“Putting the customer first. What a joke.
After a drunk woman took the front corner off my car whilst parked I obviously claimed. I gave a full statement and even gave details of a witness who gave his details at the time.
After months of messing me around and not giving me a straight answer as to what was happening with the claim and when I would get my excess back I received a letter from Admiral stating that they had tried to ring me and couldn't get hold of me so they settled the claim in favour of the third party. When I called them minutes afterwards they claimed they knew nothing of it. Then they denied ever having my contact details, which incidentally were printed on my statement of insurance which they posted to me at my home address. They also sent a copy to my email.
So they had that too.
However as I could not afford to employ a legal rep at the time I could not progress my claim against them. So I have ended up paying for their incompetence for the last 4 years.
Thanks a lot Admiral. For absolutely nothing.”
“I was fast asleep in bed on the 6th night of June 2015 when I was woken by metal on metal at a loud volume below our bedroom window .
The offender drove off in great haste , our lovely caring police decide not to come out when I phoned them. The operator told me to ring 101 who put the phone down on me .
The local police commissioner response was to " lose" the transcript of the recorded message . Yes really !
The offender wrote off our Canadian visitors hire car. ( most of the loud noise )The offender took out the back corner of my own vehicle on his way to the hire car. Luckily I was insured with Admiral . I reported what had happened and set in the repairs job in motion.
However unfortunately my insurance with Admiral needed renewing a few days later so they kindly doubled my premium .
Very caring ! Very understanding !
It is only beaten as poor service by Allianz our house insurers ! ( yes the house was damaged by pushing hire car in to a bay window .
Their service beggars belief !”
“When I replaced my car, which had been insured with Admiral for about 5 months, I called them to provide a quote for my new car. Having provided details of car (make, model cost etc.) I was asked what 'extras' the car had, I asked if she really meant to say 'extras' and not modifications she replied extras; I asked if she needed to know if I had leather rather than cloth seats and to my amazement she said yes. I pointed out that I had just spent a small fortune on this new BMW and the list of 'extras' ran to two pages did she really need me to list everything surely the purchase price was the important factor. I was told she would need a full list otherwise she could not provide a quote, I asked why I wasn't asked for a list of optional extras when I insured the previous car........no response. I told the operative I really couldn't be asked to provide the list she asked for and that I would cancel my insurance with Admiral, it cost me £50.00 to cancel and after writing numerous e-mails to various 'customer service' departments I never received a reply or acknowledgement. In my opinion Admiral are cheats and positively the worst insurance company I have ever had dealings with, not only would I not recommend them but I will make every effort to discourage others from using them.”
“Do not use . Son was parked in my car it was marked car park . I am not with Admiral but he was. When he informed them about being reversed into by someone who admitted fault and that his insurers paid my company the RAC. he was hit with an extra £90 for being honest. The incident did not involve Admiral at all , but they still robbed him.”
“I have just taken a policy out with admiral and spoke to a man called Peter Macqueen he was Canadian and a very polite and helpful man. He was very patience and made us feel very comfortable about taking this policy out. Got an email sent through with all documentation and hopefully going to be a safe 2016. But very impressed. Kalie and James in Surrey!”
“Been with this rabble for 5 years and needed to make a claim when my wife's car was hit from the rear by a commercial vehicle. Dealing with the disinterested, rude and arrogant staff has been nothing short of terrible. They're currently offering me 60% of the market value of my wife's car and although they've cancelled our insurance are refusing to refund the eleven months of unused premium. Do not use this company- they will not pay out fairly!!”
“I got home insurance with admiral. I am so happy with the service. staff are so well. I don't agree with so many negative comment about admiral. as spoken with them many times. staff is really well present and they describe everything.
I would always recommend ADMIRAL !!!!!!!!!”
“We have been with Admiral for years and, of course, it's been fine to the point where we needed to make a claim. Our car was stolen as part of a burglary. After the stress of that and the police confirming they had given up looking for it, we dealt with Admiral's claims team. I can't fault the friendliness and professionalism of the individuals I spoke with, so 2 stars for that. BUT 2 things left us angry and bitter:
Firstly, it took MONTHS to settle the claim, meaning we continued to pay interest on our car finance for ages and meant we were unable to move forward in getting a replacement car. Worst of all though, Admiral use the glass guide to value the car. The Glass guide (we've used this on a tonne of specific car searches) consistently values cars at private and trade levels, under the reality of the market. Admiral don't use the valuation of the trade price, they use the lowest, arbitrary price. This means they don't take in to account the retail mark-up or, simply the reality of what a model is being sold for on the open market.
I gave examples of our exact model and mileage (we had loads of extras/specs as well, but we ignored that) that were priced at at least £4,000 above what they were saying the car was worth. They moved £500, but the reality is that were left with a trifling amount of money and left feeling totally ripped off by Admiral and the industry as a whole. Surely a car, like everything else in the world, is worth what it costs to purchase in the market place - not what some random website/ single organisation says??”
“SLY!!!
Purchased insurance through confused.com. All good until I had letters informing me they wanted an extra £70 for me and my partners speed awareness course. They go back 5 years! How ever on confused it does not say anything about these courses being a conviction it's only when your in the contract they advice you you need to tell them about this. When you try to cancel they then want to charge you a 25 pound fee.
Stay away if you have had one of these courses they will slyly add on a premium if you go through a third party comparison site.”
“Very poor customer service! They are only after your money! I wanted to change my car and adjust my policy accordingly! You would think this is a very simple request until they tried to add an additional £310 to do so! Rather than adjust the policy and repayments and charge me an admin fee they had the cheek to try and charge me £310. It worked out cheaper to cancel my policy, with a £200 charge, and take out a new one. Different departments tell you different things. I have no idea how they can justify such a fee! During my first year of my policy I didn't hear a thing of them nor did they hear anything from me! They don't do anything to justify their fee. They do nothing for their customers!”
“When I made a claim for a minor accident it was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Admiral arranged the repair garage and insurance assessor and the go ahead for the repair was given quickly and executed to a high standard. I was very impressed with the know nonsense process.”
“i paid for my daughters insurance one payment for the year renewal came following year went on comparison site found a cheaper quote phoned admiral and told them wont be renewing etc 3 weeks later letter came you owe us 90 pounds phoned them and exsplained i dont owe anything because i didnt renew with you 4wks later letter from debt company in liverpool its now 120 pounds what a first class bunch of robbing people even dick turpin wore a mask avoid admiral like the plague”
“I was so pleased with the advice I received I went on to purchase another policy later under the multi car scheme. Without speaking to an advisor I wouldn't have realised that my no claims discount couldn't be used on more than one car which potentially could have caused problems later if I had needed to claim.”
“A VERY EFFICIENT AND PAINLESS SERVICE. I TOOK OUT THE ADMIRAL MULTI CAR POLICY AND IT HAS PROVED VERY SIMPLE TO ADD EXTRA VEHICLES.WHEN YOU DO ADD A VEHICLE YOU ARE QUOTED THE PREMIUM UNTIL THE RENEWAL DATE OF THE FIRST VEHICLE, SO THIS MAY ONLY BE FOR A FEW MONTHS AND COULD LEAD YOU TO THINK THAT THE PREMIUM IS VERY REASONABLE. ALWAYS ASK WHAT THE ANNUAL COST OF INSURANCE IS FOR EACH VEHICLE. I AM EXPECTING A FAIRLY HEFTY RENEWAL PREMIUM FOR 3 CARS BUT WILL ASK FOR IT TO BE BROKEN DOWN BY INDIVIDUAL VEHICLE. BECAUSE I ADDED 2 CARS DURING THE FIRST YEAR I WILL HAVE TO WORK OUT WHAT THE ORIGINAL ANNUAL PREMIUM WAS FOR EACH CAR, TO DETERMINE WHAT THE INCREASE HAS BEEN OVER THE FIRST YEAR. I FULLY EXPECT IT TO HAVE INCREASED, IT JUST DEPENDS BY HOW MUCH!!!!!!. WATCH THIS SPACE,AND REMEMBER,. ALWAYS QUESTION ANY INCREASE WHEN THER HAVE NOT BEEN ANY CLAIMS. ALWAYS CHECK WITH GO COMPARE OR SIMILAR FOR "IDENTICAL COVER", TO COMPARE PRICES. THE FIRST YEARS PRICE IS ALWAYS COMPETITIVE, TO GET YOUR BUSINESS!!”
“My car was in an accident while parked, the 3rd party was to blame and I have been waiting 3 months, so far, for admiral to, apparently, retrieve the police report. They have so far been no help and my insurance will no doubt have a mark against it for the rest of my driving career. They make no effort to contact me regarding this matter, my car is still damaged.”
