Just fantastic service by polite attentive professional people. I needed a bulb replacing in a vehicle with poor access to do this easily, it was worth £5 to have this done; no fuss no appointment JOB DONE! Fantabulosa!!

I actually think Halfords is one of the bricks and mortar retailers that is actually quite good.

ordered car roof box and bars on line with finance, phoned to book in, told take a week to order bars, went to get fitted as booked they then said the finance deal finished it was only a bank holiday deal. i explained not my fault they had to order bars in, they dint care. made a few phone calls and got £75 discount and the finance after arguing with the store manager who done nothing for me. waste of time and so much hassle, very rude staff. even the customer service said nothing could be done and just bad luck.

No under shields were put back on my car, hence caused further damage within a week but halfords refused to rectify. The customer service was disgusting! Ive never been shocked in my life. The problem is still ongoing and finally after much convincing the customer adviser that i have a right to speak to a manager, i am waiting for a call back but dont know when. In stuck without a car

Bought two new tyres. Later discovered that one had been fitted incorrectly (the inside was on the outside!). Took car back and had tyre refitted. Later drove the car on the motorway only to discover that the wheel(s) were out of balance with shocking vibration. Took car back again and was told that one of the wheels was out of balance needing a 30gm, weight. Not sure everyone would have spotted the tyre error and I just wonder how that might have affected the car in, a) the wet and, b) in an emergency stop manoeuvre? Shocking. Summed up in two words: Never Again!

I have previously had bad experiences with Halfords when my parents in law were sold wrong baby carseat with incorrect information. They were told that if the child weights more than 9kg, by law the child would need to face forward. This is absolute bs since the recommendations state the child should stay rear facing up to 3 years old. Now I was buying another child seat and found the one I was looking for from both Halfords website and Mothercare. I decided to give Halfords a second chance and ordered from them since it was £5 cheaper than Mothercare. I recreg that now. I have never received this carseat and have received no replies to my contact efforts with them to find out what is going on. I will never buy anything from Halfords ever again and will tell everyone considering of buying a carseat not to buy it from Halfords.

Having stopped for a break on my way to Northampton on 2 April 2016, subsequently, I had to seek professional roadside support to start my car. I was advised by the mechanic in attendance that the battery was dead and that Halfords who were located nearby would fit a new one. With every confidence I bought a new battery at Halfords and paid the ten pound fitting fee, having first ascertained that indeed they could fit the battery in my Audi A4. A very pleasant young man tried his best to do the job but after fifteen or twenty confessed that he had no idea how to remove the old existing battery in my car. He consulted his manager who also drives an Audi A4 and was told that he would never attempt it to remove the battery from Audi car for fear of damaging the neighbouring electronic wiring. Sadly, a clearly embarrassed and the very apologetic young man gave up on this job, refunded my money and jump started the car in order that I could progress on my journey with a dead and semi useless battery. I eventually succeed at having the old battery removed and a new one fitted by a garage mechanic. This entire procedure took him fifteen minutes and although it required unscrewing an extra nut that was not easily visible it did not present him with any difficulties because he knew what he was doing. In conclusion, I feel sorry for the man at Halfords who tried to change my battery, somewhat surprised and disappointed that his manager did not consider it was important for his store to be able to change batteries in all car makes and not just some of them and totally bewildered by Halfords in that they claim and charge for fitting some items, such as batteries, which they sell in their stores and yet they do not appear to give their staff adequate training.

Bought a Boardman comp on the cycle2 work scheme in September last year. By the end March this year three spokes had popped the bottom bracket had failed and the rear hub collapsed. Halfords put this down to fair wear and tear and after three times of asking still seem unwilling to send me a copy of their complaints procedure. They are offering to repair the hub at my expense but cannot say when this will happen. There's no chance I'm giving them another penny of my money but i'll make them earn the costs I already know i'll never recoup by complaining every day until March next year.

Just home from the Enfield store. Needed a new light bulb which would have been impossible for me to fit. Ryan was allocated the job. He greeted me immediately and did the job swiftly and professionally. Great customer service.

bought a bike online for my daughters 4th birthday. Bike arrived on her birthday minus pedals, handlebar streamers and a broken stabilizer wheel. Took nearly two weeks to sort out (despite being told was being treated as a priority) Quite a long time for a four year old to wait !!. Several phone calls and emails, even emailed ( twice ) Ceo Jill Mcdonald who disappointingly did not bother to respond. Thought Halfords was a store that I could trust and rely on. Live and learn I guess, they'll never get my custom again not even for a light bulb

I recently bought a bike from Halfords in Cardiff. Aside from the fact that I had to pay more for the price in store (!!) than the online price, the person who fitted the bike actually FORGOT TO TIGHTEN THE HANDLEBAR!!!! So when I took my BRAND NEW bike out of the shop to ride it home, I turned somewhere, and the stem and handlebar turned, while THE WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN and remained in place. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED by that. This could have easily cause a SERIOUS ACCIDENT to myself, pedestrians or anyone else. SHAMEFUL.

I left my bike for service at Halfords St Albans and I was told that next day somebody will give me a call and tell me what needs to be done. Nobody called me next day so I tried to ring them several times but nobody picked up the phone in bikes department, after multiple attempts and wasting several minutes I gave up and rang them next day late afternoon. This time I was told that somebody will call me back but after waiting for half an hour I decided to rang them again and demanded answer. This time somebody asked me for all bike details one more time and finally I got an answer. I was told that bike mechanic will look at my bike in a week and call me back. So instead original one day of waiting time I was told to wait for total of 9 days just to be told what's wrong with the bike. I was worried that if it take 9 days to just take a look then how much time will it take to repair it... I couldn't afford waiting for so long because I use this bike for commuting so I took my bike and brought it to a local bike shop. They rang me next day and fixed the bike the same day. I'm not sure if customer service in all Halfords stores is so pathetic but I strongly advice to avoid any bike service in Halfords St Albans unless you can wait for few weeks.

Daughter purchased a new CD player, was fitted in minutes. A day later she had an issue with the locking which was partly due to the new unit, the manager of the store advised on the part we had to order, when we got this we took it to the store and he fitted foc. Ten out of ten Berwick Upon Tweed store!

A note to all making an online purchase. Watch for the 'thank you voucher' which signs you up paying a monthly subscription to a 'service' you wont be aware of. Halfords take the view of its your fault for not reading the small print!
