Placed an order online and clicked the free delivery icon. When I received the confirmation it showed that it was click and collect from the store which was a mistake on their website as I had clearly marked for home delivery (why would I drive into into the store when it was free home delivery?). Telephoned customer services and no apology for the mistake on their website ordering but I could cancel the order and order again. That would mean having the hassle of then cancelling my paypal payment. So I decided I would have to go and collect it. I then received a phonecall from the branch that I would be collected the item from to say that they had to cancel my order as they did not have this item in stock as it was an online purchase only. The salesman told me that I could order it and as it was an online only purchase it would be delivered to my home. I questioned with him if it was only an online purchase for home delivery, why then was I able to place an order when the item was out of stock and then only to find that I had to go in and collect it? He said there was a mistake on the website!! Also if this was the case why then when I phone customer service the lady could not give me this information. I asked for my paypal to be refunded immediately (which it was). I thought about purchasing this item from another retailer but I went ahead and ordered it through Halfords where it was now showing as an online purchase only and it would now be delivery free of charge to my home. What a long winded process and they really need to sort out their website and ordering system. I haven't yet received the item so cannot comment on that.

Give the below images a look: So I wanted a dashcam fitting, so I contacted Halfords to see if they would fit it even if I didn't buy it from them. They said they would (Proof in images). So I went ahead and got a Nextbase 222 Front AND Rear from Amazon for £100 (Over £70 cheaper than Halfords). So they basically lead me on and made me pay £100 just to then say then will no longer fit it (As per second image ) I doubt they'll even rely to this review and if they do, it'll be something daft like they'll 'look into it' Come on now Halfords... I asked for compensation or for them to fit it and they ended live chat twice on me and wont admin why haha

DANGEROUS PRACTISES ALERT. My partner handed in her car in for a service, engine clean, and wheel balance cost £234.94. While waiting for the car she received a phone call from this branch to say that there was an excessive oil leak under the bonnet ( fairly typical place for one ), and a pin missing on ' rear brake shoe'. Estimated cost to repair + £600. Ok let's get to the branch and see what the problems were??? Extensive oil leak, couldn't show us as they can't find it???? No evidence of oil leak on the engines, surrounds or ground even, remember excessive??? Then suggesting, they could not fix the oil leak and to take the car to another garage?????? So with all trust and credibility gone, and crystal clear this was a con/scam ( Nationally this company is famous for this), my partner booked into a local, proper garage, she paid for the service and collected the car. Ok this is where things got dangerous:- As soon as she started to drive the car, a loud noise was coming from the rear of the car, which was not there before. Sensing danger, she took the car straight to the proper garage. Findings from the garage:- The 'missing pin on the rear brake shoe' was actually a damaged pin which was clearly caused when the wheel was removed. The car was in a very dangerous, non road worthy state, and should never have been driven or released by any garage. Extensive oil leak does not exist, and some other advisories were phantoms too. Both paperwork from Halfords and the local garage have been passed to the regulators and Halfords head office and investigation is on going.

This review is regarding the online service not the item purchased. A set of car mats was ordered on the 18th April and delivery details indicated it would be here on the 25th April or sooner. On the 26th of April I contacted Halfords (online chat being the only practical option) and I was told the car mats would be with me within 3 days. Within 2 days I received an email from DHL informing me they were expecting the item from Halfords and would let me know when it was on its way. I kept checking DHL but they had still not received it according to their tracking. I contacted Halfords again complaining about the service and started looking for alternative suppliers. The next day my delivery arrived 16 days after being ordered. I have had items from overseas arrive quicker. I wrote a similar review to this which Halfords "moderated" to the point of excluding it!

Mobile battery fit - do not use! Multiple visits were required and still not to a satisfactory outcome without a visit to a Halfords garage which I was trying to avoid by using a mobile service! Poor and inconsistent communication, phone calls promised and never received. Very disappointing from a recognised brand. I would not recommend.

Picked up a bike today from Abbey lane Leicester branch. Not set up properly when i got outside went to ride off and the handle bars swung round. Took it back and the guy who tightened the handle bars mumbled something and another staff member said no worries it's cool. I said no it's not cool i could have broken my neck. Also i had to wait for quite a while to be served and there were plenty of staff behind the counter who could see there was a queue of people waiting. I'm ok with the bike but the service was very poor and i could have been severely injured.

Dear Halfords Thank you finally for the one phone call I was waiting for after 5 months, “That’s all it took” not everybody is seeking personal compensation Halfords. I will after this email honour my end of the agreement in return Halfords make a donation to a Ukraine crisis charity, which I hope you will and if nothing else restore some professional dignity and public trust.

I am taking this opportunity to tell you about the most amazing customer service I have received from the Bike Hut staff at Folkestone, Kent. Around 8 days ago, I had no knowledge of ebikes and although having researched on line, wanted to speak to someone. I visited the store. The staff answered all my questions in detail as well as furnished me with other information to enable me to make an informed decision as to whether to proceed. Upon deciding to go ahead with a purchase, I tried a few different bikes. Being on the shorter side, I was directed to a different frame size which suited me perfectly. Upon ordering I was given advise on lighting requirements which helped me again make a decision on what to purchase. I collected my purchase today. Once again I was treated with the utmost courtesy and respect. I was given a robust handover of how to operate and maintain the bike and battery as well as given storage advise to save the battery and frame life. The staff carried the bike downstairs for me without having to be asked. Overall, I wish to thank the Folkestone staff for their professionalism and outstanding customer focused service.

Placed a click and collect order for an air filter. Visited after 3 days to collect, but it hadn't arrived. and needed 2 more days to arrive. Visited after 3 more days to find that the order had been cancelled with no notification or any other communication from teh company. Will be using the local motor factors for all my future parts needs

Dear Halfords Thank you for your 2 automated replies, In the meantime… !!! Took our car in for 4 new tyres at Halfords ended up with 2 alloy wheels damaged, under-seal ripped off underneath and left dangling, (which according to Halfords was the cars fault? Manager confrontational attitude problem) and to top it all found they had rummaged through the glove box and personal property to find the service manual to check when the next service was due? (Excuse: looking for the wheel nut) was sent down the road to a wheel repair shop who told us it needed a diamond cutter company to repair it? Also: that we were the 3rd car this week with the same problem sent from Halfords. Contacted there head office several times not interested no reply from them at all, what a bunch of cowboys should hold their heads in shame. Spent over 2 days running about / over 100 miles and taken 5 weeks to sort out at another branch and now over 5 months still waiting for them to complete their investigations so they say? Now we have ended up with 2 shiny refurbished wheels and 2 dull ones. Beware people not a professional company with little or no respect of people’s property, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! UPDATE: Dear Reader Matt, Yes they did give our car back not saying a single word about any of the damage? Plus I sorted the underseal out my-self in the end because even with photo evidence still total disrespect and ignorance of the matter.

Had 7 dashcams fitted, 6 went well then No7 was a different ‘technician’ who was immediately phoning for advice about which fuse to piggyback from. 45 mins later my Audi app informs me of a serious fault that requires attention. Audi had to re-wire & fix the issues after 2 weeks with no car. Halfords customer service are pants & not fit for purpose, Trading Standards are next port of call followed by small claims court. My previous 1 star rating has mysteriously disappeared.

Great service from Kim in Naas Halford store. He fitted a battery that I had attempted to do myself. Had it done in a couple of minutes. Made sure it was held firmly in place by bracket. Well worth it. Thanks.
