Bought a bike from halfords last month ended up giving it to my brother, like a idiot i bought another one from the website. Nothing but trouble since cant even get a receipt or a confirmation email. No body wants to help everyone just passed you around and around. The customer service in milend store is awful!!! Told me they would build my bike for free even though its a e-direct bike but because i bought it from halfords it would be free. Now iv actually purchased the bike they want to charge me!!! fuming. will send the bike back and never buy from this shop again

Poor costly service. Having paid for and booked to change a battery (selected by Halfords website) I travelled some distance to the store. Upon arrival at scheduled time, fitters did not have and were unable to source the battery. A total waste of time and petrol. A local competitor fitted the correct battery at less cost. Halfords are not prepared to pay my expenses for a wasted journey. BEWARE. DO NOT USE THIS POOR OUTFIT WHO HAVE NO IDEA OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. PASS THE MESSAGE

WENT TO THE BISHOP AUCKLAND STORE TO PURCHASE A PARTICULAR SIZED SOCKET FOR MY CAR FROM THERE TOOL SECTION WHICH IS ALL IN GLASS CABINETS BUT COULD NOT SEE WHAT I WANTED. WENT OVER TO THE ASSISTANT BEHIND THE COUNTER NEAR THE TOOL SECTION AND ASKED ABOUT THE PARTICULAR ITEM I WAS LOOKING FOR WHO WAS NOT INTERESTED AT ALL AND SAID IF YOU DO NOT SEE IT WE DO NOT HAVE IT AND HE WALKED AWAY. VERY HELPFUL I DO NOT THINK, NO WONDER THE STORE IS EMPTY

A helpful young chap called Nathan fixed my headlamp bulb and took the time to fill the screenwash as well. He was courteous and polite and an asset to Halfords. Keep up the good work Nathan.

My battery failed the day before Christmas Eve. A family member came out and jump started my car and followed me to the braintree store to get a new battery. After a short wait a team member checked the battery type and identified a suitable replacement. Unfortunately after fitting it became apparent the the radio needed a code entering. Now previously at another store on a different car I was told that this would not be necessary as the radio would not be affected due to they fit the battery. But not this time, so no code no radio and no solution offered by halfords. I was told to simply contact my car dealership and they would provide a code. After completing the online request a code was purchased direct from renault, opps it appears the stero was not the original. Giving it some consideration I called halfords customer service team and explained the problem. Followed up with 2 emails and to date no response. I have called today and expressed my concern on the poor service and suggested that it was working before halfords installed new battery and that I had trawled the website for terms and condition and could find no disclaimer reference battery installation. I have been assured a response will be forthcoming. Poor show halfords you should make it clear in your Ts & Cs if you are not going to offer a complete service. Travelling over the Christmas period with no stero not good

I recently requested a headlight replacement in Halfords Hereford. I was offered a charge of 12 pounds to change the bulb and an alternative to cover two bulbs which I declined. The technician then guided me through a complete light check. At first, I thought this was good and helpful. He then started banging on the back of my car. I got out to see what he was doing. He told me that I had a number plate light out, but it came on when he banged my car with his hand. My defences were down, so when he asked if I wanted it replaced at the same time, I said why not. I was taken to the counter to pay and as soon as he indicated to the casher what to charge for, he disappeared as quick as he could. I was charged 27 pounds plus. More than double the agreed price for the headlight to be changed. And I never saw the number plate light unlit. So I didn't know for sure if he was right and I made the mistake of trusting him. Bulbs don't blow like that. They either blow or work. Alarms bell should have rung in my head at the time, but it was leading up to Xmas and I was busy as a consequence. Another review I came across was that Halfords train that you can always find a problem with a car. I have to wonder after this experience whether that may be true. I would recommend keeping your wits about you and only insist on what you know needs to be done. For me the trust has gone and next time, if I ever do go back, I will check all of my other lights first myself.

The most unhelpful, un educated bunch of people I have ever had the misfortune to come across. Aside from PCWorld this company is the most insulting company I have ever come across. I will not be told by any one that I do not know how my car works, especial from someone who asked me what an air filter was.....

Bought bulbs for my car through reserve and collect at Halfords Watford, at 10 times the price of what they cost in amazon, all because of the "service", when i got there, the item was not ready even though i receive a message saying it was. then the girl at the till had no idea how to retrieve the reservation number after waiting for a long time the item was collected and the wait was because they forgot about my order! I will be buying from Amazon next time

Sorry have always had great service from halfords for generations. Visited Halfords Barrow in Furness today to buy a bike for our grandson. Needed advice and was told the man we needed was in the warehouse and would be with us shortly. Waited 15 minutes and then observed man building bikes behind counter. Presumed he was our man. Approached man and said could you give us some help and advice regarding buying bike for our grandson, we have his height age excetera, he replied you will not get it in time for Christmas and was not in the least interested. Luckily we have a bike being delivered from Tesco, but sad to end our happy asscosiation with you and bikes for generations.

I called into Halfords in Cromer Norfolk on Friday to collect a bike. The lady working on the till was grumpy,a smile would of been good. She called to her work colleague who was some distance from her.He didn't hear,so she shouted again across the store. He collected the bike which was bought with a cycle helmet. There was no coversation with me or with the two store assiistants. As you have to walk down a flight of steps to get to the car park,it wouldn't of been nice for the lad to offer to carry it to the car for me! Come on Cromer where is the Christmas cheer and customer service? Won't be in a hurry to shop there again.

We purchased a roof box from Halfords just over 12 months ago. A weekend in Devon away a few weeks ago and the locking mechanism broke and we were unable to close the box. Not wanting to travel back up to Yorkshire with it being broken, we went to Halfords in Exmouth. They tried to fix the lock, without any joy so exchanged the complete box for us. Great customer service.

When I was a child Halfords was a name you could trust and it stood for quality. It was slightly moor expensive but the products lasted. This sadly is no longer the case wether it be a over priced headlight bulb, box of latex gloves or even a child seat they are barely fit for purpose. I feel totally let down by Halfords. It's a bit like a drunken wife beater, who the morning after promises it will never happen again and yet it does. Halfords I have given you the benefit of the doubt for the last time you have lost me. The quality of the majority of items is better in pound land. Accountants you are ruining a once great business and name. We all know what happened to woolworths I can see Halfords going the same way ......

I purchased a set of wheel trims from your store at Cortonwood, Barnsley store on Tuesday 10th November. The goods were real value for money. However, the service was EXCELLENT!! We were dealt with by a member of staff called Sophie. As a 71 year old I needed help. She not only told me the size I needed, offered to have them fitted for a small charge, and also disposed of the old ones for me. All this in a respectful and polite manner. Yes, I will use this store again!

My car recently passed the MOT test but Halfords warned, via an "advisory", that 2 tyres should be replaced because they were cracked. I was quoted approximately £260 for 2 tyres. A subsequent visit to the main dealer confirmed that the tyres did not need replacing and were good for another 5000 miles.

I visited The Wellingborough store today to see if I could have some inner tubes fitted on to two bikes. Jut, the fitter, was excellent and did the job straight away. He got the bikes out of the car and into the store. He then asked another colleague to help me get one bike up the stairs while he took the other. This colleague (a lady) was very obliging and cheerful. Jut fixed the bikes quickly and efficiently, whilst taking care to make sure they were safe, also putting a chain back on where it had come loose during the car journey. He put the bikes back in the car very carefully. He was pleasant and helpful throughout and I can't recommend him highly enough. The only part of the experience that I found a little bizarre was having the bike repair section on the first floor, although I understand there is a lift available. An excellent customer service experience.
