowered my payments as recommended by them. I regularly checked my balance in the app and it always looked good. I recently decided to move to another supplier and had to wait over 5 weeks for final bill (this is the max time allowed by law) only to be presented by a bill for 600 pounds. It turns out that my recommended amount to pay was underestimated by BG and the app was not showing owed money. If i hadnt changed supplier would i eventually have been in debt by thousands before they let me know. Incidently the person i spoke to was understanding but unable to help. I paid in full as im an honest person , but this should never have occured.

I rang British gas today they wouldn't help me at all they lie alot say they will help but when you call its know I offer to pay a small amount they didn't want to know don't believe anything they say as long as there doing there job and getting paid for it that's all there bothered about they make me sick I've told them I've gone to step change there not bothered they just want there money they think money grows on trees I haven't got 300hundread pounds to pay a month I offer them 40pounds no they said

The service from British Gas has been highly frustrating. Despite installing solar panels, my bills have increased by over 600%. I've been trying to resolve the issue for the past two months by calling British Gas, but each time, I am just transferred to different departments with each saying they can't help me, and it feels like I'm talking to a robot. Also, I was promised someone would look into this issue for me, yet my details have been passed to a debt collection agency, and I'm being harassed.

Absolutely horrific service from British Gas once again, I am SICK to death of nobody listening no matter what you ring for, if il don’t get my £49 refund what I was meant to get a few months ago, am taking yous to court!

British gas are absolutly terrible. I have been overcharged for a long time. I do not use over £4000 worth of electricity in one day!!!! or £400 worth every month for six months. I have been trying for nearly a year now and they will not sort it out. It must be the very worst company in the world. I am only using electric as there is no gas supply and live alone. I use very little electric. My meter is faulty which they have admitted but will not correct it. Two engineers have been to look at it but will do nothing. When I call BG about it they say they will call back but never do. They are a total RIPOFF!!

Took more than should on DD. Spoke with team and they were very robotic and repeated same thing over and over. Emailed to complaints - same thing happened. No apology for debiting my bank account and putting me into arrears. Customers are just numbers, not people.
