“I know that I am just one simple individual in this universe but I pray that you have a kind heart and soul. I understand I am not God or someone with high power/abilities however attending school and reading books I learn more stuff as I grow in life. Allow me to get straight to the point with stating that I recently got hired to work in one of your many locations in the USA for JCPenney. My father is a doctor and mother is an attorney both in the military so growing up with values and old fashioned I understand that we must all treat everyone with respect and kindness. My only request is to remain anonymous due to what I’m about to let you know because I understand everyone has their own way of running things but there is some things I have noticed here at work that should be taken in consideration. For example there is an LOD that always hide in the back instead of being in the sales floor taking care of customers or assisting fellow staff. The LOD has favorite personnel because she allows few coworkers slack around or be on the phone talking or using work hours for personal use. Also there has been times that the LOD when cashiers or recovery team or anyone calls them thru the walky or page the LOD she ignores the call. I know there was a visit from the district manager of this store however I feel that if the district manager were to talk with us one on one and get our perspective perhaps you all can see what’s going on in this place. When store manager is around everything is going smoothly but when she leaves the LOD does things that are unprofessional or inappropriate. Another thing is she would be blasting songs that are non family friendly and her actions are driving customers away and making comrades at work feel unhappy. The one thing that I will have to say is that a fellow employee member overheard that the LOD said that as LOD she would tell someone that they should just stop to exist in this planet/world. Now I know many younger generations like myself say stuff randomly and sometimes things can be misinterpreted. Being the time of holidays my concern is that she shouldn’t say something like that because in this timeframe of the years many people could take that what is told to her or him and sometimes can cause depression or anxiety or can cause someone’s life to be affected. My essay is to say that please as a human person in this galaxy take a few minutes of your life to check on everyone and make sure everyone is safe and happy and healthy. Perhaps maybe JCPenney has a different way of running things at this location but there are things here that are at least to my knowledge not work compliance. I have noticed that the LOD she does behave intimidating to customers and associates to assure things are running her way not the JCPenney way. I applied here at JCPenney because I was told that it is a good experience but I think maybe this retail store department has a different type of good experience in their manual. I wish you a wonderful merry Christmas and new years I will pray that perhaps you will personally visit this store location even the CEO just to get your an insight understanding of what’s going on. I’m not asking for anything at all just looking out for every human being because at the end of time we are all people.”
“Absolutely terrible customer service. They sent the wrong item and would not issue a refund until the wrong item was returned. The item I ordered was pricey and the item I received not. I wanted a refund so I could reorder the item in time for Christmas. Customer service was rude and ended the conversation when I was still typing.
I will never shop there ever again.”
“Not even worthy of 1 star!! Worse online shopping/ordering experience ever! Do not order online from JCPenney!!! Trust me when I say, you will be wasting your time and gas and won't get your item(s). After visiting the store several times to pick up the item, I was repeatedly told the ordered item was not in yet. The order said "in transit to store" for exactly 16 days. I called the 1800 # for online orders to see what was going on and was told that the order was cancelled because "it wasn't picked up." When I requested a refund for the order in my card, I was told they would send me a check. Employees are not very friendly or helpful! Save yourself the headache, time and money - shop elsewhere!!”
“I'm livid! I placed an order in time for Christmas. I checked over my order to make sure the billing address and shipping address was accurate. I placed my order waited a few days tracked to items and JCPenney was sending my items to my previous address. I called JCPenney who told me it was nothing they could do and for me to call UPS. I called UPS they said it was out of their hands I had to call JCPENNEY...complete run around. I was told they would intercept the order it didn't happen my package was delivered to the wrong address. I'm over it this is bad business. I can't even delete the old address in the system and customer service agent said they couldn't delete the old address I would have to do it... with no way to delete it. I'm done with JCPENNEY. Someone else is enjoying the gifts I will NOT be paying for their error.”
“Pickup order is horribl6e set up the area they what you to pickup up your purchase is poorly lighted, they want you to pick a parking spot 1 through 5 but none of the parking spots have number on then I tried to call to get help nobody answering the phone so I guess I will come inside the store witch defeats the purpose of pickup order. “I ordered 2 men’s shirts for Christmas on December 5th called customer service twice and their warehouse trying to get help. Still hung up in the warehouse it is now December 17th no help from anyone from Penney’s. Horrible customer service but give them a 5 after the conversation that is all they care about.”
“JCPenney has the WORST customer service! I placed an order and before paying, I double-checked that my address was correct (I deleted the other addresses in my account and set the one where I live now as the default). They sent my order to the address that is no longer on my account. They say that because I didn't check my email, nothing can be done and it's my fault, or that I should contact UPS.”

“I arrived at the jewelry counter at 8:30 p.m. and wanted to buy a black mesh Citizen watch. I wasn't shopping I was buying. After the girl ignored me for 10 minutes while talking with another associate she reluctantly walked to the watches without saying a word. I asked her if she knew the cost of the watch she said huh. Zero eye contact and a complete attitude. When I said it's obvious you don't have a little time to devote to me this evening, her response was what do you mean by that. Every time my wife and I come to the store it's the same thing. We have shopped at JCPenney since it was in the Audubon Shopping Center and haven't been back in a couple of years because of just this, we're done with this extremely poor establishment that has zero customer service. It's across the board no matter what department you're in except for Debbie in men's clothing. Always a smile and always Pleasant. Maybe Debbie should train the majority of your Associates. Such a shame it used to be the anchor of South Jersey.”

“I am from New York but I shopped at the Waco location because my daughter goes to Baylor and there is an assistant manager that is unethical and unprofessional her way of treating people is uncalled for there has been many cases that I love to discuss with the owner or personnel from headquarters. I requested contact information from that store and was denied access to any information of corporate and so I have to go out my way to hopefully get someone to speak with about many of the issues that are occurring at this store from discrimination to harassment to playing horrible music in a department section to just being on their phone while having customers in plain view etc etc”
“I have ordered from JC Penney for years and have never had an issue. I have never had a complaint, filed a claim with them or not received my package, this year I don't get my package and in order to get a refund I have to file a police report. I am not the only one who has not gotten their packages my co-worker got notification of it being delivered but never received it.”
“I wish I could give a negative number, or a zero at the very least. On Dec 2, 2024, I ordered what I thought was a good deal: 4-pack Stafford undershirts for $12.99. I ordered 3, which was $49.96 with tax and shipping. Received my package on 12/8 and it was wrong. Some ugly, large chocolate colored shirt. Contacted customer service, got a shipping label. Took the ugly shirt I didn't order and dropped it off at the UPS store. Received an email that I was going to get a refund for $13.67. What? I paid $50 and didn't get what I ordered. Contacted CS again. Said to wait. Received an email today and said I am getting $13.67. Contacted CS again today, 12/11. No help. Said they only received one item back. I sent back whatever was in that bag that was sent to me. They said I had to open a case. This order from a week and a half ago has caused so many headaches, time, gas, and effort plus they took my money. I will NEVER shop there again.”
“I purchased dining chairs for the holidays. They arrived early and I was very excited. Until I attempted to screw the legs on. The first chair was great. The next 3 chairs screws stripped with each turn. Small shards of metal were almost invisible on my floor. This is a hazard especially for diabetics! I contacted Priscilla in JCP Whittier and was referred to another number. I called many times and was told something different each time. Finally I was told it was out of JCP's hands and that I had to wait until the company who picks up the chairs called me with no estimate of when that would occur. Also, after they pick up the chairs it would be approximately 3 weeks before I am refunded my money. I'm a senior on a fixed income and I paid with a debit card so there goes my holiday celebrations with no seating. Also my apartment is small and 2 large boxes with partially assembled chairs impede on my Christmas decor! I've been a JCP customer for at least 50 years! I'm very disappointed and I will NEVER order anything except inexpensive items online. I understand why JCP is in financial trouble. The customer no longer valuable!”
