“Do not use this company. Having been given what was a rather shoddy looking car, the clutch broke within 48 hours (after less than 4 hours driving), rendering the vehicle undrivable and nearly causing a fatal collision on a very busy A road.
After being pushed onto the verge by the Police, I contacted customer service to organise recovery. Rather than empathy or concern, the customer services representative suggested that I was responsible for 'breaking the clutch'. I have nearly 30 years driving experience of manual cars and have never worn out a clutch.
After promising recovery within 90 minutes, the breakdown services took more than three hours to arrive. I was told by the "customer service" representative on the phone that if I wanted a working replacement car I would have to be towed to Luton Airport (which is not where I rented the car from) and wait for a full diagnosis of the broken down car. Nine week later this has still not been done - I'd still be waiting in their Luton branch.
This 'offer' was not an option for me as I was on my way to pick up my terminally ill mother to take her to Wales for her last family holiday. So I had to ask a friend to drive from Norwich to pick me up and take me to London where, at further expense, I had to hire a car from another provider (SIXT - they are very good. Try them instead.)
More than eight weeks later and following dozens of emails, phone calls and online requests, Easirent has still not provided a report on the clutch or a full refund. On July 7th, the area manager David Hoffman promised me a report was forthcoming yet nothing has materialised.
I have never ever written about a company on this before but I do not want anyone to give this shambles of a company any money or endure the awful experience that I have,
Do not use them and please warn others.”

“After renting a car and paying the initial "final" fee I was greeted with an additional fee that was 100% of the original cost, that is supposedly payable at the counter. After filling out the online check-in form and navigating back to the page the fee went up to 130% of the original cost.
I would be lying if I said I didn't expect anymore additional fees.”
“It has been a nightmare. The Queensaway location, doesn't have anyone there to talk to and when you call the costumer service number, none answers for 15/20 minutes. One of the people who answered actually swore at the phone, cause I was asking too many information.
They requested necessary documents to rent the car 20 minutes before the pick up, which delayed my rental of 1 hour and half, cause I had to go back home to get them. They asked £1.500 of deposit if you have a credit card( never mentioned before). In case you have a debit card they make you pay £35 more for renting the basic car. So they ruined my weekend and they charged me £120 for 20 h rental, because at the end they wanted the car back at the time I was supposed to get it, don't even the flexibility to leave it to me at the exact time I got it, till the next 24h. Moreover the tank was left below half and I had to stop at the petroil station to fill it and the car was disgustingly dirty and we are in the middle of a pandemic.Disgusting scammers, never more in my life!!”
“My wife arrived at the Easirent portakabin in Stansted to collect her car off a flight from Edinburgh. She had flown to London to take our daughter to her first chemo. The terms of her booking state that arrivals not via the airport must show a paper copy of a utility bill. However my wife arrived via the airport. The booking agent refused to accept this, refused even a photo or email of a utility bill, and refused to release the car to her. My wife was very lucky to find another car at much higher expense. They caused great distress on an already very distressing and worrying day. Not only this, but I have since learned that there was a colleague in the office of the booking agent and when he saw my wife walk in he said to the agent "What are you going to do about this one then?". I have also learned that the agent tried a number of other technicalities to refuse my wife's booking before he resorted to the utility bill ruse. This has led me to believe that there was in fact no car available for my wife and the agent was trying to get rid of her. If this is true, then the agent has stored up for himself a lifetime of bad karma”

“Spent 90 minutes trying to start the remote collection rental. Key collection pod impossible to find. No email stating requirement to upload various documents to the poorly designed website. No guidance on DVLA code palaver. Having to upload documents and make multi thousand payments on my smartphone on the morning of collection with no assistance. Never again.”
“The most horrible costumer service ever.. They don’t care about there clients..
Multiple call no body answered and when they told they just told me that they didn’t care that my flight was delayed and if I was not there 2 after after my pick up time my reservation was cancelled.”
“AVOID AT ALL COSTS THAT RENTAL CAR in Ft. Myers, FL !!! Its ripp off and SCAMERS. Dont be glad to see any deals online, you will be ripped off when you come there to pick up a car. We should read theirs review before we rented a car. I said them, that they are the worst rental car and personels I ever seen in my life.”
“I wouldnt agree that Easyrent.ie is a rip off.ive rented several times from this company and they have been always good to deal with and efficient.always got my deposit refund etc.i'd recommend this rental car company.”
“Orrible service, 45 min before they were ready to give us the car, nobody there, to check the car for damage whit us before we leave the garage and when we return the car (12 hours before the rent expired) we check again for damage and we leave the car in same condition as we get it. After one week they charge me 283 pound for a damage on the car and when I asked for more information and pictures of the damage they didn't answer anymore. Terrible call service with no answer and when they answer they hang up the phone.
Now I understand why they got 1.1 stars on trustpilot.
Stay away from this company!!”
“SCAMMERS....stay away, don't be tempted by cheap internet search, you will pay more in the end. The worst experience hiring a vehicle I ever had, by a long way.
- Arrived at the appointed time, no shuttle bus sent until I had someone call them with a local SIM card.
- When I collected the vehicle I expected to pay the online reservation amount with the excess option etc. selected already. The person I collected from had offered some extra insurance to reduce the excess, which I declined. When I then paid by credit card the total had came up as £448 additional, which I queried and was assured it was a deposit. I was not given a copy of the invoice.
- I was checking how to return the car at the end of the hire out of hours and noticed the invoice breakdown online, showing a payment element for 'Relax Zero' which they confirmed was a daily insurance charge, that the agent decided to add.....the £448 and not refundable.
- Returning the car even was a problem. Out of hours meant dropping at an airport hotel car park, leaving the key there and getting a taxi to the airport.
- The complaint procedure is all online and you may expect a reply in 6 months....seriously.
Save yourself a nightmare and rent from anyone else but these scam artists. I only wish I'd read the reviews first as it's clearly their strategy to screw people over.”
“I strongly suggest anyone considering Easirent to reconsider.
Many people use comparison sites to find the best deal when renting a car and if Easirent operate in the location you are searching for there's a very good chance they will be the cheapest.
But they are cheap for a reason. The cars will generally be a bit older (which is OK) but will often be dirty and have many dents and scratches. If you do rent a car from them, before you sign the paperwork do a walk around video using your phone in high resolution and in good lighting so you have something to fall back on later. EVERY little mark on the car should be recorded on the paperwork before you sign. They also save money by not training their staff who I have found to be extremely rude and unprofessional.
I know a lot of people have had problems with deposits not being returned but actually I never experienced this and always had the money held on a pre-authorisation and never physically taken from my account. Maybe I was lucky.
My main concern with this company is the customer service both at the hire location and head office. I have had an ongoing problem with them for literally months which I cannot get resolved which is hugely time consuming and frustrating.
Which is why for me, I would prefer to pay a few pounds more and use a reputable company to hire a car from. I have never had problems with the major companies.
One final thing, if you search this company on Companies House in the UK you will find they are in Administration but still trading. This should ring alarm bells for anyone that is requested to hand over a large deposit as there is a very good chance you will never see it again.”
“I booked a van on 25th November 2020 for a house move scheduled on 6th December 2020 securing it with a deposit which the advisor insisted on. The day before my house move, Saturday 5th December, I received a text from Easirent informing me that my booking was cancelled and couldn't offer an alternative vehicle.
It is now 5 weeks later and my £69 deposit still hasn't been refunded. I have attempted to contact "Customer Services" many times over the past month but only managed to get a reply 3 times. Each time I managed to get through the agent was less than helpful... Firstly, they argue that Easirent doesn't take deposits for which I have to prove that I made the payment from my credit card statement. Secondly, they argue that I cancelled the booking not them. After they look at their notes and accept that they cancelled the booking I am told that there is nothing they can do and I have to wait until it is processed!
I still have no idea when or even if I will get my money back.
Unprofessional and unhelpful, I feel like I've been scammed. My advice would be to steer well away from this organisation, they have caused me no end of problems and frustration. A real bunch of cowboys!”
“Absolutely money-grabbing company when it comes to returning deposits. Takes months. I have rented cars for forty years often twelve times in a year and I used this company once before and never again. Not worth the hassle when you have to be bussed off-site, never mind the waiting and phone calls. I like to give all companies a fair crack of the whip, in the case of these chancers across the back they would get it.”
“Look, just accept the fact that this is a chancer company. Still waiting since the 5th of November for return of deposit 2100.00. Never let this lot of the hook if they deduct money for damage, stay on their backs and demand to see repair bill and cost. Remember they cannot charge what they want. Rules and regs. Make sure you photo car, inside and out. Let the world know your opinion of this Easirunt company.”
“Rental in Fort Lauderdale. We missed our rental because of the difficulty getting to the car rental. You have to take a second CITY bus to get to the rental. It was late at night, didn't seem safe and I couldn't lift my 50# bag onto the bus. Upon pulling up their website, they have a UK phone number. Well, I don't have an international plan to call. So, we decided to get a rental from another company. They will not refund the money because we did not cancel 6 hours in advance. Now, I understand policies but this is ridiculous. If you are going to use this company in FLL, make sure you know that you have to take a CITY bus to get there and don't prepay.”
