After submitting invoices 4 times from my veterinarian, and spending 3 1/2 hours on hold or speaking to customer service, I still do not know if Pets Best has enough information to process my claim. They will not allow you to speak directly to the claims administrator. My yorkie has intestinal bowel disease and they have paid claims for his treatment in the past. The invoices are for treatment of pancreatitis, which is not an unusual occurrence for dogs with IBD. They have been horrible. It’s enough stress dealing with the disease. The additional stress Pets Best has created is disgraceful

I recently spent $1,000 on an emergency vet visit and only got $181 back. It takes too long to get information back.

I had to do an appeal of denied coverage for second pet that Pets Best covered fully for first pet. It took a long time to get someone on the phone and they were not well informed of policies or process. I sent in the appeal along with a letter from our vet and it was denied again. No comment on why they paid for pet 1 and not pet 2 for exact procedure. To ask a question, I have to call the same number and go through a customer service person. Feel brushed off in an unfriendly, hard to use process.

Need better coverage for annual and routine vet visits. Often, coverage is denied when the plan lists it as covered. Rates went up considerably over the last few years (from around $40 in 2020 to around $60 in 2024–same plan for the same dog).

I was happy to have insurance for my furbaby. However, I am disppointed in the return for my money. I am paying of $600.00 per year. I took my cat to the vet for her wellness check. I paid $539.22 and the insurance covered $135.00. I will be checking into other insurances.

They take entirely too long to approve a claim and get money back to you. However, if they deny a claim, it’s usually done within a day or two. They need to pick up their pace on approving and getting money back.

Inconsistent service as far as the amount of time claims are processed. When there is a problem, it is almost impossible to reach anyone by phone. Cost for premiums have doubled for next year.

We used to love pets best but our premium increased 25-50% for all three of our dogs his year alone. I understand rising costs and the age of the pet but this was a ridiculous increase!

For the amount of money that you pay for this and the amount that you get in return, it is slowly starting to be like I don't even have insurance at all. MOst of the claims being sent in they "cannot pay for" and that would be the only reason why I have insurance on the dog in the first place. Tried getting a second dog on the policy and of course, that dog costs almost 2X the amount of my original dog, even though, they are the same breed, came from the same breeder, and in fact from the same mother and father. Currently looking for another pet insurance, and I would suggest that you would do the same.

It's strange that when using an internet search of pet insurance companies that Pets Best comes up amongst the best. I would have to disagree. People will pay more and get less coverage with them. First of all, all office visits are excluded from reimbursement. Second, there is a co-pay as well as a deductible. I got nothing back from flea-tick and heartworm medication. A $400 emergency animal hospital visit returned approximately $135 twice this year while my dogs monthly premiums were $90 per month. So, I paid $900 in premiums this calendar year and got back less than $300. My dogs cost of monthly premiums have gone from $50, to $75, to $90 and now the upcoming renewal is supposed to be $140. I can get much better and cheaper insurance from ASPCA because I've already got the quote. Pets Best is also VERY slow in paying reimbursements. I submitted a claim on September 19, 2024 and as of October 15, 2024, I still do not have the reimbursement posted to my bank account. They say they process claims within 30 days but even that is too long. I believe this is just an unaccecptable level of business and competence. I do not recommend this company.

Am not happy- My dog clinic bill was 400$ I have wellnes $ illness program with Pets Best- I recieved 15.00$ back. Will be looking for a new company!!

Seem to come up with reasons to not provide coverage as opposed to providing coverage. Long time to make decision on claim and once finalized, considering the premium cost , benefit is disappointing. Was hoping to be much happier with Pets Best than I have been with 4 animals on policy—rethinking the choice to go with Pets Best.
