My credit card had been stolen and i was waitning for another one so only had debit cards which they refused to accept. the only way I could get the car I had booked and paid for via rental.com (who are brilliant by the way) was to pay for full insurance (even though I had my own policy). I wasuneasy about it but she said it was £150 and considering the effort to get home I decided to take it. She didnt give me a receipt. I asked her for it and she said it would be on the seat of the car. There were a bunch of papers there, but when I got home and looked there was everything except the receipt. I didn't think anything of it but checking my account a couple of day later she had taken a wopping £297!!! she had deliberately lied twice and also failed to send me anything by email because she had deliberately (in my view and considering the story) written down the wrong email too!! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT i CALLED WAS NO BETTER EITHER SAYING, WELL YOU NEEDED A CAR SO THATS WHAT YOU HAD TO PAY! I have complained and although it says they will answer within 14 days ...guess what, no response whatsoever. I am going to take them to court. DO NOT USE EASIRENT

Do not use this company under no uncertain terms despite their low pricing. I booked hire car via booking.com for a collection today, Saturday 1st August, from the Aberdeen Airport based at the Marriot Courtyard Hotel, for 3 days. Money was deducted from my account of £59.43 ( covers booking in full). I ‘checked in online’ providing all details on Thursday and called the Easirent branch direct on Friday evening to confirm the booking. I arrived to collect the car today at 1015. I had a long wait as there was a queue which was not helped by the easicar representative trying to sell additional easicar insurance products to customers which they obviously did not need. When I did get to desk, I was informed no car was available as the car earmarked had a fault. I was offered a very large Transporter van as only alternative (we were on a family holiday so this was not an option). There was little by way of apology. I was even offered a run in the car to hear fault for myself. I was informed that Easicar were looking after my safety. I would categorically state that providing a safe vehicle should not be even a discussion point and they were certainly not doing me a favour by not giving me an unsafe car. I set out my expectation, I had a confirmed and paid booking and that Easirent was a contractual obligation to provide a vehicle but there was no movement whatsoever from the branch manager and it was obvious the stance was ‘No vehicle, go away please’. There was no assistance at all, no alternative offered and no advice. I asked why I couldn’t be called earlier in morning to tell me there was no vehicle ( I waited and sat on a bus for over an hour to collect the car). I was told that you 'shouldn’t have booked via a 3rd party' and 'this is beyond my control'. I had actually checked in online to Easirent portal and provided all details to Easirent including phone numbers. Surely hire car companies anticipate faults and have backup. I asked if easicar would arrange a vehicle with another company to meet their obligations. 'I cannot do that' was response. There was nothing offered from easicar whatsoever. I was dismayed at this point and stranded at an airport hotel with no vehicle and plans in disarray . We had tickets booked for Edinburgh Zoo at 1300 on Saturday and then a booking at a Chester zoo Hotel. At this short notice there was little car hire availability and hire costs were much increased. I was able to hire a car and got keys at 1230. However, our plans were now in disarray with money lost on bookings made. I cannot begin to express my disappointment, frustration and disgust with easicar. A Hire Car company must expect car faults or non-returns. There must be a backup option and there must be an alternative option or advice to help individuals. It cannot be a ‘tough, you booked via a 3rd party’. For information, I attempted to call Easicar and Booking.com customer service numerous time today but to no avail and failed to get through to any person to discuss matter. I still do not have a refund nor had any communication with easicar or booking.com. Reference 652951413

I'm totally aware that life is difficult for car hire companies at the moment but that doesn't excuse Easirent's 'couldn't care less attitude'. Just like the review from Alan below, I am owed a £1,600 deposit refund from Easirent. I rented a car for almost 3 months and dropped it off on 29th June. Refunds are supposed to be processed within 72 hours according to the company's website. On ringing Easirent's customer care to find out when I was going to get a refund I was told they didn't know. I asked whether it would be next week, next month or next year - the answer was 'it won't be next week'. While I am paying interest on the £1,600 Easirent deposit, Easirent are earning interest on MY money. I need this deposit back urgently. I asked the customer service agent if I could talk to someone in accounts. I was told the accounts department wasn't dealing with refunds - very odd. I asked if there was any one else I could speak and was told 'no'. Surely there is more than one person in the whole of Easirent who is dealing with customers. Most disturbed to see in the review below that Alan has already been waiting for his refund for 8 weeks. I've used Easirent many times but I will never use them again.

Guys this company is a criminal association. We rented the car at Gatwick Aiport. when we got back at the established time the place was closed, no key dropbox was available, nobody was answering at our phone calls, we were forced to call the police who told us to keep the car with us. Finally we were able to speak to Easirent the day after , they told us to bring back the car - we leave far away from London so basically we had to spend one day to make up their crazy mistake. Even though they told us we were not going to be charged ( I thought that given the circumstances this should have been out of question) the week after they took 100 pounds without notice from my bank account. Because we took the car one extra day !!!! despite the fact that we actually brought back the car but it was not possible to deliver it to them. After numerous calls they said they were going to refund us . After one month no refund has been made. We had a nightmare time . They are rude criminal liars and I hope somebody will take them to court and close their business . I do not have money and time to do it but that is what should be done, especially when one reads that my situation is so similar to other hundreds. Thank you for the attention.

I rented a car for 1 month from Heathrow. They took £1,600 deposit from my account which was payable back to me 72 hours after return of vehicle. They have now had this £1,600 for 8 weeks. I would NEVER rent a car from this Company again

Booked via Easirent website "chat," paying a deposit of 349.11 pounds. The only documentation of the booking I received from Easirent was an e-mail titled, curiously, "Vehicle rental reservation changes to booking number XXXXXX" (VRRCBNX). This contained no address for Easirent. It did contain a list of bus services and bus stops at Heathrow, but these were not easy to find after travelling for about 20 hours from Taiwan. It also mentioned a free bus service, but stated, "It is important to show the bus driver your rental voucher which has the start date clearly printed as well as our company logo." The VRRCBNX contained no company logo. We took a taxi, costing almost 20 pounds, and consulted Google for the Easirent address. We and our taxi driver struggled to find Easirent. When we finally arrived, no member of Easirent staff greeted us at the entrance or told us where to go to transact business. There was no signage visible to supply such information. I was shown by another exasperated customer into the office in which bookings were being processed. I saw two men standing behind two counters, one at either end of the room. I made eye contact with each of them and presumed that one or other of them would understand I needed assistance; the procedure remained unclear and, once again, there was no signage visible to make it clear. I was left standing for several minutes. Neither of the two men bothered to say anything to me. After several minutes, I felt that I had no choice but to approach one of the counters and present the document "Vehicle rental reservation changes to booking number XXXXXX." I duly did so, saying to the employee, 'There is no address on this.' He screamed at me, 'This is not a booking voucher.' As this first employee screamed at me, he also signalled to his colleague at the other end of the room, who started asking me questions about my booking from his end of the room and in an offensive and sarcastic tone. When this second employee (a white, native English-speaking caucasian, like myself) had finished asking me questions, he approached me and said to me, 'Now you're just being racist.' I said to him, 'What do you mean? I haven't said anything to you at all, let alone anything racist.' He responded, 'I know, but I'm South African.' I was appalled by what he had said and by the possible implications, and therefore made a point of informing those around us in the room of his remarks, whereupon one of his colleagues said, 'He's not South African; he's Australian.' I made the point that I simply wished to collect my car and leave. The second employee shouted, "Don't give this man a car." I responded, "If you're not going to give me a car, I require a written statement from you that my deposit will be refunded." He said, "Do not give this man a car. Do not refund his deposit." He gave no reason. Weeks later, though without my being notified, my deposit was in fact refunded. Two days after my return to Taiwan, about a month after the incident, I filed a demand, via the complaints procedure on Easirent's website, for reimbursement of my deposit and of various losses consequential on Easirent's cancellation of my booking. Easirent did not respond, and, in accordance with their procedure, I filed the demand again. Again they did not respond. Again in accordance with the formal complaints procedure, I therefore "escalated" my grievance to the industry governing body, the BVRLA, who responded, "We understand that when you arrived at the branch discussions took place which then resulted in you not receiving the vehicle you had pre-booked, we hope you can appreciate we are unable to comment on these conversations. However, Easirent have advised that you were refunded your pre-paid amount of £349.11 in full." I was not accused of anything, either by Easirent or the BVRLA.

Car Rental in Cork, Ireland: Avoid as much as you can, it's a real scam. I rented this Van for the good price they offered without thinking they had to make up for the money somehow. Once you enter their office, first thing you see is all the charges for the damages, they even charge for the smallest scratch ever (other companies consider small scratches wear and tear...). Prices to repair are ridicolous, as an example they charge for a tyre the same price 4 tyres would cost. Regarding my experience, I collected the Van at 6PM in the dark (they have no lights) and I had to use the torch of my phone (while it was raining so much) to check it. Their employee checked it too and he did not even see a flat tyre which I had to tell him. When I returned the van (rented it for 2 days, drove it 20miles), their employee checked the van in less than 3 minutes and found 3 damages in 3 different parts of the van by going straight to where the damages were found such as chipped windscreen near the wipers (coincidence?!?! Especially seeing many people being charged for the same? Is it so easy now to chip it?), a small scratch in the back door (at an height that you can only do it by hand) and the back door was all worn and listen: a cut in the the tyre but.... The tyre was worn already!!! They initially wanted to charge over 1k but in the end they charged 650e (200e for the tyre, 250 for the windscreen, 150e for the scratch and 50e for one day off road)just because they could repair the windscreen. Avoid this company as much as you can if you don't want to end up like me.

Stay away! They just want as much money from your credit card. Deposits, several times. Even 6 months after the rental (I rented with full insurance too). They're not responding to any emails.

Keep away from the plague called easirent. Waste of time and money. Prices are cheap, but you pay twice or three times up to 100 times the offered price. They don’t have cars or vans and try to push on you what is available even if it doesn’t fit your requirements. Do not be fooled into driving to another branch to pick up a van or car, you will be surprised what you will find. Don’t be fooled by the cheap prices. I will not rent again from easirent.....

We recently rented a car in the UK. We missed a toll and had a fixed penalty notice of £22 issued by the local authority, which the company paid. Easirent then contacted us to let us know that the situation and that they would be charging the £22 back to us, plus an additional £55 'Administration Fee' for the privilege. Yes, it is written in the rental agreement (in very fine print) that this fee applies however, in my opinion this is an absolute scandal. I called the Customer Care line to ask what is the justification for this additional charge and the rep. on the phone stated that their penalties department deal with 'hundreds of claims like this daily' and 'can't expected to work for free'. The rep. also stated that an equivalent fee for an equivalent offense in their Irish branch costs €10 (or £8.75 approximately). Suffice to say I will never deal with this company again and will make it my business to warn as many people I can to avoid Easirent.

Like most folks I was 'reeled in' by low advertised daily rate. On arrival at desk at Glasgow depot the sales guy gave his pitch on 'optional' insurance wavers to reduce excess on any claim. I declined stating I was a very experienced professional driver. Ok then he says, in that case we need to take £1800 deposit! What?! Who has a spare £1800 on credit card these days. If I wanted car without this deposit I had to agree to 'optional' insurance. In short 4 day hire advertised at £88 cost over £180. Oh another trick. Have the salesguy actually check the fuel guage in sight of you. Tank marked full and only after driving out of yard noticed it good bit less. Strikes me this company have replicated the shady business model of those hire companies that sting you on your holiday at the airport. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! p.s. would not have given a single star if that was an option to give a review.
