“Though I am generally satisfied with coverage, the time it takes to process claims is getting ridiculous. If it is a wellness visit or if the expense is applied to my deductible, the turnaround is very quick. However, as soon as I’ve met my deductible, processing grinds to a halt! I think you forget that we have to pay these expenses out of pocket and then get reimbursed. We’re putting down large sums of money and need that refunded so we can take care of other family expenses. My most recent claims took over 40 days to process. Way too long. I am grateful for getting the funds back, but while I was waiting on you, I didn’t have money at the holidays to spend on my family. Please make this a priority!”

“The calls to customer service regarding the appeal for nov 2021 claim were always pleasant. Provided with the most updated information. My issue is with the long process of appeal. Documented date of appeal was dec 1 for nov 2021 office visit. Jan. 17 monday is the date of resolution. Based on how simple this was should not have taken all the time it did to review.,In my opinion the intial Claim processor rushed through the information and did not take the appropriate time to review everything to process the claim correctly. Unfortunately this resulted in a total denial which never should’ve happened. This was simple and easy, but unfortunately took a very long time to get resolved. Petsbest should be stressing to claims to review everything before making a determination of denial. Thank goodness I took the time to review on my end and appeal. The fee for the office visit was finally determined to be eligible and benefit paid. Waiting for eob from jan 2022 visit. I hope this one goes a little better and doesnot require any additional input on my end. Thank to those at petsbest who answer the phone and provide what information they can.”

“It took almost 2 months to process a straight forward claim which had a significant amount on it, putting a lot of stress (financial) to us as owners. Not a best practice at all.”

“The biggest issue we have faced with Pets Best has been the wait time between submitting a claim and receiving any explanation of benefits. We had to wait over a month to hear back about our last claim. That is a very long time, especially if you are submitting an expensive claim and have to shuffle finances around to cover the gap while you wait for reimbursement. Fix the wait time to under 10 days, and Pets Best would get at least 4 stars from us.”

“The medication formulary leaves a lot to be desired, as one of the frontline meds for giardia is not included; that seems intentional. The amount of times for claims to be processed is VERY slow.”

Insurance is meant to help you with the unexpected, broken bones, urinary blockages or cancer. Wellness is not insurance, its a benefit meant to help you offset the cost of what you would be spending whether you have insurance or not, so its not going to pay your full bill for these wellness visits.

“Petsbest has refused to cover a condition that is a medical condition that my cat developed after having their insurance on him for over a year. Timeframe for repayment of claims is less than other insurance companies, which is why I switched away from the other company that I used. Customer service during the last encounter was less than helpful.”

“Policy seems very expensive for the deductible and coverage amount. I know they go up with age, but I have never once used his insurance before and he is almost 9 now. Seems like that should account for something.”

“They took a long a long time to approve my claim but they did approve it. Everyone I spoke with at PetsBest was extremely kind, professional, and empathetic. They provide a good service at a decent rate. I recommend them to my friends. Just wish the processing turnaround time was quicker.”

“Initially I got my first claim refund fairly quickly. This last time it took over a month. This is my first experience with pet insurance but I’m having a hard time deciding whether or not it’s worth it.”

“I would love to give it 5 stars but the time to process a claim is so long compared to years ago when I first got Pets Best. I am actually looking into other companies now that has a faster process. The issue started back when the company merged with Care Credit and just got worse. So disappointing.”

“unfortunaetly it took a long time to get my claims done, I"m a patient person but when they want the monthly payment there are no excuses but when they owe you money they ask for more time. Hopefully the next one will be better.”
