I like my new card but I'm not happy to sign up for online statements unless my vouchers were online too

I have had my Waitrose rewards credit card for about 3 months, but have random times where the card is declined or 'an error has occurred' online even though the app has sent me a valid OTP code. I tried to circumvent this by adding to the Trusted Retailers list via the app. Unfortunately this also has undefined 'an error has occurred' moments. In addition you cant scroll in the Trusted Retail pop-up as no bar is provided. I telephoned Customer Services who told me that it must be my browser and that I should install another. The person clearly had no technical knowledge and was quoting from a 'common problems' faq sheet. I was made to feel like every issue was my error. After being 'fobbed off' for about 30 minutes, I eventually spoke to her manager who promised me a call back from someone with better technical expertise. That was this morning and it is now 17:00. It clearly isnt happening. I will probably go to another provider in the near future as I cannot have random refusals of my card continuing. Looking at previous postings for reviews of NewDay cards (on all review sites), this appears to be a common problem.

I have held a Jl card for many years . Having heard the poor reviews I was reluctant to apply for a New Day card but did so recently. It was approved and arrived fairly quickly . The card itself looks cheap . I tried to activate the card several times last evening with the codes given But it didn’t work .The card will be filed under ‘bin’ in favour of one from a High Street bank provider .

Dreadful company I have NEVER been able to use the John jewis new day credit card in any of the JL stores without it being declined BEFORE I put the PIN code in. New day insist the card is valid unblocked and not cancelled. An hour and a half wasted yesterday trying to buy sofas with the new day fraud team insisting 6 times that the card should work but it did not! For 50 years I’ve never had a problem with my JL account and then the JL credit cards managed by visa and mastercard. Why are JL working with such a poorly managed and low tech credit card company? I have received no explanation or apology from new day and I’ve lost out of £3500 worth of JL points as I had to use my mastercard to make the purchase. I’d like to say shove the card but too ok do so would negatively impact my credit score through no fault of my own. Disgraceful company.

Had a John Lewis credit card for 20 years plus. Pay all balance every month, never missed. Had a large credit limit for 18 years. Reduced it to avoid exposure from fraud and was told I could increase back up at time. Recently requested to increase to original level. No change in circumstances and 99% Experian rated. New Day refused to increase back to what it was. Totally disgusted as not only was I advised I could revert to my original credit limit when I wanted to but I was never advised I could be refused an increase. I would never have decreased it in the first place if I had known that. The call handler was blunt and basically called me a liar. There should be a way John Lewis is made aware of how New Day treats its customers.

Newday owe me £1,805. Was told this would take 2-10 days to process. I waited 10 days and was told it would take another 2-10 days. I waited 10 days. I was then told that they never operate on a 2-10 days format. Payments will be made in 7-10 working days. I waited. Still nothing. Still waiting and they still owe me £1,805.

I set my monthly payment to go to Newday on 1st April this being the due date. This happened to be a bank holiday, so my payment didn't reach them until 2nd April. The idiots then blocked my credit card, and showed that I had insufficient funds remaining on my credit card. This was a complete nonsense as my credit limit was £10,000 and the balance on my card was around £3,500. They claimed that they do this when the payment doesn't reach them on the due date. In my experience card companies do not block ones card until the credit limit is exceeded, and there is a track record of missed payments. In my case i have always paid promptly, and never exceeded my credit limit. I cannot understand how John Lewis cames to go into partnership with this lot. They are incompetent.

Newday halved my credit limit. My partner was declined. We had both been with the previous JL card for 20 around years.

Only given them 1 star so I could write this. John Lewis, how did you ever come to move your card over to this lot. Frequently my card, and that of my wife, do not work when tapping, the credit limit given was slashed from when HSBC provided the service, the call agents can't give a sensible answer when the 'increase credit limit' automatically says 'no'. The pain of changing supplier is high but this lot are trashing your reputation. Admit it, you made a mistake, and bin them.

Absolutely dire. Don't touch. After years of paying regularly, have been unwell and unable to pay. They have failed to send forms for two months, then sent incorrect ones, but still managing to send harassing letters even thought the account is on hold. An absolute disgrace of a company.

They throw the money at you then they want it back quick or the push you into a payment plan. They are just a crooked company so get a decent card with a good bank as they don’t behave like new day cards. They are just conn artists.

Hopeless. Refused a very minor increase in credit despite always paying on time. Impossible to get an explanation. Long list of possible reasons given, none of which apply so none the wiser.

I was not contacted by New Day or John Lewis to say that there were possible fraudulent transactions on my card. I only found out when trying to check my acoount online and being denide access. Never use again.

Terrible. Awful credit limit despite paying in full each month. High interest charges and the app does not update when you have made a payment to show the reduced payment balance outstanding. Still says the original amount. If it wasn’t for the vouchers this card would definitely be getting cancelled. It still might! Come on John Lewis please change providers before you lose more loyal customers.

Applied for finance for AO to buy some gaming stuff. Kept getting error message and asked to call. I did and went through very extensive security which I passed. I made my purchase. Tried to login to see when to make my payment and again asked to call. Rung again, after more extensive checks, the person on the line told me, I don’t believe you are the account holder, I was shocked, she said you are not who you say you are. News to me. So now I can’t login or make payments etc because inspector clueso believes I’m someone else. Baring in mind I signed for the parcel at my home adress etc.. the mind boggles

Out of the blue, Newday halved my credit limit despite the fact I paid off my card in full every month. I phoned them to request they reinstate my original limit as I needed the higher limit to cover the Xmas period and an expensive service on my car. They refused, telling me I should pay my card off early to make room for the higher spend period. A few days later I received an email from Newday saying they had 'listened to their customers' and reinstated their original credit limits. They wrote, 'We recently reduced your credit limit. We took this step because the amount you spent on your card in the last six months was lower than your limit.' - implying they want me to exceed my credit limit! A totally idiotic statement! Luckily I have a very good credit score but nonetheless less their action reduced my rating as a larger proportion of my credit allowance had been used. I have already stopped using my Newday card and John Lewis will be the loser.
