I have contacted Admiral about my next years Quotation. I have been told they cannot give me this till three weeks before the current quote expires. This is very poor as I wish to compare other quotes, as I have changed one of three cars, and my grandson who owns one of the cars becomes 21 about 5 weeks before the new quote is due. I think this very poor, as other insurance companies usually will quote for 60 days in advance. At this stage unless Admiral are much cheaper I am thinking of changing due to their unhelpful attitude.

I needed to claim because I took a chip out of a walk-in bath. The repair was good and I knew there was a £150.00 excess. I assumed that I would pay that to Admiral and so I waited for a bill. This week I have had a non payment letter from Plastics Surgeon, a Devon based firm. When I rang to find out what had happened I was told by them that Cunningham Lynsey who processed my claim required the repairers to collect the excess directly from me. Since this goes back to last September I am very annoyed because on principal I settle my bills promptly. i am also surprised that the chosen firm is based at the other end of the country from where I live. My lack of Faith in Admiral's agent Cunningham Lynsey will make me less likely to renew my policy later this year. V. West.

Joint car policy for two cars at an excellent premium. Unfortunately they will not include my Land Rover Defender. When my son was over on holiday from Boston at Christmas it was extremely simple, and for a very reasonable premium, to add him to the policy as a named driver for two weeks. I am very pleased overall.

everything was fine with motor insurance. I haven't had to contact them since taking it out, so don't know what customer service would be like.

It wasn't made clear at the start that I needed to provide valuations for 2 specified items until I was so far down the line I had to do it. The first item cost me £60 to value as it was over 3 years old. With the second as my purchase receipt was less than 3 years old but in a foreign currency. However because of currency and other changes the value at today's conversion rate was significantly below the current UK value which I had checked. They consistently argued that they could only value it at the purchase amount converted at the current rate and that if this was insufficient for them to source a replacement in the UK they would give me the cash which would put me in a 'no worse position' - which clearly it would. Only when referred as far as it would go internally (4 escalating call backs from them) did they recognize that this was a flaw in their system as they hadn't received a purchase receipt in foreign currency previously. After this they said they would amend their internal procedures and agreed to insure the item for the amount I had specified. All ended well but was a fair amount of hassle to get it resolved.

The only down side was when taking out the policy I was late submitting my proof of no claims. When the NCB certificate arrived from last insurance company I forwarded it to Admiral, was told it was late and then charged an extra £30 admin charge!! On a positive note, my partner had an accident and the 3rd party made a claim on our insurance. Admiral staff have been excellent, giving clear and concise instruction and advice throughout, resolving the claim in no time at all. .

I took the breakdown cover with the insurer too and used it recently. Their breakdown cover service was very good. Apart from that, I've not done any claims.

No trouble setting up, reasonable cost. Have not had to make a claim so can not say how good or otherwise that side will be (I hope I don't have to put that to the test). So far so good.
